I did my Lasik on December 2017. The doctor explained to me that because of my age I would have to wear glasses to read anyway, UNLESS I would do mono vision, which means one eye fixed to see far, and one to see close. Done! I did it! A year later, here I am, with reading glasses! The doctor said he could not do any change to my short distance! So why recommend mono vision? Also, all my friends who had Lasik, said the recovery was fast and only the first couple of days was not so comfortable. For me the first whole week was hell! I had lasik done here, at LasikPlus, 4 days ago and it was amazing! I won't lie and say it was a walk in the park because the actual 5 minute experience through surgery was nerve-wrecking for me but it was pretty much painless and so fast it literally is all a blur already! (No pun intended). The staff is charming and kind and professional and the Dr was amazing. He took his time to explain and spoke through the procedure to let me know I was doing good. I found that reassuring since I was a bit of a nervous mess. All I could advise is, take the Valium. I didn't and probably should have to have been more relaxed. All in all, as you've heard before, TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I was seeing 20/15 the next day! Good morning!!!!!!!!! My name is Marie, and I am currently writing this the day after my surgery with Dr. Kenneth O. Karp and his fabulous team of wonderful nurses. I had my post op appointment this morning and was able to read the 20/20 vision line. I am in tears at this miracle they have bestowed upon my life at 22 years old. I have had bad vision since the 3rd grade, so pretty much my whole entire life. By the time I reached this office, my prescription was at -4.75, so I was pretty blind LOL. The price was extremely reasonable for the up to date, best around technology they provide for their patients! This experience was life changing and I could not have chosen a better office. My appointment was at 1pm. I got there at 12:30. I've never been to a Dr office where the entire staff takes lunch at same time. That's ridiculous ! I've always been very interested in lasik since the first time it was brought up to me but I've always been super nervous about the topic about having someone touch my eye that being said even having my eyes lasered. I started noticing that slowly my glasses would probably need to be updated because I was squinting while wearing them and for me getting new glasses even when it's just lenses isn't cheap because I tend to get the whole package like transitioning lenses, anti glare, etc etc. So I started doing some research about lasik because I felt the time was right and I landed on this place called lasik plus in Miramar. I set up an appointment for a consultation. The lady that helped me out was named heather and she was very helpful, caring, and professional. Usually when I go to consultations about anything they just try to give me whatever little information and push me out the door but not here. I was told everything I needed to know plus more and had all my questions answered. I went through with financing thanks to some help and had my appointment to get my lasik done just 2 days later. AMAZING! I was so excited to never have to wear glasses again. I went in the day of my procedure they did one final check up to make sure everything was ok and we were off to start with my procedure. And may I say... IT WAS SO QUICK. It was completely painless but it was a little uncomfortable because of the clamp they put on your eye but nothing you can't handle. You know what they say, no pain no gain but instead of pain just a little discomfort for a lifetime of perfect vision. Dr.Karp himself was also super nice. During the procedure both Dr.Karp and Heather were very caring and made sure you were doing ok at all times, they're also great motivators letting you know during the procedure that your doing a great job and also letting you know how much time you have left before they are done with each eye. I got my Lasik done last Thursday and couldn't be happier with my decision. The staff was friendly and they are also bilingual. The doctor, Kenneth Karp, was nice and addressed any questions or concerns I had. They re-examined my eyes the day of the procedure and reassured me every step of the way. The care by Dr. Karp and his staff has far exceeded my expectations. They spent a lot of time with me during my initial consultation doing a very thorough exam, explaining the procedure, my options and answering any questions I had. I had to reschedule my surgery a few times due to the holidays and schedule conflicts - they were always understanding of my situation and helped me finally find a date that would work. My phone calls were always promptly answered or returned. Right up until the day of the office sent follow-up emails and phone calls to ensure that I had everything I needed and make sure any questions I might have were answered. The day of the surgery, every staff member made