You're in. You're out. This place is pretty busy. And for good reason they have great homemade salsa, friendly staff and a truck stop across the street and very busy Chevron stations. They are based next door to. They have beer and margaritas. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Plus they have some lovely little palapas which are confront tables outside which is the name sake of the restaurant. So if you like a lovely sunny afternoon lunch, this place is perfect. I've had the bean and cheese burrito. I thought it was excellent. I think the beans are super creamy other than the carne asada. I also thought it was good. I would give less than a one if I could. As a long time customer I have always enjoyed this place. But that changed today. I ordered an asada burrito. Upon the first bite I could tell something was wrong. I tasted a small separate piece of meat and yup it was rotten. 2 young men were operating the facility on a Sunday they made another burrito. I asked them to test the meat. They did and said they were not sure but it seemed okay. And before I left I tried the meat again and it was still rotten but not as bad as the first. They were not properly trained to handle that situation and they should have stopped serving the meat. And the owner didn't even want to make me another burrito and that it came out of the kid who was making the burritos pocket. Owner wasn't there. And from the sheer ignorance to assume the meat was good when it wasn't without the owner trying it. Really put a damper on things. I used to really enjoy going here. But I won't ever go back. And I hope people don't git sick how I did after eating just the one bite. If a restaurant can't stand behind there food and make sure the customer is taken care of they don't need to be in business. Very nice customer service by the single/only person that appeared to be on staff at the time of our visit. I love to get a shredded beef taco in a hard shell, but well, they were out of shredded beef and didn't have rolled tacos. So we opted for a steak taco and a couple of quesadillas. Never seen a quesadilla like this one, some meat and cheese sandwiched between 2 small flour tortillas. The soft corn shell on my beef taco was soggy and fell apart, but the meat did taste really good. The whole adventure wasn't really filling as the portions were just a bit small for the prices. (Btw the menu board didn't have any prices on it so we had to order price-blindly) Again, the food was tasty but I kinda wish we'd chosen to go to the Taco Bell next door. read more

Has a fair sitting area but for $11.99 for three carne Asada St. tacos that had maybe 4, 1/4" pieces of Carne Asada in there no cheese no fillers. I do not recommend this place. Had to stop for gas in Yuma at lunch time, and happened to notice this little Mexican place next to the gas station. Literally the best fish tacos I've had in a long time. Tables to sit and eat and take a break from your drive. I ordered to go, and my order was ready in just a few minutes. But the food was as good as the best authentic Mexican good I've had. We waited and waited. I finally asked how much longer. The lady said "you didn't get your food yet?" I replied with "no" she said "why didn't you tell me?" How was I supposed to know she would forget? She asked me what would make it right. She should of just offered a refund of a gift card for the future. Terrible. We recently moved to Yuma and have made Las Palapas our go to restaurant and go almost twice a week. It is kind-of a bit of a dive but the food is authentic. WE WILL NO LONGER GO THERE (!!!) as the OWNER has told his staff that they are no longer allowed to make their fish tacos grilled, that they have to remain deep-fried!!!!! What-the-heck!?!?!? No reason given. I have food allergies as well, CAN NOT EAT FRIED FOOD. What kind of an establishment "turns away" business??? When I was told they could no longer prepare grilled tacos for us, I was also told we are NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMERS who order grilled tacos. SUCH A SHAME as we used to take visiting family and friends. I was craving tacos and came here to have lunch with my brother. I ordered the carne asada tacos I also wanted to have a birria taco but was told they don't make them anymore even though they have it up in the menu ( they should probably remove it from the menu), there wasn't many people there so I couldn't understand why it was taking so long since I only ordered three and my brother four tacos. They had the doors open so there were flies inside and they have an open salsa bar so I think they should have covers for when they do have the door open. The limes they have are the very tiny ones and were so dry that when I squeezed them they were very tart. The carne asada tacos were a mixture of burnt and fatty meat. The 1st fish taco was hot, succulent & tasty but the second was much smaller, stringy with a darker fishier fillet. Not nearly as good as the 1st taco. The servings of beans & rice & chips are generous. The guacamole was okay but did not seemed freshly made, most likely packaged. The 32oz soda (Pepsi products or iced tea) was also large but I wanted carbonated water & there wasn't a soda-only option on their machine. Stopped in for a quick bite before our drive back to Phoenix around 10am and was very happy to see they were opened so early in the day! I ordered one carne asada and taco and one baja shrimp taco with a side of beans. The carne was sooo good, especially with all the fixings you can add from the salsa bar! The shrimp taco was a bit of a let down with tiny shrimp engulfed in fried crust. This may sound weird, but the beans were the best part! So fluffy and delicious!
