The crew who cut my tree and hedge were friendly, professional, and very respectful of my property. They did an excellent job and made the whole process easy and stress-free. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and affordable tree service and will absolutely be using them again in the future!

I didn't have a clear vision for my yard, but somehow Tom Bates created a plan that turned it into…read moresomething better than I ever could have imagined. He's incredibly knowledgeable about the trees in the Concord area--from our towering Italian cypresses to redwoods, olive trees, and overgrown mulberries--and knew exactly how to handle everything. His crew tackled a huge job: weeding, pruning, trimming, clearing duff, and completely transforming the space into something that honestly looks like a national park. We first hired him for a massive cleanup when we moved in last year, and the results were so beautiful (and reasonably priced) that we called him back again. Each time, his team showed up on time, worked efficiently, and left the yard spotless. Tom has a rare mix of artistry and practicality--he listens to what you want and translates it into what your yard actually needs. During the estimate, he walked the property with us, collaborated with his coordinator DeAndre, and had a clear, fair quote ready by the time we finished the loop. I almost hesitated to write this because he feels like a hidden gem--but his work is too good not to share. Text or call him at #925-752-8203.

New Life Tree Service

Reached out to Duane on a Sunday after watching coverage upon coverage of fallen trees and land…read moreslides. Situation: There was a 3 1/2 to 4-story pine tree in the backyard, sitting on a downward slope towards the house. If it were to fall, then my house would be an inhabitable shack. There was also a tree out front with a hole at the split, clearly diseased and ready to go. Responsiveness: Duane responded within the hour of my Yelp inquiry and was able to come out the. very. next. day!! In-person estimate: Duane took the time to examine both trees, walk the yard perimeter, and even looked at a leaning redwood that was not in scope but leaning towards a power line. He was extremely patient as I asked a million questions since this is my first time taking down a tree that size. Price: Duane was competitive and transparent about his pricing. I had 4 others come out if that helps to put things in perspective. License: When I asked for proof of insurance, he provided them quickly so I can make an informed decision. For a job like mine, where people are scaling trees, I had to verify there's liability and workers comp coverage. Trust me when I say that just a license number on a business card is not enough... Service: amazing! Brian and crew showed up on time, ready to go. Throughout the day, the team was extremely communicative about their progress. I live on a hill with public easement and they were responsive when I asked them to move trucks so my neighbor could get through. They worked so swiftly that my yard was cleaned up and set up back to normal in no time! They even helped me salvage and move a few big pieces to the front of the house as memorabilia! Overall, would highly highly recommend!!

"They trimmed up to 20 feet. Looks awful." (property management board member)…read more"That tree trimming is not good." (a professional tree trimmer) Why are these people expressing negative opinions about New Life Tree's (NLT) work trimming our fir trees? A) The NLT Owner, Duane, Misinterpreted my instructions and made Incorrect Assumptions B) The NLT Foreman was incapable of Following Directions, Giving Directions and Leading Below are the Details - Owner Misinterpreted instructions and made Incorrect Assumptions Duane, the owner, showed up shortly after his crew of approximately ten men arrived. I carefully explained that I wanted our fir trees trimmed so the branches would be ten feet above the ground. He interpreted that to mean we wanted the branches trimmed ten feet higher than their current level, which he thought was too high. Did he ask for clarification? NO! Instead he just said "Okay", and then later told his crew to cut the branches right at the trunk three to five feet above their existing height. Inexplicably, some of his crew trimmed our branches more than nine feet higher! The result: the lower parts of our fir trees are completely bare, in some cases close to twenty feet above the ground! Another board member asked in exasperation, "Why did they trim the trees so high?!" - The Foreman was Incapable of Following Directions, Giving Directions and Leading The next day I tried to correct the above mistake with the few remaining untrimmed fir trees at the back of the property. I told the Foreman to trim branches up to ten feet or three meters off the ground. He nodded and said okay, then started cutting a branch as high as he could reach - about 17 feet up! Later that day I spent ten minutes explaining I wanted certain fir trees trimmed five feet from the buildings, as measured both horizontally and vertically. "Think of it like a five foot stick", I explained, "if one end of the stick is touching the building and the other can touch the branches, trim to that point BUT NO FURTHER." The Foreman then talked to a young crewmember, relaying the instructions in Spanish. (both men could communicate with me in English). I asked them if they had any questions; they said no. I stated if anything came up or they needed any clarification to please see me. When I came outside 90 minutes later, I could not believe my eyes. On several of our fir trees, they cut branches off one side up to sixty feet in height, far above the roofs of our buildings. I was shocked! When I demanded an answer from the Foreman, he blamed his counterpart, saying the younger coworker thought the trees should be trimmed well above the buildings. "Why didn't you come get me to clarify my instructions!!" I demanded. He just shrugged. Now those fir trees look imbalanced, noticeably sheared off one side and naturally spread out on the other. I do agree with the board president on this point: they charge reasonable rates and did a decent job trimming / thinning our deciduous (leafy) trees. However, I never want to hire New Life Tree again; the pain of seeing the branches of our majestic 35 year old fir trees chopped beyond our specifications is too much.
