I recently visited LaserAway at the Mountain View location after some time away. I had previously gone to the Palo Alto and San Mateo locations, so it felt great to return. I originally scheduled a Clear and Brilliant treatment and decided to explore additional options during my visit. Janeen made the entire experience exceptional. She greeted me warmly and even recognized me from visits years ago at the Mountain view location.. That level of attention made me feel valued as a long term client. Her professionalism, knowledge, and customer service stand out. She explained the new treatments clearly, including Potenza and Rejuran Pro, and answered all of my questions with confidence and care. Because of her, I purchased a new treatment package and look forward to getting started. I now live in San Mateo, and that location is less than ten minutes from my home. Having done full treatments at two other clinics in the past, I know what to expect. The intensity here was set far too low--which I flagged to the technician--and multiple spots were completely missed, with zero hair shedding after 2 weeks. When I called the front desk to raise my concerns, they weren't receptive to resolving it. I even emailed to the corporate customer service and they are not even responding. This clinic provides very poor client service. When they cancel patient appointments, they think offering a reschedule for 8 weeks later is acceptable, and for hair removal, it is not. And they are not at all nice or accommodating about it. They take a "throw their hands up in the air" approach- even telling me things like, well, we canceled 19 other patients too, which is unhelpful. And, it should be noted that they have canceled our appointments numerous times before and have kept my daughter waiting for over an hour at times. So, I have to tell, go to Skin Spirit instead. However, when I called today to schedule a lip filler appointment, the receptionist was extremely rude and impatient. She repeatedly spoke over me and did not allow me to finish my sentences. What was most disappointing was that her attitude noticeably changed once she realized I was interested in purchasing Juvederm filler and Botox. This shows not only a lack of professionalism but also how unsafe and careless their treatments are. Beware of buying packages here. They book you for appointments at least a month out and then they will cancel you last minute saying their nurse is unavailable. This happened to me atleast 4 times. Given you have bought a package with them, you are stuck or at their mercy to give you appointment slots. They also try to always upsell you new packages every time you visit by telling you have these rewards or points. I just purchased an 8-session package and was really looking forward to starting. Unfortunately, my experience so far has been very frustrating and unprofessional. I originally booked my first session for Thursday at 7:45 PM and even arranged for babysitting to make it work. When I arrived, I was told they didn't see my appointment in the system--despite me having text confirmation. I was sent home and the receptionist rebooked me for Monday at 7 PM, which I again received a confirmation text for. Then today, I received a call saying 7 PM was double-booked and that I'd have to wait if I still came at that time. They asked if I could come at 6:45 instead. I don't understand how this keeps happening. Why was the appointment double-booked in the first place? And why do I have to adjust my time again? I haven't even had my first treatment yet and I've already been rescheduled twice. Everything is going well at this location. I'm getting several types of treatments to help with skin tightening and brightening on my face. Rachel the Director is extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk to, Monica the nurse is very competent, answers, questions, thoroughly, and comply, and as good at what she does. She is a pleasure to be with in the treatment room. Dean at the front desk is very positive and friendly and enjoyable to interact with. I'm very satisfied working with these lovely women at this location. Also, Lisa Sosa is a joy as well. She works at both locations in San Antonio Rd. and in San Carlos and I really enjoy her energy and fun personality. She is also very knowledgeable and always answers questions well. This review is for the receptionist Yen. She seemed friendly when I checked in for my first appointment at this location but as I was checking out to schedule my next appointment for Potenza, she tried to get me to sign up for Thermage by mentioning that it would help to lift my lower face area(pretty much insisting that I have jowls!) First of, don't ever insult any patient/client if you want to sell a service that is similar to potenza by using radio frequency. If I ask about the service, you can explain it to me but I think it's just plain rude to tell someone that you need this done. She was pushy about it saying that they have a good deal going on for it and I declined since I stop have more potenza treatments and want to see how it would turn out. Fast forward to my 2nd appointment at that location last Saturday, Yen tried to get me sign up for Botox or xeomin but I told her I still want to see how these treatments go since I originally went with potenza. She kept pushing after I already declined and stated that this deal will be better than Black Friday and that I have points to use that will expire. I asked her when do they expire, do they expire 6 months from each service and she stated 6 months from purchasing so she stated that my points expire October 11. Never mind