**Updated review of actual surgery date** WOWWW just freaking wow! I walked in the so nervous because aside from the fact that I've never had a surgery in my life, this is my eyes we're talking about!! I was so anxious as to what was going to happen, and seeing videos on YouTube prior to my visit was freaking me out. I received some eye drops and took a Valium to relax my nerves, and once I sat down on that bed, I knew this was about to get real! I asked for a stress ball to hold while I basically get my eyes cut open lol I was in there with Dr. Karp and his assistant Heather who both kept me super calm during the whole procedure. Heather would do a countdown to make sure I know how much time I had per eye and that right there made it so much better because I felt like I wasn't alone throughout the surgery. In just a quick 10 minutes the surgery was over and done with. I sat up from that bed and instantly felt that my vision was much better. I started crying my eyes out and gave a hug to Dr. Karp for basically saving my life and giving me the vision I've been wanting for about 10 years!! Dr. Karp, Heather, Denia, and the receptionists always made me feel comfortable and I trusted them without a doubt. Truly a magical and crazy experience that I recommend to anybody!! Never thought I'd see the day that I can finally see without needing contacts or glasses ever again!

If you are like me, the thought of getting Lasik sounds like a great idea but terrifying. I read through almost all reviews (if not all) for all Lasik options in the area. I narrowed it down to 3 who I had phone calls or virtual consultations with. There were 2 Options comfortable with moving forward (one being a doctor recommended and one was LasikPlus). I ended up going in for an on-site consult with LasikPlus because they were available the next day, and also had better pricing & free future lasik touch ups if needed. Onsite consult: Let me start by saying that get very anxious at things like this. I have vaso vagal, which means I faint when I get really nervous (eye doctor, shots, etc). This was one of my biggest concerns with lasik. The staff is super friendly at lasik, but I did get really nervous and disoriented when they put in the eye numbing drops and started touching my eye with a little tool that looks similar to a pen (measures something about your eye). I did end up fainting, and thought this meant it would basically be a no go for me to get lasik. I spoke to Dr. Karp (who I had already met briefly after fainting) while finishing up my appointment and he was very calm and patient with me. He explained how we would handle me having vaso vago and that it wouldn't be a problem. If it was any other doctor I probably would have walked out right then, but I booked my appointment for the next week. Day of Lasik: I was super nervous but trying not to think about it. I was actually much more nervous the day of the consult (after the consult) and the following day. Once I decided I was going forward with Lasik I seemed to calm down. The day of the surgery I arrived at my 1:00 appointment, signed the paperwork, took the anxiety pill, and then did another quick eye exam to make sure everything looked good. After the eye exam they told me I should be out in 30 min or less. We went into the procedure room, which was more comfortable and less intense that I expected. There was some music playing which I liked. Dr. Karp was very calming and walked me though everything. The procedure was not nearly as scary or weird as I thought. It also went by quicker than I thought. I did not think I would faint at any point, but appreciated that Dr. Karp asked how I was doing every few minutes. I was out at 2:00 pm. I had an hour drive home, which isn't ideal because you are supposed to go to sleep as soon as possible after surgery. I was able to fall asleep a little but when we were almost home I felt my eyes starting to burn and water (expected). It felt like I touched jalapeños and then rubbed them all over my eyes. When I got home (around 3:00), I put drops in and tried to go to sleep. I kept waking up because of the burning but was able to get some sleep. Around 5 I woke up and took a tylonel bc the medicine wore off and I didn't think I would be able to fall back asleep with my eyes burning. After a short amount of time the pain went completely away and I slept until about 8:30. I wish I would have taken the tylonel sooner, but I didn't expect to stop the pain like it did. I woke up to put drops in and eat. I was amazed I could see (only a little hazy around lights). I was not tired at all, so I just listened to podcasts for a few hours before I was able to fall asleep. Woke up in the morning and eyes were great! I hope this helps anyone who is super freaked out by things like this, like myself! If not, I also watched a Jimmy Fallon & Taylor Swift you tube clip about her getting Lasik that is super funny and made me feel less nervous for some reason.

i can see clearly now the rain has gone

Ask the Community - LasikPlus

As anyone had the halo effect and if so how long did it take to go away and is it completely gone or do you see it but not so much( often )?

