While staying at the resort we have included breakfast through the Bonvoy Program and were incredibly wowed by the quality of both the service and the food on our stay. Custom omelettes and beautiful fresh fruits along with all manner of pastries made for a delightful breakfast. This laid back lounge has both couch seating in the main area and outdoor table seating that's sure to please. The staff were all so friendly and helpful we absolutely loved our time there and lingered a bit longer than we might otherwise have had we eaten elsewhere. Tucked away in the Playa Largo resort is this great little sushi and ceviche bar. If you aren't staying at the resort it is located right off the lobby so it's easy to park up front and walk in. My visit was during the pandemic so while the menu is somewhat limited, you can find delicious options to satisfy anyone in your group. We had the ceviche of the day which was made with snapper this day and was quite good although I was expecting it to be a little more like Peruvian ceviche with corn and slices of onion. This was a little simpler option. We also had the tuna poke which was my favorite of the options. It was very fresh and flavorful. And we also tried the spicy tuna roll with mango which was also good. We ended with this amazing dessert which was like an ice cream sandwich with shortbread cookies and coconut. Delicious! This place also pours a good drink as my martini was well done. And service was spot on. Mason our server and between him and the bartender our glasses were never empty and our stomachs were full. I'm sure after the pandemic this place will offer even more options as the menu was a little limited (only 2 sushi rolls) but I was happy they were open and serving. We also order drinks, but my Peach Spritz (Grey Goose White Peach and Rosemary Vodka, Prosecco, Lillet Blanc, Rose Water, Orange Bitters) was $16 and it tasted like champagne and peach schnapps. Again, overpriced and not worth it. There was one friendly waitress working and she was managing the bar. When we asked for our check, we had to get up and go get it because there were too many people for one worker. So I would never visit this restaurant as the ceviche was overpriced and not good. I was pretty disappointed with this place. The food has good flavor, but the portions were TINY and prices were expensive. I understand this is a Resort, but I honestly thought it was a little ridiculous. The waitress did mention the portions were small, but they were smaller than I expected. She brought us other menus from different restaurants in the resort, we got the bruschetta, that was from another menu as well, but it wasn't even bruschetta. It was for cherry tomatoes chopped in half on top of a small piece of cracker. The menu said it came with basil, it came with arugula instead. The service was pretty bad as well, and we were the only two people in there. I know she was serving people on the patio as well, but for a place where I'm paying $20 for food the size of my thumb, I Who would've appreciated a little more attention. We waited over 30 minutes and did not get service, no one even acknowledged us. The bartenders both walked past us multiple times and didn't even acknowledge us. I ended up having to go to the bar to try to get the attention of the staff, where the bartender seemed too preoccupied explaining her tattoos to some random bar guest than providing customer service. Slow service aside, it was pretty disgusting to watch the bartenders put ice cubes on dirty bar mats and then into drinks. It would be more beneficial to utilize some sort of utensil than to use your hands to put ice into guests drinks too. Putting dirty ice really seems against some form of health code standard. Definitely a huge disappointment, especially as an Autograph property. We ended up leaving after waiting for 45 minutes for a basic cocktail. read more

Las Olas is beautiful, located inside the Marriotts Playa Largo Resort, just off to the right of reception. This isn't a restaurant, more of a bar & lounge that serves some really good Peruvian Ceviche. We came here for dinner based on the reviews. We ordered a Mango Cali roll and a Rocoto ceviche as appetizers and for entrees my 2 kids ordered the Herb Marinated chicken sandwich, my husband had the Grouper with yucca fries, asparagus and Huancaína sauce and I ordered the Playa Burger. For some reason, the kitchen was taking an awfully long long time to get food out despite the place being pretty much empty. The waitress came to apologize about it taking so long. Then they brought out our appetizers with the meal. Appetizers we had ordered a good 15 minutes prior to ordering our dinner. It was uncomfortable due to the small size of the tables and all the dishes would not fit. The waitress had to put my burger plate on the seat next to me. The dilemma now was, should we eat out cold appetizers first before they get warm, or eat our dinner before they get cold. We started eating everything together and then noticed that they had brought us the wrong ceviche. They brought the classico which is only fish instead of the Rocoto which has fish, octopus and shrimp. I alerted the waitress who took it and brought the correct ceviche about 20 minutes later. My son said his chicken sandwich tasted good but the chicken was tough and dry. Daughter said the same. My husband said the Grouper lacked flavor and was dry. The Huancaína sauce did NOT taste like Peruvian Huancaína sauce at all! The yucca fries and asparagus were good. We wrapped up the ceviche and my burger to go and when I got to my room, my burger was so raw in the middle I couldn't eat it. I ate around the outside and threw out the rest. I had such a great experience here all thanks to Jason. On Monday night, stopped in for dessert and a drink and met Jason, the mixologist bartender. He educated us on some interesting drinks and brought one of the best key lime pie deserts I had in the Keys (and I tried several pies during my week in the Keys). Decided on Tuesday to have dinner here and it was honestly the best dinner I had my entire trip. Jason allowed for us to order food from the restaurant downstairs so that we could enjoy dinner with his specialty drinks and I can honestly say that of my entire week in Florida, this evening was the best dinner experience (and I encourage all of you to have dinner here, it's totally worth it). So, ordered a 30 day dry aged steak, asparagus, broccoli and mash potatoes which had a really tasty parmesan chip in it. Jason made me an old fashion, which was really great (it was actually mind blowingly great) ...then I had a glass of pino noir which paired with my dinner perfectly. Then Jason made this delicious apple drink which was sooo good. He also explained each step as to how he made it (he also explained how he made the old fashion which was also pretty complicated and amazingly creative). Before venturing off to the fire pit to enjoy my apple drink, I met Ryan, another talented mixologist (this place really knows how to hire bartenders). It was really great meeting Jason and Ryan and next time I am in the Keys, I will definitely choose to stay at this resort. read more