that she can't count because that would be 5 months from when I purchased my package for potenza but she also stated that it was my 5th treatment when it was only my 4th visit which my nurse confirmed as well as the representative that originally helped me when I signed up for it. Yen is a liar because I confirmed with LaserAway customer service and rep who signed me up that points expire 12 months from purchase! So o called the next day to see if I could speak with a manager at the MV location and someone answered stating they would to get one and about 7 minutes later being on hold, Yen answered. I asked her if I could speak with a manager and she asked me what it was regarding, and I told her that it was regarding my visit this past Saturday. She stated that she needed a little bit more details and that she would reach out to a manager, but there wasn't one there today I would get a call back on Monday. So I told her what my concern was about and called her out on her insulting me and lying about how many visits I've already had and about my points expiring sooner so that she could try to get me to sign up for a package of Botox or xeomin that she kept pestering me about even though I said that I would think about it MULTIPLE TIMES. She clearly doesn't understand that means no. She lied and said that she never said that it expires in six months and she tried to state that she was talking about the thermal treatments. I told her that I would appreciate it if she would take accountability for what she said because I heard her very clearly. She continued to deny it and cutting me off while I was still speaking and got very defensive and said that her manager was right by her when she said that when she never told me that my points expire in six months from the time of purchase . It's Tuesday and I haven't heard from any manager yet. I assume that she probably didn't even reach out to the manager to let her know of my concerns because it was about her. Don't come to this location if you want to be harassed about buying other treatments after saying no or being insulted by Yen. I paid, in advance by LaserAway's policy, for a facial. When I arrived, 45 minutes into the scheduled appointment time, they determined that my skin was too irritated to give me the facial. That's fine, but then they would NOT issue a refund. A refund for a service that I did not receive. I feel like they are not on the up and up. If they have to take your money in advance and can't find it in their best interest to refund your money if they deny the service, they are not an ethical or successful business. Mountain View is by far my favorite location in the Bay Area. Even though Santana is way closer, they never have openings, and I was not satisfied with the service there. I prefer to come to Mountain View because the girls in the front are so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very welcoming, the waiting area is very clean and roomy. Shelby is so amazing, she helped me schedule all my appointments and she wasn't pushy about selling me anything. If anything, I asked her what specials were going on and she would call me when they came up. I had my checks done by nurse Kerensa and she was amazing, she told me what she was going to do and listened to me when I had questions. It was painless and she didn't leave any bruising. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had a consultation call with Sophia, who was very knowledgeable. Everything she said sounded great, although it's clear she's a saleswoman with pushy undertones. She wanted me to fill out a form to see what I prequalify for loan wise, so I did it with her on the phone. I was able to see my different credit/loan options for laser hair removal, and at that point I notified her I wasn't ready to commit and wanted to talk with my partner about it. She made it clear we had been talking for 30 minutes already and "what do you think your partner will say?" I could see her trying to close in the sale but nonetheless asked her to call back later. Before committing thousands of dollars, I did more digging on LaserAway and this location had a handful of concerning reviews. It was enough for me to not want to go through with this company. It was also the highest quote I received, which sealed my decision. I called their front desk and asked them to cancel my follow up call with Sophia as I was not moving forward with LaserAway. I then had a missed call from Sophia an hour later. She texts me saying "Hi ___, I just left you an important voicemail, please give me a call back to avoid any issues with a credit line remaining open as it can impact you." I never committed to a financial plan so was worried about something that could affect my credit, so I called her back. Her tone instantly changed when I told her why I was choosing to not move forward and she kept going on about how they don't have bad reviews and and it would be unreasonable for a business to not have bad reviews. It got to a point where I just asked to please cancel and she informed me that she would forward my case to the financial department to close, but can't control if LaserAway will have any lasting impact on my credit. I was confused because she never told me anything I was filling out could impact my credit. We got off the phone only for her to call me back 5 minutes later to say " I just wanna let you know we don't have bad reviews, there's one and it's about a receptionist". This was blatantly false and she had no other intention but to call and harass/prove me "wrong". I laughed and hung up, shocked she called back to say that. My partner then