Laser Away's "Hair Removal" services are a scam. I went here for my underarms and after the recommended 8 sessions my hair became long, scraggly, and thin... Like an old man's ear hairs. They didn't cease to exist. I asked the front desk and they told me there's no guarantee of hair removal like their website and signage suggests, rather that there's hair reduction. I didn't spend $$$$ for hair reduction. I have no intention of going back and will be continuing to wax my underarms going forward. I went through a traumatic experience shaving for them before every session (used to blood baths when shaving because I get severe hand spasms and cut myself instead). I really wish I had known this prior to booking but they are savvy saleswomen and want your $$$$. I feel misled and taken advantage of. If you or someone you know are considering this service, I would strongly recommend not using laser until the science has actually been perfected and proven to REMOVE hair instead of "reduce" hair. I've been a loyal client of LaserAway and always appreciated the calm, professional environment, until recently. During a full body laser hair removal session on 4/27/25, someone knocked and immediately opened the door a without waiting for a response. I was completely exposed on the treatment table. It was shocking, humiliating, and a serious violation of privacy. I was told another nurse was trying to locate a laser machine. What was she gonna do, rollout the machine in the middle of my service if it was actually in fact in the room? That could've waited until my service was over!!! I reported the incident to Ashley, the manager, who said it would be investigated. In the interim, she offered me a free Hydrafacial session and said it would be placed on my profile in my app, which never happened! Weeks passed with no update. I followed up several times, only to be told that statements were taken from the employees involved in the incident, but still no resolution. Trying to reach Ashley directly became nearly impossible. Out of frustration, I contacted the Woodbury location (Ashley manages both locations) and the experience got worse. The first receptionist put me on hold for 7 minutes. When another receptionist, Paige, picked up, she was rude and dismissive. She even argued with me over how long I had been on hold, saying it was only 6 minutes not 7, and then said "I'm going to placed you on another brief hold", which turned into another 45 minutes. The level of unprofessionalism was unbelievable. Ashley never came to the phone or even try to make an attempt to contact me. I've called corporate 3 times now with no resolution. I still have prepaid sessions remaining, money I've already spent ( for laser hair removal and laser tattoo removal ) but I no longer feel comfortable or safe returning to either the Garden City or Woodbury locations. Ashley's handling of the situation has been completely unacceptable. What makes this even more disappointing is that I've spent close to $10,000 at LaserAway and referred friends and family because I used to trust this company. As a combat veteran whom recently came home, I wanted to do something nice and rewarding for myself and instead, I've been met with disrespect and negligence. They don't even offer a military discount or show any regard for clients who have served their country. In addition, businesses have capabilities to delete reviews or control profiles when leaving reviews. I had to edit a previous positive review I left months ago in order to leave this one!!!! I've gone to this LaserAway location for 2 things - laser hair removal and clear and brilliant facial. Valerie is so sweet and gentle with the laser (I've had her twice now)! The girls at the front are also the kindest, making every interaction warm and inviting. Although I'm not done with my laser treatments, I'd say the progress so far is great. As for the clear and brilliant, I just got my first one done yesterday so will have to see how that turns out. I put an inquiry online for a service - was quickly called back and sold a package. the following day was told I needed to have a "good faith" exam where i was told they require a letter from my doctor to proceed. i was not informed prior to being sold that this would be a requirement nor was I informed that there were no refunds. Had I known this, I would have just gone elsewhere. that day I told the girl who sold me the package that I wanted to cancel she responded 3 days later that there are no refunds. I was utterly shocked at how unprofessional she acted over the phone. It seems that Lindsey is not a good fit for her job. Please stay away from this place at all costs.