Growing up in South Florida, I've had my share of ceviche. This is bar-none the best I have had. Chef Carlos is Peruvian and his ceviche and sushi rolls are so darn tasty. Prices are pretty good - about $13 average for a dish. My fav was the tuna. Sushi rolls are big. The restaurant is right off the main lobby inside the new Playa Largo resort. Gorgeous decor with lots of color and textures. But oh that ceviche! This is a must-try while you're in the area. They also have a full bar with way cool cocktails made with exotic fruits and such. We were able to sit in the outside lounge area and enjoy the beautiful views of the bay. Lei was an amazing server that we talked to for quite a while. She really was the highlight of our dinner. Nothing special about either dish and the seasoning is off (not seasoned like the traditional dishes). We were very excited to come here, based on the reviews and pictures. We had 2 nights on Key Largo, and after eating here, we were bummed to have wasted one of them here. We ordered sushi, and it was the worst I've had in my life. Ingredients were missing from all 3 of the rolls we ordered (it was suppose to have mango...not a trace in the actual roll). Not to mention, they were poorly formed and mostly rice. We sent them back and wanted to leave, but the manager convinced us to stay, saying she could get us absolutely any food we wanted. We ordered some kind of fish tacos. They were fine, but we were annoyed they took 30 minutes to come out (at this point we had been here an hour and not eaten). We got the bill, and I was honestly shocked we had to pay for the tacos. (I don't expect free food...but after how bad the sushi was, and having to wait twice...also the way the manager said she would take care of it...I was just surprised.) It was suppose to be my last sushi before getting pregnant....the biggest disappointment ever. The bartender was nice though. WORST CEVICHE EVER!!! I love ceviche. I have lived throughout North, Central and South America, including Texas, Arizona, Mexico and Costa Rica, and have eaten ceviche for many decades in innumerable restaurants throughout these places. Never have I encountered such a pathetic excuse for ceviche than at Las Olas in Key Largo. Ceviche can be prepared in very diverse ways, but all recipes share in common that the fish be ADEQUATELY "cooked" (technically the protein in the fish is denatured) in an acidic solution , typically lime juice. The ceviche I was given at Las Olas was RAW grouper over which a teaspoon or less of some kind of acidic juice was dripped for a few minutes. I like sushi and have no aversion to raw fish, but I asked for ceviche, not sushi! Further, even if the grouper itself had been correctly prepared, there were very few additional ingredients, traditional or otherwise (e.g., onions, hot peppers, cilantro, garlic) that complement the flavor of the grouper which by itself is rather bland. In sum....YUCK! read more

Came to stay in a bungalow at the Playa Largo for a friend's birthday. We decided to go to the patio at Las Olas for dinner while we waited for the rest of our friends to arrive. We ordered sushi and ceviche to share and notified the waiter that one member of our party had a severe allergy to avocado and to make sure it was not served in any of our items. The food came and we started eating. When I took a bite of the sushi I realized that it had avocado in it. We didn't notice initially because it was dark outside and my friend with the allergy had unfortunately already eaten some. When a waitress came over we let her know that there was avocado in the sushi and we had informed the waiter to make sure that didn't happen. She went inside and checked the ticket and informed us that the allergy was noted on the ticket that went to the kitchen, but avocado was still in the roll. She offered to bring water to dilute the avocado in my friend (she had already started throwing up). The manager came out and offered to bring us out a roll without avocado. We said we didn't want any more food from there and just wanted to leave. The bill was brought out (which included the sushi and 18% gratuity). It was an overall awful experience and I would not recommend going here. read more