called her to get more clarification on the credit impact she was talking about -- she stated to him I choose the option with a "hard pull", which I absolutely did NOT choose ANY PLAN, and that we should obtain a financial professional because clearly we know nothing. She got so nasty that I'm genuinely concerned she's done something with my information to cause a hard pull or other repercussions. The sales tactics in her were nasty and I would never do business with this company after this experience. I never once provided consent but this is exactly how they get you. I have been loyal to laseraway for years. Vanessa RN who treated me was great! Unfortunately, laseraway's customer sevice had DIED DOWN. No manners, they need to be retrained! Especially on phone calls! The front desk person named YEN was very rude. She sounded like a know-it-all but NOT really. I bought hydrafacial for me and 1500 worth of credits under my name. I wanted to use the 1500 credits for my brother's clear and brilliant and he was scheduled by yesterdays call with another front desk person. --back story: the previous front desk person (was nice) had a slight issue that she couldnt transfer my clear and brilliant for my brother and I freaked out as I bought $1500 worth credits not clear and brilliant. I was just asking YEN (next days call) if my I need to be with my brother on his first appointment just in case there might be a mishap. She asked me what my brother's number was and I said "another front desk person on a prior call couldnt find his number but I can tell you his name". Yen insisted by saying rudely "well I still need to get his number to find his profile because he will have the treatment" and of course it ended up not showing on the computer and she said "It is not showing on my end, what is your brother's name?". I said, "yes, just like i said earlier right?" I said his name and she randomly talked from afar and sounded like she talked to another customer. I said, "hello?" She said, "yes sorry i was talking to another customer here at the front desk. What do you need to know cause there are 2 customers here right now waiting for me here in the front." "Id like to know if I am needed to be with my brother prior to his appointment." And she said "how old is your brother? I said "26" she responded firmly "No because your brother is an ADULT" i explained to her "that is not my concern, I am concerned if I need to be present on his appointment just in case we might get double charged when I already paid it from last year." I love this place so much! all the girls working there are sweet and so accommodating, and I appreciated so much Yen, she welcomed me amazingly and made sure I felt comfortable and ready before getting my Clear and Brilliance session! LaserAway Groupon did not remove my hair. They got me in with Groupon and tried to sell me a package for treatment with results. I purchased hair removal of six sessions for one small area, my ears. The technician does something for a few seconds on each ear. No noticeable effect, soreness, or irritation was observed on any session. After my fifth session, I took a photo of my left ear (see photo). As you can see, and emailed it to LaserAway explaining:-- I have gotten five laser treatments and every time, I have been dissatisfied. The hair is not removed. I shaved for treatment and always grows back just as strong. Three weeks later, I have thick black hair growing where the laser treatment has allegedly been done. I have mentioned this to the store and every time to the technicians doing the laser treatment. I asked them to go stronger and to blast as much as they can and do not worry about my pain sensitivity. However they always do a quick job and when it's completed they give me the same warnings about not taking a shower going into the sun. I do not have any sensitivity my skin whatsoever. It seems as if the warnings are given to me to make me believe that something is actually been done. Katrina V. responded to assure me that she was certain the treatments had been done correctly. "How can you be so sure?", I responded. Katrina replied with "Sometimes our body's can be a bit resilient to change, and more treatments than average are needed to create the desired response." So she was trying to sell me more treatments to actually remove hair! Incredible! That's the plan. I was skeptical that Katrina could be so sure that the technician had done the correct job. I'd already asked her how she could be so sure, but she had not answered that question. So I made a list of clear, simple questions to avoid confusion (and to not let her dodge the question as she previously had). I wrote:-- Please be sure to answer all of the questions. Some of the questions refer to the prior attached photo of my L ear, taken less than 24 hours after my fifth treatment, showing a large number of hairs untouched by the laser. That photo appears earlier in this email thread. What did you do to verify the treatments have been consistent and correct per treatment protocol each time? What differences were noted between treatments? How did the laser manage to not burn the hair shown in the photo that was taken less than 24 hours following my session? How did the laser touch those long hairs that were not burned at all? How would the laser have any effect on hairs that it did not touch? When I notice that the laser did not even touch the problem area of my ear, then how can you be so sure that you, who were not even present in the room, are correct and I, the patient who received the procedure, am mistaken? How can you be so sure there was efficient transfer