If you are hesitant about getting LASIK, take it from me, just do it. I am 53 years old and have been burdened with glasses and/or contacts for 47 years of my life, I have done Lasik consultations before and was always too scared to proceed. The staff at LasikPlus changed all of that. The entire staff was great from start to finish. Heather Mott was great and answered all of my questions during my initial consultation and after, she also did a great job of following up with me, even 4 months after my first visit. Denia Zolaica was amazing and was able to "talk me off the ledge" the day of my surgery last Thursday. As I mentioned before, 47 years is a long time to wear glasses/contacts and I could not fathom the idea of doing without them and almost walked out of the office the day of my surgery. The staff realized my anxiety and did their best to calm my nerves, and Denia in particular was amazing. She brought me in to her office and did an amazing job of explaining the procedure in detail and helping me deal with my anxiety (the 2 Valiums that she prescribed me did not hurt either). Finally, Dr. Karp has a way of making a patient feel welcome and exudes the utmost confidence in the service (a medical miracle in my opinion) that he provides. Since day one, Dr. Karp assured me that I was a great candidate and that all would go well, and the result far exceeded my expectations. The procedure itself is miraculous, the hardest part for me was the anticipation in the waiting room. Each eye takes about 30 seconds and after my first eye was done, I could already see clearly. Since then, with each passing day, my eyes feel better and better and today the staff confirmed that my vision is now 20/15. Like I said, a medical miracle for someone that has not known life without glasses for nearly 50 years. I still wear readers to see things up close but that is due to my age, distance-wise everything is now in HD for me. Do yourself a favor, do the Lasik, you will not regret it! I visited Dr. Karp's office on recommendation from my optometrist for glaucoma candidate screening. Staff was super courteous & welcoming, plus organized & effective. Dr. Karp's level of care is very high & reassuring. During my eye exam, he made sure to tell me what he was doing & why, all the while cueing me on what to expect. The part that really blew me away was his willingness to explain my condition, next steps of care, & expectations. He answered all my questions without once seeming bothered or rushed. From the eye care specialist in the local community that I've visited, Karp has a good reputation. He lived up to it during my visit. Writing this review on behalf of my husban Ronny Matos, recently did PRK surgery with Dr. Karp, like every business now a days before you pay you get treated fantastic its almost as if they can see that dollar sign on your Forehead, once you pay things change rather quickly. My advice to people just because Dr has 20 years plus experience doesn't mean he wants you to be able to come out of this treatment feeling great , it just means he knows very well how this transaction works , it's a system you sign disclosures and if you heal great, if you don't, then maybe surgery was not for you, but you will be 110% sure is not their fault. Why ?? I will recommend read the disclosures they don't guarantee anything, the disclosures say among many things machine could malfunction and is nothing they could do, to hopefully you getting better to the point of not needing glasses they can't guarantee that, but you know what that's not why I'm upset. What bothers me is that my husband explained to them he works in front of 2 monitors handling sensitive customer information, he told the doctor after the 2nd follow up he could not see, to see if the doctor could write him a note for him to take days off from work , doctor replied no , not knowing my husband has medical leave insurance he could use or benefits at work he can take advantage of while he recover his vision. They have done this many times they know the estimate time to recover yet they don't tell you, you will need more days to recover before you are able to go back to work. It's just a note recommending patient to take time to heal. How inhuman to say I can't do that, but I understand why, I'm sure the doctor thinks that note might implied they did something wrong and I'm sure they would never even try to put themselves in that position, instead of asking the patient more questions is easier to say no and move to the next person who is willing to pay. read more

**Updated review of actual surgery date** WOWWW just freaking wow! I walked in the so nervous because aside from the fact that I've never had a surgery in my life, this is my eyes we're talking about!! I was so anxious as to what was going to happen, and seeing videos on YouTube prior to my visit was freaking me out. I received some eye drops and took a Valium to relax my nerves, and once I sat down on that bed, I knew this was about to get real! I asked for a stress ball to hold while I basically get my eyes cut open lol I was in there with Dr. Karp and his assistant Heather who both kept me super calm during the whole procedure. Heather would do a countdown to make sure I know how much time I had per eye and that right there made it so much better because I felt like I wasn't alone throughout the surgery. In just a quick 10 minutes the surgery was over and done with. I sat up from that bed and instantly felt that my vision was much better. I started crying my eyes out and gave a hug to Dr. Karp for basically saving my life and giving me the vision I've been wanting for about 10 years!! Let me begin by saying...I had the privilege of being seen my Heather and Dr. Karp. The professional that they exhibited was refreshing. I didn't feel like I was being pressured, rushed or pushed into anything like I felt when I received a consultation from CorrectVision Weston. Heather made sure I understood all of what I was going to go through and what was expected of me for the upcoming procedure. Dr Karp was friendly and completed a thorough exam