Hi Mela, I had the halo effect for about 2 weeks. I had the surgery in July of this year it is completely gone. It takes getting used to in the beginning. Makes it hard to drive in the dark.

How many appointments did you end up having to go to, total, and approximately how much did you end up paying (LASIK surgery + appointments)?

I think 5 visits total (pre-exam, then surgery appointment, 1-2 day post opp, 1 week out, 1month out) yeah I think that was all of them. They just check to see how your eye is healing and what you're vision is. By my last visit I was 20/15 which is… Read more

Dr. Arthur Fishman, M.D. is THE BEST ! Here's why:…read more I am a terrible eye patient; NO ONE TOUCHES MY EYES, let alone operates on them ! I knew from several Ophthalmologists that I needed cataract surgery. I kept putting it off, even though I had lost my ability to drive at night several years ago, and my daytime vision was compromised. I was referred to Dr. Fishman while visiting South Florida. His prestigious educational and professional background aside, FINALLY, a doctor that took the time to explain to me the mechanics of my eye condition; I had particularly bothersome subcapsular cataracts. Dr. Fishman explained the benefits and risks of cataract surgery, what I had to look forward to and he took the time to answer my numerous questions. He was very kind and empathetic and I felt immediate trust, so I decided on the spot that I found the right doctor to operate on my eyes! Dr. Fishman gave me several options for lens replacements and I opted for the Technis Intraocular Lenses by Abbott. With both of my two eye surgeries, after the dilation drops wore off, I looked around and my first thought was "I am liberated"! 20-20 Vision ! No more glasses and no more blinding cataracts! I was so happy after the first surgery, I asked to have the second one done the following week. The surgery itself was as described to me. The anesthesiologist told me "you will be awake but comfortable", but, I made sure to clarify that it was "twilight sleep". Which, as far as I am concerned as a layman patient, no, I was not awake, and if I was, I don't remember a thing; exactly as I wanted it. Post surgery, I had absolutely no discomfort. Vision was blurry until the dilation drops wore off. One of my eyes felt like there might have been a grain of sand in it for maybe an hour. Other than that, there was no pain, no nothing. If I wouldn't have been hit with the liberating sensation of "perfect vision" afterwards, I wouldn't have known that I had surgery at all ! Dr. Fishman's office is very efficient. My first appointment was within 7 days from when I first called. I could have been seen even sooner, however, my schedule didn't allow for it. Each time I've gone in, the office is well organized and the staff is efficient, courteous and helpful. I was given a thorough eye exam with the newest State of the Art testing equipment (non-invasive). In fact, had I not opted for cataract surgery, it was determined I needed a new RX for glasses, which was more precise than the RX I was given less than a year ago at another Ophthalmologist's office. I was given easy to follow pre op instructions by the surgery coordinator, who, also called me post op to see how I was doing. I called with a question a few hours after the first surgery and it was answered immediately. For both surgeries the staff at the surgical center were extremely efficient and helpful. They made sure I had followed pre op instructions, made me feel comfortable before the procedure and I was sent home with easy to follow post op instructions. And, they called to check up on me. My follow up appointments with Dr. Fishman post surgery went seamlessly. I couldn't be happier. Cataract surgery is supposed to be one of the "easiest" on a patient. Yes, that may be, but, it is still surgery, so having the best surgeon is important. Dr. Fishman is certainly that. The whole experience was perfect ! Anyone may contact me with more questions.

My insurance covers $300.00. When I asked again, I was told yes, this is what they covered. Would not break down the lenses and frames separately. I called a few optical stores and the going prices for regular single vision polycarbonate lenses are between $60.00 to $120.00 dollars so are they trying to charge $180.00 dollars for frames that look like mediicaid frames. Do not buy glasses from this place and shop around as they are trying to rip off customers. I understand making a profit but cheap looking frames for almost $200.00, I don't think so. Reading glasses in pharmacy look better than these frames.
