The quality of care, however, is exactly what I expect from SkinSpirit: top-notch. I want to give a special shoutout to Roxette, my practitioner. She was so patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She answered all my questions with thorough detail and made me feel completely cared for. That's exactly why I drove over an hour from Shirley, NY--because I knew I'd be in good hands here. I recently moved to the area and was thrilled to find a nearby location. SkinSpirit's consistency from state to state gives me peace of mind that I'll receive the same products and standards wherever I go. Unfortunately, there's no SkinSpirit in Hawaii (yet!), which is the only reason I haven't signed up for a full membership. SkinSpirit, if you're reading this--please open a location on O'ahu! Their website is super user-friendly too. Booking appointments online is quick and convenient. You can log in, choose your practitioner (or let the system pick one based on availability), and confirm your spot in minutes. They'll send you appointment reminders that sync with your phone calendar, which I love. One small note: there is a $75 fee for last-minute cancellations, which is understandable. As long as you cancel at least 24-48 hours in advance by phone or email, you won't be charged. I've had to reschedule before and it was no problem. This location is inside a larger building with a prominent SkinSpirit sign outside. Just go in the main doors, head up the stairs, and the office is the first door on your left--it's easy to find. Alana was the woman who my appointment was with, I don't remember ever having an appointment with her before so this was a brand new "just-met" interaction. I made my appointment for a Brazilian and a leg wax. I take everything off because sometimes the waxers just do them both together, so I'm legs spread on her table with no underwear on and she tells me she "WON'T" do my upper legs, not "can't"... WON'T. She asks if I shaved recently and I said that I had like a couple weeks prior but that every 6-ish months, my hair starts to grow super SUPER fast and I go do a full leg wax to "reset it" in a way. I know how my body works and everytime I have done this before for the past I don't know how many years, the waxers have always been able to get the hair up. ALL of it. She rudely told me she would not attempt it and told me, NOT suggested, told me I had to wait two weeks. I said I wanted it done that day and if some of the hair did not come up, that is completely okay with me, I just needed it attempted that day. She told me VERBATIM: "professionally, I'm not even going to bother doing that." I was so shocked that she would say that in that tonality with a client. I wanted to get up and leave but I felt very awkward leaving since I'm on her table with my entire private area out and no wax done yet. So for my own dignity, I'm not getting up. I contemplate saying something but I NEEDED IT DONE and was not gonna start a full on fight when it was the last time slot of the day. So I stay and ask her to just do it, I had an appointment time and would like the service done that I am going to pay for. She then asked me in a very rude tone, something along the lines of: "well why do you even need it done today, why can't you wait?" I told her I had a sorority formal the following day and had no time to go that day or to wait for a wax. I needed it done for that day and I expressed that. Not that I should even have to explain why I need a damn wax. She then gave me a nasty/upset look and STILL REFUSED TO WAX MY UPPER LEGS. She told me that she would not have them charge me for a full leg and would have it switched to a half leg, however I did not care about that. I needed the service done but I was not going to argue anymore. I could not believe that she straight up refused to do a service I was practically begging her to do and booked an appointment for. I was SO pissed but I at least needed my other stuff waxed like I said, so I stayed and she waxed my lower legs and my Brazilian. When she was "done", I told her I felt a lot of hair on the back of my thighs, so she put some strips there, which obviously means I HAD HAIR THERE FOR HER TO WAX, so she must've just been lazy and wanting to leave early or something, which is insane to me, because I booked the damn time slot for it all.I don't care if I was BALD on my legs, I believe that if the client is asking you to perform a service for them that they are paying for, you should perform the service. If you want to ADVISE the client to wait a little longer, that's perfectly fine, HOWEVER, to be so BEYOND RUDE and actually COMBATIVE with a client who has an event the next day and is literally BEGGING you to do the service she booked an appointment for, that is absolutely unacceptable in my opinion. I was so put off by it and I decided to give the location one more change and I went with another waxer. For the next few weeks, I actually would take time out of my day to check all possible times that Alana would not be available so I did not have to experience her disgusting attitude again. Which is insane that I had to do that. I went back with another waxer out of convenience and that was that. It's already awkward enough and there's a certain factor of a lack of dignity when your private parts are wide open on a stranger's table. Don't make it 100 times worse by treating the client like garbage on the street. Disgusting.

My mouth became visibly crooked, and I could barely open my mouth properly -- even smiling normally became difficult. I was terrified and emotionally overwhelmed. I suspected that the heat from the procedure may have affected a facial nerve. The recovery process lasted nearly six months. During that time, eating, speaking, and even taking photos became stressful and emotionally draining. What disappointed me the most was not only the result itself, but the way the clinic handled the situation afterward. There was no professional explanation, no proper follow-up, and no real concern regarding the functional issues I experienced after the treatment. Because I had continued trusting their explanations, I later returned for an IPL treatment -- and unfortunately, another accident happened. This time, I was burned. After the procedure, my neck developed obvious redness, broken skin, and scabbing, resembling a thermal burn. Even now, I worry about permanent hyperpigmentation and scarring. The scariest part of medical aesthetics is not simply "bad results." It's when operators lack proper control of energy-based devices, do not fully understand facial anatomy and skin structure, and fail to take responsibility when complications occur. Many people think IPL and RF microneedling are "simple beauty treatments," but these are still high-energy procedures. When performed incorrectly, the damage can go far beyond cosmetic issues and may affect normal function and long-term recovery. I'm not writing this out of anger. I'm sharing my experience to genuinely warn others. Before doing any cosmetic procedure, please make sure: * The provider is truly qualified and experienced * They understand facial nerves and skin anatomy * They have proper aftercare and accountability if complications happen * You do not blindly trust phrases like "risk-free," "simple," or "completely safe" Medical aesthetics are not the same as basic skincare.
