Really liked the mix of classic and inventive flavor combinations. The "Greek Goddess" was a particular favorite.

Pork with yellow rice lunch special.

Small little restaurant located in the Wescott neighborhood. I stopped in for lunch there recently for the first time. This is a Caribbean restaurant. I had a lunch special that was pork with yellow rice which was quite tasty and reasonable priced as well. My dinner special with a soda (Tropicola) was under $10. Is this the best Caribbean food I've ever had? No. But it was quite good for the price. I'll be back.

    Large Cuban Sandwich - $9.00

I'm not sure how we got here, but we wanted the best Cuban sandwich in Syracuse, ASAP. To make matters more interesting, we had never tried a Cuban sandwich, or really anything genuinely Caribbean. By the way, it turns out that Syracuse literally has infinity places to get Caribbean food. We made this place our first after some heavy pushback from Esquina Habanera. We were ordering blind, but it all felt pretty low risk. The Cuban sandwich definitely lives up to the hype. I voted for Esquina, my girlfriend voted for this one, but both are absolutely required to try. I prefer the compact feel of a grilled sandwich, but I couldn't forgive the lack of ham and mustard. Sometimes if I'm in the area, I'll stop in just for empanadas. They have the perfect duality of crispy outside, soft inside I haven't seen matched anywhere else I've tried. The maduros were an entirely new thing for us, as were plantains at all. It took me some time to make them work. You want them to be sweet, or savory, and they're almost both. The day we got these, I ate them with maple syrup, and then I contemplated for a long time if I should ever tell anybody about it. The chicken stew was slow cooked and the meat fell off the bone. Loved the flavor, and the entrée pairs well with a sandwich. I ordered this a 2nd time instead of trying something else on a later visit. It was a pretty serious violation, but the meal is that good. I also tried the Stew Oxtails for lunch. By then I had a taste for it, having tried oxtails from a few other similar places. These ones I couldn't get into. In fact, the whole meal was kind of off. The meat was very slow cooked and tender, but it was almost all bone. Even if there was more meat involved, I thought the taste was pretty bland. The rice that came with it was a blast of more of the same. It was like being overwhelmed by a taste you could hardly taste. Personal feedback aside, this place is an easy five stars. Great place to stop in for some authentic food, at least the 2nd best Cuban Sandwich in Syracuse, and a ton of options at reasonable pricing. The owners are also very friendly, I think I talk to them every time I stop in. I'm overwhelmed by the other places I have yet to try, or I'd be back here a lot more.

    Oxtail stew

Wow. I will definitely be eating here again!! I ordered the oxtail stew and it was so good. The food was super fresh and basically melted in my mouth. I've never had oxtails before, but this was a great first experience. The rice and beans on the side were delicious as well. They know what they're doing!

One thing I can say is, this place makes good food. I enjoyed eating everything I ordered and do plan to return again. Two issues I have... one, I ordered an empanada and it was super cold in the middle. Like they cooked the beef, had it in the fridge and then made the empanada (I was given another one). Two, I ordered a stew beef lunch. Was I expecting a platter filled with food? No, but I did not expect 4 pieces of meat, a potato and rice for $7. If you're going to get any meal from here, just get the dinner. The lunch is a waste of money and it needs to be taken off the menu if they are going to be so cheap with the portions. Their chicken skin is overcooked and was kind of hard to eat. I also had to wait an hour for a pickup order which I don't understand...

A quick review from a recent uber eats order…read more I was in town for a business trip and decided to order a few uber eats orders since my hotel's food is not the best. Looking through recommendations I came across Mr. Bigg's restaurant. I am always open to try different cuisines and one for sure was Caribbean/ Jamaican when I am back home. It was definitely surprising how fast it was made and delivered but then I also noticed it was located pretty close to my hotel. I ordered the Oxtail with beans & rice, plantains, steamed cabbage and an additional side of corn bread. First bite was a delicious. The oxtails are tender fall of the bone. Great depth of flavor and texture was delicate. Plantains are nice in flavor and color, steam cabbage is steamed nicely not watery, rice was a great compliment and the corn bread was moist and sweet. Overall I appreciated the food from Mr. Bigg's restaurant. I did not have a chance to stop in around the city for restaurant due to my schedule but this was a great presentation of what the restaurant offers. Caribbean cuisine is something I do not often get but when I do, I never am disappointed. I would recommend this and especially if you like a meal that is full of flavor, spices and possibly put you to sleep haha

We ordered the Large Fricassee Chicken (with chicken leg and chicken tender) and the Small Curry Chicken. The woman who was working was very kind, answered all our questions, and gave us recommendations! The large entrees came with 2 sides which were the Mac n Cheese and the Cabbage and the meat is served over rice and beans. The small entrees came with 1 side which was the Cabbage (meat also served over rice and beans). I absolutely loved both meats I tried. The Fricassee Chicken had both juicy and some slightly tougher spots but was overall very flavorful. It came with bell peppers which brought a nice bright crunch to the heavier meal. The Curry Chicken was also very flavorful and saucy. For the sides: Personally, I'm not a mac and cheese fan but this was soo good. I highly recommend getting the large; great portion size and definitely can fill you up for 2 meals easily. I loved trying a bit of everything together - the chicken, the mac and cheese, the sauce, the rice and beans... soo good. I'd recommend you come and support a locally owned business!

The atmosphere was beautiful, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and I had the haddock and grits with a strawberry lemon drop. Everything was delicious, and one thing I noticed right away is that they are definitely generous with the liquor. The strawberry lemon drop was so good! I went back during the week of Juneteenth for their happy hour (I'm not sure if it's every week or just for special occasions), and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Rasta pasta and the mango wings. The Rasta pasta was absolutely top tier! I had also tried their jerk chicken tacos before, and those are easily one of my favorite things on the menu so I had to get them again. Honestly, writing this review has me getting hungry all over again. The mango wings had a beautiful presentation, but they weren't my favorite. I was expecting a stronger mango flavor, and I would've liked the wings to be just a little harder with a more flavor. That said, it definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back because everything else I've had has been amazing. While I was there, they had a spin wheel where you could win discounted shots, and I ended up trying a ginger shot along with another cocktail. Once again, the drinks did not disappoint. The DJ kept the energy up, the vibe was great, and the service has been consistently excellent every time I've visited. I still haven't made it to one of their late-night events yet, but it's definitely on my list. Overall, Erma's is a solid 10/10. Great food, great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and amazing service. If you're looking for a spot with good vibes and even better food, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

I tried the plantains, which were incredibly sweet and probably the best I've ever had. The oxtail was absolutely amazing! The spiked juice they served was quite strong, but it was perfectly balanced with a kick of sweetness. We had the privilege of speaking with the owner, who started the restaurant a couple of years ago. She came to the United States from Jamaica with her family to establish a restaurant and has been working hard to expand its reach and attract more customers. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.
