Really nice restaurant with a clean interior and a good amount of indoor seating. I arrived about 15 minutes after opening and was one of the first orders, though more people trickled in shortly. I ordered at the counter and decided to eat in. Staff seemed friendly. I got the shrimp spring rolls and the beef pho. The spring rolls were served with a peanut sauce and were fairly simple--mainly just lettuce, vermicelli noodles, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper. I'm used to variations that usually include more greens/vegetables like carrots, thai basil, cucumber, etc. Still, they were a nice, fresh appetizer. The beef pho was pretty interesting. The broth had a decent beefy flavor but lacked the aromatics that I'm used to tasting in pho. The best way I can describe it is that it tasted very plain and uncomplicated. I'd probably chalk this up to the fact that I've lived in northern NJ / NYC for most of my life which has a large Asian population and many Pho restaurants. The beef slices were also thicker and a bit tougher than what I'm used to. No options for tripe, tendon, or meatballs either. Normally, I would have given 3 stars, but I appreciate this restaurant and its food for what it is in context. I'm just glad that I can get a decent bowl of pho when I'm craving it. read more

I rarely leave such negative reviews, but my experience here was a mess. Let me start by saying the food we eventually received was delicious. I got a veggie broth with vegetables and tofu. However, service and wait times were a MESS. We had an hour for lunch, and when we got to the counter, the guy took my order, and said tofu would be extra. I said fine. My colleagues ordered after I did, and about 2 people later, he told my colleague that the orders would take 45 minutes. We were like, wait what? He hadn't mentioned that to me. At that point they had already charged me, so we decide to risk it and wait. One hour later they handed me my food without so much as a "sorry for the wait." I had been charged $3 for literally 3 pieces of tofu, and I had no time to eat. The place looks like a takeout/fast food place, so it was very deceiving for one bowl of pho to take an hour. Spring rolls were delicious. Liked the rice bowl better than the noodles but think that was also partly because the pork was amazing. Took about 20 minutes for the food to be prepared. I love pho, and have the pleasure of having many Vietnamese restaurants to choose from back home. I have been living in Southern Illinois for a year, and really wanted pho. This place was the closest so I opted to order from here. Service was great. I was able to order online and my food was ready right on time. They handled the transaction in a very sanitary manner as well. For that, 5/5. However, I was extremely disappointed in the food. The broth of the pho was very bland and lacked that vibrant flavor that should come with it. The fried spring rolls tasted quite bland as well. Overall I was kinda disappointed in my food. read more

The first thing we noticed is that the prices shown on their menu are different from what is rung up. We were told they didn't have time to change the prices listed.... This is our third time here, but it has been several years. We ordered the Pho's. Mine was vegetarian and the other gluten free. Both were good. I wondered if they add MSG to items not GF as it was a bit salty, but still good. We were disappointed as they were out of basil and bean sprouts. They did throw in shredded cabbage, which was nice, but not the flavor we were looking for. The staff were great and apologetic about the missing items. With all the issues of shipping and products, we took it in stride. I would give them 3.5 stars, but as the staff was really nice, I boosted it to 4. So there ya go. FRESH and DELICIOUS! We got the Banh Mi with fried tofu and one with pork. Both were excellent. The tofu was crunchy and is a good size portion. The pork is very well marinated. The banh mi (bread) was one of the best I have had. We also got an order of spring rolls (veggie) and fried dumplings (chicken) and they were delicious as well. Overall average tasting pho lacking fresh ingredients. The bahn mi on the other hand tasted awesome. Perfect mix of flavors, mayo and beef in a crispy baguette. Had the green curry catfish special recently and it was so seriously delicious! Really hit the spot, and there was enough to even share it between myself and my 10-year-old daughter for lunch. Loved it!!! I can't remember the cooks name but she did a great job!!! The catfish was far superior to other places I've gone around the area. It's ideal for people hat have never had pho as it makes selections easier. The owner came out during dinner and spoke with us a little and explained her philosophy behind the choices they made when executing the restaurant ideas. Very pleasantly surprised by this small restaurant tucked into a strip mall in front of St Francis Hospital! Tasty freshly prepared Thai food dishes. Reasonably priced and the workers are very nice! Honestly, Pho 8 isn't authentic. It's not bad for Americanized Vietnamese food. I like the Banh Mi and Com (rice bowls). I'd order them again. I wouldn't recommend the Pho (noodle soup) to hardcore Pho connoisseurs though. The restaurant is clean and the people are nice. You have to order and pay at the counter first. Then you get a number and you pick a place to sit. It has a very casual atmosphere and there are fun canned/bottled asian drinks to try like soy milk, coconut juice, and teas. read more

This was my first visit at Pho 8. Atmosphere was calm and inviting. Very cute restaurant. I'm sure they have other food there that is great, but I went for the pho. Hence the restaurant title. Pho presentation was picture worthy. It was a nice sized helping. Probably like a medium sized bowl. I got the beef pho. Beef wasn't flavored to my liking. Noodles were also a little tougher than usual. I don't believe the temperature of the pho was hot enough. Usually, I receive a plate full of sprouts, jalapeños, lime, and cilantro/basil. Absolutely love Pho 8! Super friendly staff, fun environment, clean, and DELICIOUS food! We always go for the sweet jalapeño bowl (I like chicken, my fiancé gets extra beef!) Today, I switched things up for a noodle bowl and was not disappointed! My fiancé got his usual, however, they forgot extra beef. We didn't even notice but the waitress came over and apologized for the mistake and gave us free rolled icecream (Vietnamese coffee flavor--YUM!!!)