during the consultation and right before the exam to make sure everything was accurate. I had my procedure done 11/10/22 and I was told by Heather that the procedure lasted 5 mins but it seemed less than that to me. The prodecure wasn't bad like I had imagined it to be and was exactly what Dr. Karp described. To go through a surgery and 5 mins later have your eye site and no need for glasses is a wonderful thing. If you are like me, the thought of getting Lasik sounds like a great idea but terrifying. I read through almost all reviews (if not all) for all Lasik options in the area. I narrowed it down to 3 who I had phone calls or virtual consultations with. There were 2 Options comfortable with moving forward (one being a doctor recommended and one was LasikPlus). I ended up going in for an on-site consult with LasikPlus because they were available the next day, and also had better pricing & free future lasik touch ups if needed. Onsite consult: Let me start by saying that get very anxious at things like this. I have vaso vagal, which means I faint when I get really nervous (eye doctor, shots, etc). This was one of my biggest concerns with lasik. The staff is super friendly at lasik, but I did get really nervous and disoriented when they put in the eye numbing drops and started touching my eye with a little tool that looks similar to a pen (measures something about your eye). I did end up fainting, and thought this meant it would basically be a no go for me to get lasik. I spoke to Dr. Karp (who I had already met briefly after fainting) while finishing up my appointment and he was very calm and patient with me. He explained how we would handle me having vaso vago and that it wouldn't be a problem. If it was any other doctor I probably would have walked out right then, but I booked my appointment for the next week. Day of Lasik: I was super nervous but trying not to think about it. I was actually much more nervous the day of the consult (after the consult) and the following day. Once I decided I was going forward with Lasik I seemed to calm down. The day of the surgery I arrived at my 1:00 appointment, signed the paperwork, took the anxiety pill, and then did another quick eye exam to make sure everything looked good. After the eye exam they told me I should be out in 30 min or less. We went into the procedure room, which was more comfortable and less intense that I expected. There was some music playing which I liked. Dr. Karp was very calming and walked me though everything. The procedure was not nearly as scary or weird as I thought. It also went by quicker than I thought. I did not think I would faint at any point, but appreciated that Dr. Karp asked how I was doing every few minutes. I was out at 2:00 pm. I had an hour drive home, which isn't ideal because you are supposed to go to sleep as soon as possible after surgery. I was able to fall asleep a little but when we were almost home I felt my eyes starting to burn and water (expected). It felt like I touched jalapeños and then rubbed them all over my eyes. When I got home (around 3:00), I put drops in and tried to go to sleep. I kept waking up because of the burning but was able to get some sleep. Around 5 I woke up and took a tylonel bc the medicine wore off and I didn't think I would be able to fall back asleep with my eyes burning. After a short amount of time the pain went completely away and I slept until about 8:30. I wish I would have taken the tylonel sooner, but I didn't expect to stop the pain like it did. I woke up to put drops in and eat. I was amazed I could see (only a little hazy around lights). I was not tired at all, so I just listened to podcasts for a few hours before I was able to fall asleep. Woke up in the morning and eyes were great! I hope this helps anyone who is super freaked out by things like this, like myself! If not, I also watched a Jimmy Fallon & Taylor Swift you tube clip about her getting Lasik that is super funny and made me feel less nervous for some reason. read more

I had the best experience! I was really nervous to get Lasik. I don't wear contacts only glass's because I think touching my eye is weird and uncomfortable. The procedure did not hurt at all and was done in seconds. The doctors were really good at telling me how much longer and telling me I was doing great. The whole staff is very nice and answered all my questions I had. The recovering process was at home my eyes stung for only an hour with my eyes closed. Then I fell asleep for 4 hours and woke up to put my drops in. It was a little fuzzy my vision at first but later that night I could see across the room which I could only do so before with glass's on. I would just like to preface this review by saying that there is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Karp is wonderful at what he does, however, I feel as though anyone that is seeking to go to him for a consultation to get LASIK should know that he is very straight to the point and honest which I appreciated but his approach and tone in doing so came off very abrupt and lacked empathy. I was referred to him by another coworker to get a second opinion after another LASIK office said no to LASIK but yes to PRK, he was told the same but Dr. Karp advised that he was able to get LASIK. I was so excited at the possibility of being able to get this done I've always hated wearing glasses because I feel like it's a daily crutch and LASIK would ensure that I wouldn't have to take off work which was perfect. As a lot of the other reviews stated Heather was an absolute angel she was so kind and efficient she was the one who ran the tests before speaking to the Dr. After running the last scan on my left eye she warned me that the Dr. would likely say no to operating, I was devastated, but she took her time to explain as to why which made me feel better and already come to the acceptance that I wouldn't be able to do it. Unlike Heather who in a way softened the blow in how she broke the news to me Dr. Karp actually did the opposite. He told me he absolutely would not operate because my corneas are too thin from a condition I have (I had no idea I had any type of condition he was the first to say anything) told me if I wanted more info on it to look it up. What really got me was when he said people with my condition give LASIK a bad name. I'm sure his reason for saying all this to me was to make sure I didn't go through with getting the PRK at the other facility and potentially make my eyes worse but as the saying goes it's not what you say it's how you say it. After that appointment I got in the car and couldn't stop crying it took almost 5 minutes and talking to my mom to regain my composure and be able to drive. And let me not forget to mention I had to call the office back to have them go to him to get the name and spelling of the condition (keratoconus) because he kept saying it and speaking to me as if I already knew I had it. Also would like to make a point that another patient that also had just saw him was telling his wife "Wow well he's very straight and to the point." It's been proven to me multiple times that doctors are professionals in healthcare but not in empathy, once again it's not about what you say it how you say it. He seems to be a great doctor nonetheless thats very knowledgeable, my coworker has nothing negative to say about him, but anyone planning to go to him should have an idea in regards to his approach in speaking to people. read more

If you've decided to get LASIK, this is the place to do it! I debated going through the procedure for years and as most who have it done will tell you, I wish I would have done it sooner. I researched a few different physicians/offices and even had a consultation scheduled somewhere else, but when I found out about Dr. Karp through LasikPlus and saw his office was at Memorial, I immediately canceled my previous consultation and scheduled it with Dr. Karp. He is an absolute professional; answering any question I had and making sure I was at ease with the procedure. He has a wonderful staff, in particular Heather, who guided me through the whole process and was extremely helpful and pleasant to interact with. Now the procedure itself....I had it done yesterday Oct 1st, and I have to admit, it was a bit uncomfortable, absolutely ZERO pain whatsoever, but you'll feel pressure. I'd say it took a few minutes per eye, with the actual 'treatment' lasting seconds. I felt fine when I left, my eyes were just sensitive to the light, but once the anesthesia wore off (within the hour) is when I felt the worst of it. My eyes were burning bad, very watery and felt little sharp pains that felt like little zaps. I struggled to sleep for the first hour, but finally awoke after a good 5hr sleep and felt SO much better! I had the slight glares around light sources but vision was basically the same as if I had my contacts in. I do still have some red hickies on my left eye from the suction, but it'll clear up soon. Had my follow up visit today and to my surprise, I was able to read the 20/15 line! Incredible after just one day, I can only imagine it'll get better as my eyes heal and the vision stabilizes. I know how hard it is to make the decision to get LASIK done, but I assure you that you are in great hands with Dr. Karp. I cannot recommend him and his wonderful staff enough! read more

From the appointment , consultation day, procedure day, and check up the next day, Dr Karp , Heather , and staff is AMMAZIIIINGGGGGG!!! I can't stretch it enough ..... I had been wearing glasses for over 25yrs. Tried contacts twice but my eyes were so sensitive that it just hurt too much to ever wear them. Finally, after waiting for decades I decided to try Lasik. Spent a good while looking for a good surgeon and what type of surgery I should try. Lucky me, I found about Dr. Karp at LasikPlus and saw that one of his offices is less than 5 minutes from my house. Made the call and set up the consultation, but honestly they had me at "Hello". I am day two post op, seeing 20/15 !! Nothing but great things to say about my experience with Dr. Karp and Ms. Heather! Heather did a nice countdown each time the laser was doing it thing on my eyes which I thought was cool, because all I could see was black and it let me know when it would be over! After the procedure I was good to go home! Went straight home and went to sleep, woke up already seeing really great. Next day my sight was getting even better! The procedure went great ! It did not hurt at all but it does feels weird. It was so fast, each eye took about 2 mins for the actual eye part of it. Amazing results right as soon as you get up from the chair you can see. No more glasses or contacts for the rest of my life. Doctor Karp and his staff were great, quick and efficient with all the information. You are also able to finance what you can't pay. Dr. Karp and his staff are amazing. The free consultation was the first step I took before deciding if Lasik surgery was right for me. I read in a previous review that someone didn't like that they have you watch a video. Yes this is true but they have you watch a video while you're in the waiting room waiting to be called. Once you're seen they will address any concern you may have. They answered all my questions and the price for the procedure is very reasonable. They also offer care credit for financing. I did decide to get the procedure done, which went great. I originally had anxiety but Dr. Karp and his assistant talk you through the whole thing to put you at ease. The assistant does a count down each time and before you know it it's done lol. The whole team are friendly, knowledgeable, and care about their patients. Excellent doctor, staff, and facility. Dr. Karp and his staff are highly competent and professional. His staff is extremely respectful and likable. Everything runs smoothly, you can tell they have a lot of experience with these procedures. I appreciate that they talked me through the procedure, counted down (16 sec per eye), and assured me everything was going my well. They also called me a few hours after my nap to see how I was doing. In all honesty, this is hands down one of the best businesses I have ever received services for.