of energy to the target area with no scattering? What effects have you noticed on my hair from before my first treatment up until now? Please share your observations with me. I have experienced no direct effects of hair loss, nor any side effects of pain or sensitivity. (Please see my prior attached photo). Katrina did not respond. Two days later, I followed up with "Hi, Katrina. Did you get a chance to go through this email?" Katrina ducked this email, too. I contacted Groupon to explain the problems with LaserAway and their refusal to communicate with me. Groupon apologized and issued me credit. My sixth treatment, I had a nurse do the procedure. She said that because I hadn't shaved the ear hair short enough, and in the case of the former long hair that that could be the reason I hadn't gotten results. I used to get my first 2 laser hair removal at Santana row and one day they didn't have an opening and moved me to this location. Nowadays, I love coming to this location in mt view because of CeCe. She is so great , she would take her time and go through all the areas. Even the front desk staff are super nice and friendly too. Even though it is out of the way for me, but I don't think I would pick another laseraway location over this one. Update: I received a call from Shereen who works in their Client Experience Dept. She was very kind, patient, and helpful. She explained that while they can refund some of the $ when they do a refund it's per treatment so it would not end up being the full amount. She then went out of her way to find an opening at their locations close by (bc I didn't want to go back to Mountain View) and sent me the address and confirmation. I have been gifted 2 treatments and she apologized for the actions of the Mountain View staff member. I adjusted to 4 stars with 1 missing because I wish they could have provided a refund and the one front desk woman was just so rude. Thank you, Shereen and I will be headed to a new location for treatments now. Original review: I decided to wait for 24 hrs to write this review. I was very upset leaving this location yesterday and didn't want to just write an all-around angry review. I am still pretty upset at how the company and this location handled the COVID shut down along with my appointment after reopening. Before I begin I want to be clear that I know the shutdown and virus are not things we can control, but what a company does for its clients and the communication/customer service is completely within their control. I did not hear anything from LaserAway regarding my appointment that I had with them on April 14th. I knew the location was closed, but it would have been nice to hear what their plan was given that their whole process is based on time-sensitive appointments. I let this go due to the fact that we were in a pandemic, but I was leaning on the side of a refund due to the whole sales pitch and package information stating you need to do this every 6-8 weeks to get results. I did call before my appointment date and left a message. I never heard back. I then received a text message in early June asking if I wanted an appointment for the end of July and then a follow up saying they actually had one for July 7th. I took it. This would be 4 months since my last appointment with them. The Saturday before my appointment I received my confirmation text and I replied YES. It did not state anything about a 5 minute cut off and this will be important later. When I arrived and took a minute to put on my mask, I wore my n95 because I was nervous about being in a closed room with the technician, but as anyone who has purchased this package knows it is a lot of money and I either needed to finish the package or get a refund. I walked into the Mountain View facility at 10:06 (the woman at the desk said 10:07). There were the 2 front desk people and a technician sitting on the couch. I was told that they have a 5 min cut off (first time hearing this and it was my 4th appt and not in the text). The women then told me they could not see me. I was told I could reschedule. I then asked for a refund since the process and service I was sold does not seem to work with 3 - 4 month breaks in between. All my hair growth is 100% back to what it was before my 3 appointments. She said she can submit a ticket but then suggested my reason for wanting the refund was because I was late and then because I was not able to reschedule due to a trip I have coming up (RV and very safe). I reinformed her that it was due to the fact that I see no difference in hair growth and I never heard back from them. Of course, it does not help that they turned me away for being 6 min late. If a manager is reading this I feel a refund is fair given the inflexible nature of the company and lack of communication or reply during the shutdown. I'll wait to see if I am contacted, though I truly have no faith the woman I dealt with yesterday submitted a ticket on my behalf. I've been very unhappy with their service,specifically Botox and Xeomin. None of the treatments worked on me. Somehow at other places, when I pay the going rate, it works. Yet when I've been fooled into their discounts the treatment was disappointing to say the least. Maybe there's a correlation between what pay and what you get. But even with the discounts I'm paying $500+ for a session ( 55 units) so to waste that money is very frustrating. The headquarters reply to my claims were beyon rude. I've spent thousands at this place and finally I'm convinced not to go back. Some treatments like IPL worked okay but had to beg them to increase the power so I can get results. read more