me feel completely welcome and at ease. An assistant went over the post-op instructions carefully and gave me a package with the instructions typed out, as well. My vision was checked again by one of the nurses and a final time by Dr. Karp. Throughout the procedure, Dr. Karp and his nurse (Heather) told me everything that was going to happen before it happened (you'll see a read light, it will go dark for a few seconds, countdown for how long before a step was done, etc.). They reassured me throughout that the procedure was going well and I was doing fine with it. The whole thing took about 15 minutes. My husband hardly had time to go from the office downstairs to the car, before he had to come back to the office to get me. When I was done, although my vision was a little cloudy, I immediately noticed that I could see objects in the distance like I haven't been able to see in more than 30 years. For a few hours after, my eyes teared for a little while after (like after looking towards the sun for too long), but the procedure itself and recovery was completely painless. When I woke up from my nap (which they recommend you take to speed the healing process), the tearing had stopped and I could see clearly, both up close and far away. I received a follow up phone call from one the staff that afternoon and had my first follow up appointment the next day. Again, everyone was super nice, my vision was checked by the nurse and the doctor and my questions answered. I've been wanting to have LASIK for more than 10 years now and I'm so glad that when I finally made the leap, I did it with Dr. Karp and his staff. Everyone has been amazing. I had elective corrective procedure at Lasikplus miramar hospital, I had originally very minor myopia (-1.00 in both eyes maybe slightly less) and now that I am three months post op my eyes still don't match my left eye (which was my better eye prior to surgery) is still not as sharp as my right eye now and so I feel like it wasn't the best experience because from the start I never had bad vision and me paying all this money to correct my vision and then not getting perfectly matching vision is not the best experience, I had to go back 3-4 times so that in the end the doctor sent me a different steroid after my THIRD visit post op instead of sending that stronger medication from the beginning, also the doctor does not have very good bedside I also felt like making post op appointments was a mission and that they didn't wanna deal with me anymore after surgery. The doctor doesn't have good bedside manner he barely talks to you is super dry and kind of just dismisses you as if you were just a number and not a patient overall I am not really satisfied, not to mention the white of my left eye was BLOODY RED for a month after surgery, I looked like a zombie. In the end I wish I would have gone elsewhere and maybe paid a little more for better attention to detail. read more

I can see!!! Dr. Karp and the staff were great! I was a nervous wreck the day of my surgery but they helped me pull through. It was painless! It took about 40 secs for each eye. I had negative 9 vision (blind as a bat) and I got out of the chair seeing clear for the first time, I almost cried. The next few days were a little rough because it feels like you have sand in your eyes and you can't itch. After 3-4 days though it went away. I was always super hesitate about doing laser eye surgery. I mean, can you blame me? It sounded painful. Well, I was gladly wrong. Some context: My vision went downhill by the time I reached middle school and was permanently stuck with glasses and unfortunately my eyes were too sensitive for contacts. I decided to write a review on my Lasik experience since I've had so many people ask me how the surgery went, so here goes. I did my procedure May of 2015. A year and 3 months later I am sooo happy I decided to do it. This has been the best decision I've made regarding my contact and glasses, I had zero side effect, absolutely no complaints. I went in for a consultation the nurses were very nice and the office was clean and spotless. After doing all my eye tests i was put in a room to meet Dr. Karp. After checking my eyes he was able to tell me that I was a perfect match for the procedure. Mind you I was the person that had to wear my glasses/contact to see on a regular basis (contact perception was -3.75 & -4.00) so to hear that I can have 20/20 vision I was ecstatic. I had 3 more appointments after that to do all the necessary tests and then surgery day came. Make sure you have someone there to drive you because you have to keep your eyes closed for the duration of the day. You are awake during the procedure but it does not hurt! I repeat IT DOES NOT HURT! Afterwards your eyes are extremely sensitive to light and touch, you must go straight home and try to take a nap. Eye drops were needed for the next 2 weeks and if you get dry eyes. I went to my 3 month check up afterward and found out I had healed perfectly, no infections no pain.
