Lengua can be a hit or a miss sometimes, as it's easy to make it tough to chew, but this was extremely tender and I could've ordered an entire plate of just this. + Quesabirra taco: Really flavorful. The birria was great and pairs well with consume. + Asada taco: I would skip this one because the meat was on the tougher end for me. But the other two tacos win me over. She updated us that they were actually out of the ingredients for the salsa so those wouldn't be coming. I'm glad I checked the stall in the bathroom as one was out of toilet paper. And the carnitas were dry. However the Al Pastor tasted great. Which leads me to the torta. It started off great and I was enjoying it until I had to pull a hair out of my mouth. We had a hard time finding it at first, but it's located in the parking lot of South Union Mini Mart. There's a lot of different taco trucks on Union, so make sure you don't pass this one up. Parking isn't really an issue, so don't worry about that. Staff is really nice. The first time we visited the young lady that took our order was very friendly and interactive. She had a nice warm personality so you feel welcomed when you visit. The owner, I didn't catch his name but he's literally cooking the food in the back. He's super friendly and also made us feel welcomed. Even though they are wayyyy out there on Union, they are the reason why people want to come back. Yes, food can be good at places, but if you have a good heart and personality then people can tell you're genuine. The first time we visited we were overwhelmed because we wanted to try EVERYTHING, I don't know what's my favorite item yet, but I'll let you guys know when I find out. Don't sleep on Taqueria El Jalisciense! I'm not a big fan of chicken tacos and I even loved those and I would get it again. Sometimes it tastes old or like it has been sitting around too long. I'll give credit where it's due: sometimes the food comes out good, which is why I've continued coming back. But the inconsistency is frustrating. When I'm spending around $30 for two plates, the least I expect is for the food to be fresh, hot, and cooked correctly. Side note: I was raised to appreciate the food in front of me and not throw it away just because I don't like it, especially knowing there are people out there who don't have enough to eat. So yes, I ate the food--but that doesn't mean it was good or prepared correctly. I really hope they work on their consistency. I don't mind paying for good food; I just want to know I'm getting the quality I paid for.
