Date of review 1/5/23 Bixby residents, congratulations! You now have an option for mediocre Mexican food, slow service and lousy salsa; Las Cazuelas Restaurant. It appears to be a spin off, cousin, bother, sister or whatever to the Las Cazuelas found amongst the excessive accumulation poor Mexican restaurants in Muskogee. Like the plague of fire ants and armadillos that are migrating northward, so are the Mexican restaurants. A new one opens every day in Oklahoma. The details of my visit are not worth my time to write or your time to read. Las Cazuelas Restaurant in Bixby is unimpressive. Your better options for good Mexican food in Bixby are Tijuana's Grill & Cantina, The Real Taco and Uncle Paco's Mexican Grill. Try'em!

TLDR: Las cazuelas is a solid addition to the Mexican options in the area. The service was efficient and the food was good! We appreciate all forms of Mexican/Tex Mex and this is a welcome middle ground option for this area, rounding out the overly Tex Mex Uncle Pacos and the borderline taco truck Taco Real. The salsa was good, with just enough spice and not overly chunky or tasting of just tomato. Chips were crisp, thin, and fresh. The menu offered a good variety to be expected from this mode of Mexican food and we will definitely be back to try more of it soon! I chose the carnitas enchiladas, which were excellent. The cheese enchilada base was among the better cheese enchilada's I've had recently, and the addition of fajita peppers to the typical carnitas enchiladas elevated this dish to above average. Hubby had the pollo con queso, which he rated 5 stars as well. We will come back soon to update our review with more of the menu.

She explained the different menu boards to us, one is for seafood boils, one is for fried food and one was the lunch menu. We placed our orders, grabbed our drinks and sauces and took a seat at one of the large, loungey booths. The sauces are self serve with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, ketchup and malt vinegar. Our crab bites came out quick with a side of creamy (not spicy) remoulade sauce. We quickly dove in and were greeted with flavorful little nuggets of crabby goodness. Our shrimp and catfish platters came out next. The batter on both the shrimp and the catfish was incredible! It was cornmeal based, super crispy and well seasoned. You could see the flavor in the breading it was so good. The waffle fries were also exceptional. They weren't just there for backup, they were part of the delicious crispy flavor trio. The portion size was generous. I ate about half and took the other half with while my parents split a platter. The inside of the restaurant is very spacious and clean with a bright, modern feel to the space. It would be good for small or large groups. Again, I just wish I had tried this place sooner! I will be back ASAP to try some of the other menu items. The seafood boils look interesting, served with different flavored butters. I fully recommend this place for locals or if you're just stopping through the area and craving delicious seafood.

Since it was my first time being able to get a daiquiri I took the chance and got a mango daiquiri. It had me spinning after a few sips but it was a perfect match with the food. The server was so polite and offered great alternatives if you wandered about mixing and matching menu items. My food ended up taking a while so they gave me an extra piece of fish and let's just say that I was certainly pleased with that gesture. I didn't eat it all In one setting, so I was able to take some home and actually have lunch the next day. The place was such a relaxed space and easy spot to consume your food. It wasn't too cold in there and it wasn't too noisy. I will surely return.

Upon entering, there was already a waiting line to be seated and we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait. The restaurant was quite full, although we did see a few tables that were being cleared. It took us less than 10 minutes to be seated at a booth in the bar area. We had an excellent server who greeted us warmly, gave us a minute, at our request, before taking our drink order. We both ordered a Mexican martini which in my mind was essentially a margarita in a martini glass. This had an olive in the bottom and the drink had silver tequila, Cointreau, orange and fresh lime juice, handshaken or however you want it. The rim was salted. Quite yummy. For a starter, we decided to get onion rings. We were absolutely amazed at how large the portion of onion rings was. If you're an onion ring fan, I think you'll love these. They had a very light coating on them and they were cut fairly thin. Served with two different dipping sauces. They were scrumptious. I also have to say that the prices for literally everything on the menu were so reasonable. It's no secret that restaurant prices have been rising steadily the last couple years. I felt the prices here were several years behind the times. I'm not complaining about that. You get a lot of value when you go to Fish Daddy's. The portions are generous, and the prices are lower than you would think. We decided to split a FD's Combo. You choose three items from a list of seven and you also get to choose two sides. We ordered the cornmeal catfish, the chicken tenders and the fresh North Atlantic salmon. For the sides we choose green beans and a baked potato with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese. By accident, the Kitchen sent out fried shrimp instead of the chicken tenders, but when I brought that to the attention of our server, he simply brought out chicken tenders and we sort of got the shrimp as a freebie. We had no complaints and were again amazed at the value and how good everything was. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, it was not loud at all. We had absolutely no problem conversing during our meal. Will definitely be a more frequent visitor now that we have reacquainted ourselves with Fish Daddy's Grill House.

The service was a little bit slow today, but they were quite busy. The waiter was very friendly and stayed on top of refilling my water which I appreciated because I drink a lot of water. The food was good quality as always. I enjoyed the different fries. I am sad that they no longer have fried pickles, but the guy said it's been like that for a little while so it tells me how long it's been since I've been here. I will always appreciate the prices and the good quality food that I get here.

The lamb was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. I usually skip sides, but I tried the collard greens. They had bacon in them as God intended. Our server was kind and personable and made some lovely wine pairing suggestions. Overall, it was a wonderful dinner and a perfect way to indulge on a Sunday evening.

The bar is the first thing you see when you walk in, and it's right next to the dining area, so you can't have casual or dressy at one without the other. The birthday part was fun because they served ice cream with a sparkler lit in it, which is way more fun than a regular free dessert or someone singing to our table. Nice touch! Truffle fries appetizer is the best. I order this wherever possible around Tulsa, and this was one of the better ones! Filet mignon was done well. If you like garlic, add the double garlic toum, which is basically puréed garlic to add on the steak. Mac and cheese was just ok. Whipped potato gratin was different and tasty. I wish they had crispy brussel sprouts for a side like other steakhouses. Iceberg wedge salad was good, but they only had one cheese substitute if you don't like blue cheese. I asked for ranch instead and it was good. We tried to change our reservation on a Wednesday night to push it back by 30 minutes due to work urgencies, and they showed no availability online, yet we didn't see more than two other parties there the entire time. They need to work out their online system better as this isn't an issue with other restaurants. Definitely worth a try, and I would go back.
