As a visitor from California, I kept hearing the same thing from everyone: "You have to try a chilaquiles taco while you're in Texas." So when I asked our family where to get one, they brought us to Las Palapas. I'm glad they did because this taco absolutely lived up to the hype. The chilaquiles taco was packed with flavor and unlike anything I've had back home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To wash it down, I ordered a Big Red soda, which isn't something you typically find at restaurants in California. I had heard about it before, but this was my first time trying it, and honestly, my mind was blown by how good it was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was excellent as well. Our server brought out all of their different salsas for us to sample, and I believe there were four varieties to try. It was a great way to experience the different flavors and find a favorite. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere, and we were told this was one of the larger Las Palapas locations. I'm not completely sure if this is the exact location we visited, but I still wanted to leave a review because the experience was so enjoyable. I still love coming here and getting the chicken tortilla soup. It is fresh, hot and comes with all the fixings. Last night I got a cherry tres leche cake. The cake was so moist and the cream was so tasty. I went drove through instead of stopping in. They were quick and had excellent service. read more

I went to the Churchill Las Palapas last week for their Rollback Special which was the Enchilada's Verdes, and boy, did they deliver! The plate of food I picked up was loaded. The enchiladas had plenty of shredded chicken in them and they were topped off with the green sauce and a big dollop of sour cream. My charro beans were served in a separate container that I failed to take a picture of. Everything was served hot and it all tasted so good. I love the pricing for their Rollback specials and will continue to go back for more. read more

Went last week 7/20/24. I ordered a potato&egg, country sausage&egg and a bean& cheese. The country and egg had a HUGE piece of egg shell which absolutely grosses me out and makes me throw up. I called to let them know and they offered to replace my meal. I went this morning 7/29 for my replacement and now the POTATO AND EGG has shell I appreciate that they use real eggs but how hard is it to crack and egg and make sure there isn't any egg shell. This review applies ONLY TO THE LAS PALAPAS PROPERTY AT O'CONNOR ROAD AND NORTH LOOP 1604. It does NOT apply to any other property. This also only applies to our visit on Feb 28, 2025. The food was fine. My partner had the lunch special of cheese enchiladas, rice, and beans and a slice of flan. Food was hot and tasty. Only problem with the food was, for the second consecutive visit, too many gnats around the table. I had the creamy shrimp enchiladas and the food was excellent. Chips were even nice and warm. The problem with this visit was more about the service or rather the lack of it. We had a middle aged male server who seemed to be bothered by our presence or maybe he didn't remember we were there. He never came by to check for needs of drink refills (unsweetened tea). We had to get up and go get ice for the tea; even then, were met with a language barrier. Later, we had to get up and go request a take-a-way box and the check. This server, if he had any good experience at all, was not on the ball today. Will we go back? Probably, but will ask for a different server if we do. Good luck, Las Palapas; your good food deserves better service. read more

This Las Palapas has gone down hill. They NEVER get my order right. I ordered an asada taco with no cilantro add queso fresco cheese ON HOMEMADE CORN!!!! It wasn't on corn, they forgot the guacamole salsa that goes on it and it was full of fat and gristle. The chicken breast fajita on the homemade corn was in pieces when I got home. This morning I was actually acknowledged not too long after entering the restaurant by Angelica. She gave me a warm greeting before taking my order. Wow, what a difference! On previous visits I've waited and been ignored by passing wat staff, and when someone did come to take my order, I never was greeted. I always felt like I was a bother. Kudos to Angelica. Our group showed up in Las palapas this Saturday April 27th at 11:00 to the Las palapas on Blanco Road. Walked up and it looked like they restaurant was shut down. Turned out they were open but they just had two tables to sit people. They didn't want you to sit in the other tables. Looks like they were ready to go at 11:00 when closing was 12:00 midnight. We asked if they had menudo. The manager on duty said oh no we're out. Which I find hard to believe cuz they freeze that stuff. Then he proceeded to tell us that the location on West avenue has menudo. And being from the area I kind of figured they were closed cuz they close early. But he insisted they were open and they had menudo. In other words he was just trying to get rid of us and send us to somewhere else which turned out to be closed. Now I've always bought food to go from Las palapas. But after being treated that way by the manager of this location I will never go there again. read more

First let me State this is not my cup of tea. I very seldom if ever write a review on a business. However this morning I've gotten to the point that my story needs to be shared. For the record I like the food and have been a dedicated customer for many years. Today I went for my traditional breakfast tacos and experienced inconsistent pricing of my standard order. Over the last week I have ordered the same thing and gotten three different prices this is ridiculous. I left feeling taken advantage of. today they charged me $3.99 for bacon taco. and when asked to purchase the 2.99 mug I was told it would be 4.99. I don't understand it because nowhere on the menu does it State 499 it only States 299 for the mug. Considering they charge a ridiculous amount of 2.99 for a drink . All of which points too greed and price gouging. People let's get real the pandemic is over this kind of pricing is going to kill your business, at least for me a once dedicated customer - am forced due to your policies and inconsistent pricing, am now forced to look for an alternative for my daily breakfast tacos.
