Living in St. Louis, I'm a frequent guest at Panera, or as my local friends say, "It's St. Louis…read moreBread Company!" We stopped here on the way back from a road trip because I was craving a shake. This restaurant was located along a popular strip right off of Highway 55 and the choices for fast food restaurants are numerous. I didn't want a mundane chocolate shake, but rather, something sweet. I knew Panera had smoothies, but had never had one. I ordered a Mango Smoothie, after some debate and let the young manager who served me make the choice for me between that and the strawberry. I hadn't realized that they use Greek yogurt, and though I love the tang of it, it was overwhelmingly tart. I knew in a sip or two that it wasn't what I was looking for. A young lady explained that they use two ice cream sized scoops of yogurt for their concoction, along with fruit purée and ice. Although the yogurt makes it super thick, it just wasn't the flavor I was expecting or craving. I opted for the Strawberry Banana, figuring the banana would help make it sweeter. The aforementioned young lady suggested they use one scoop of yogurt instead of two. It was perfect! Exactly what I wanted. As I was walking out the door, the manager who originally helped me and asked how I liked the mango. I explained my dislike of the tang and he said that since they have switched to the Greek yogurt, he has gotten similar feedback. Though I don't plan to be in this area again anytime soon, when I do visit a Panera, now I know how to ask for just the taste I'm seeking. The place was super clean; they were getting ready to close. During our short visit, everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful.

Nothing adjusts my attitude better than good coffee and a pastry. A latte and cinnamon-crunch bagel served quickly and politely works just fine. Thanks P-CG.

My wife needed gluten free and they offered her a chicken dish. They told her that their sour dough would be gluten free. Nervously, she ate it and went nuts. She never noticed any discomfort due to the bread. To find an outstanding sour dough that would work for celiac is rare indeed! We bought a loaf to go. We also ordered a drink with ginger and turmeric. I loved it. My wife ordered some sort of reddish tea and she loved it. The staff were outstanding as well! They really try hard to please. Then, there is the market, which was very cool. It was like a throwback to another age. The store is connected to a consignment shop. You positivity give them a try. There is a wonderful feeling inside the restaurant as well. Enjoy!!

The building is a good size with a separate section for dining and shopping. We placed our order with a friendly employee. We were instructed to take a seat and our food would be out shortly. I ordered the Country Skillet. It included hash, bacon, eggs, sausage gravy, and a slice of sourdough bread. The meal was hearty and filling. Only real complaint was that it was a little light on the salt. If I lived in this area, I would be a regular.

Immediately upon entry we were greeted with the hostess who put us on the list. Within twenty minutes, which left time to check out an abundance of treasures they have, we were seated next to the ambient fire burning. Our table was clean and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. We chose Sunday to stop so naturally you would expect a huge church crowd but that was not the case. My husband ordered the chicken fried chicken and I ordered the southern fried chicken. Our sides were Mac n cheese, green beans and turnip greens. Our food arrived right after our biscuits so perfect timing! My chicken was cooked to perfection! I received a large plate of a variation of chicken, including a leg wing and breast. The crunchiness and texture were on point. Mac & cheese was hot and cheesy. Green beans spiced to perfection. My husband's turnip greens were to his liking as well. We even managed to walk away with a mixing bowl ornament for my baking themed tree and a Charlie Brown Christmas record! We will be back if we are ever passing through to St. Louis.

Yes, we had a larger group but I don't think they should have caused so many mistakes. Many of our meals came out on multiple plates and not together. Some of us got our main dish with the first run of our food while others got their side dishes. One of our group got the wrong meal all together while another persons meal never came, when the waiter delivered the "rest of the food" and asked if we needed anything else, it was like um yes, another meal is still missing..... Some of us liked the main dishes for the most part but agreed the eggs, bacon and sausage patties were cold and tasted terrible.
