I'm so incredibly disappointed in the fact that I've lived in this area for like 10 years and I was today-years-old when I finally tried Las Tortas. It's got sweet music playing, it feels authentic as heck, and the food is to die for. I went simple and got the norteña as it was my first time in, but I'm already jacked about my next trip so I can try....everything. Service is pretty quick - they're making everything when you ask for it, so it takes a minute, but it's still darn fast. The sandwich was also pretty darn large. I mean, yeah, sure, I absolutely scarfed the whole thing but it was so darn good, how can I not? Las Tortas has been on my radar for a while since a coworker has been raving about them. This is a small family-feel-run place that you know is a local neighborhood's secret. Non pretentious, with a small but tasty menu, there isn't anything that I wouldn't recommend ordering. These tortas are so good, they even keep well to be ate at a later time or as leftovers. It has a budget Chipotle feel to it which if you have been to allot of these dive strip mall joints like me is a huge upgrade over some of those other spots! Here are all the ingredients in no particular order: Bread - Mexican Bread Mayo Beans Tomato Onion Fresh Avocado Cheese Chipotle sauce Meat or meats of choice All grilled Panini style and served with a side of pickled jalapenos I opted for the one with grilled chicken and pork and the BF ordered the pork and milanesa (breaded steak). These sandwiches are the size of my head and definitely more than I can eat in one sitting without having a heart attack. Ah yes, my first time at Las Tortas was confusing to say the least. So wanted to share some wisdom with you all, now that I have been here a few more times. There are only tortas at Las Tortas. Go figure! Everything on the menu is different variations of tortas, Mexican-style sandwiches. This may seem obvious, as in the name. But I was confused and took it upon myself to ask the employee if there were any other items on the menu, in which he replied "no, only tortas." Haha! So to save you the embarrassment, do not ask such silly things. So, a whole menu of tortas! How fantastic! Super juicy meats! But greasy, so if you are going to eat here, plan accordingly. Not a good day to wear skinny jeans or have any productivity after your meal. Food coma begins shortly after eating your first half of the sandwich (they cut them in half). So you either scarf down the second half quickly before falling into a deep slumber or you wrap it up and save it for tomorrow (which is probably the best bet, but too delicious to do). read more

The international food group the hubs and I are in came here over the weekend. The menu is impressive but wasn't available on line for me to obsess over before arriving. That left me looking over the wall menu and asking a lot of questions to the very patient woman who helped us. I finally settled on one of the basic tortas (i.e., not smothered or one of the "especial" options) with carnitas. The staff points out a diagram of what comes on the torta - mayo, beans, cheese, tomato, onion, chipotle sauce and avocado. I took it all minus the onion. The bread was grilled but still soft, the carnitas a little fatty and salty just like I like it and the whole thing was scrumptious. And really really filling. The hubs ordered the same thing with added chorizo. He was very happy with his meal. We shouldn't have but we ordered a side of fries to split. It is way too many fries for one person but they were really good too. We left stuffed and happy. read more

Even if the place was a complete dive (which it is not), the value would be absolutely worth it. My girlfriend wanted to make sure that I added that it is really cold inside - they must have the A/C cranked high.
