    Asada fries

I really hate to leave a small business like this a bad review but issues really should be addressed to thrive! First thought coming in was a little surprised because it was a little bit after 12 noon and nobody was there at all! Probably should've been a sign but the reviews are good so I stayed. Menu was fine plenty of options and the prices are ok. I ordered the asada fries and an ice tea. The server was talking on the phone the entire time which also isn't a great feeling as I never was offered a refill on my tea which is a pet peeve of mine, she never even gave me the bill I had to find her and ask after I was finished with my lunch.. for a while!! BTW the fries were good! Another bummer was my fries are 11.99 and my tea 3.00 but my bill was $17.85 before the .71 convince fee which is around a $2 over charge no including the convenience fee. Tax should have been around $1. Just too many issues to consider going back!

Delicious! I always judge a Mexican food restaurant by the beans. So far my favorite in town! The birria tacos are yummy also.

This place is by far the worst restaurant I have been to in my lifetime. Although almost all the restaurants in Taft are disgusting. This place takes the cake. I am including a photo of the this thing they called a plain carne asada taco. If you look at the meat it does not look like anything anyone would want to sink their teeth into. My mom took that meat home for her cats and even they looked at her and gave her the WTF look and did not eat this caca. They served my brother a plate of fish with no flavor. They gave me a campechana which normally comes in a nice red color but they gave me something that looked like it was made with Flint Michigan tap water. The bill was $105 and all of it was absolutely disgusting. Do yourself a favor and do not eat out anywhere in Taft and just drive to Bakersfield or the Casino if you are eating out. To the owners and workers here how dare you serve this crap?

Cute and casual restaurant displaying many lovely beach murals and specializing in seafood. DJ was our fantastic server today. He was Friendly & attentive. We ordered 2 buckets with crab & shrimp. Our order came out steamy & tasty very quickly. The buckets include a choice of crab, shrimp, mussels & clams. It includes corn, potatoes, sausage & your seafood choices. They have many seafood options besides the buckets. DJ was so accommodating throughout our meal. We dined early around 5pm, but if you go during peak hours, lunch or dinner you may have a wait. They do not take reservations. They are moderately priced and portions are good. For a fun beach y experience definitely drop in for a meal.

It's pretty small inside so it won't be great for large groups but the employees are friendly. The guy that gave me my order informed me that this place is originally from Louisiana and this store is the only one in California! I ordered the 4 piece fish combo and chose the fried okra and red beans and rice for my sides. I also added the fried green tomatoes to my order. I'm not a fan of catfish but this was good. The seasoning on their food is SEASONING, okay?!!!! The fried green tomatoes are delicious without any sauce but when you dip it in their homemade tartar sauce and hot sauce it's amazing! I'm not sure what kind of roll it is that comes with their meals but Hot Damn it's bomb! It's like a soft pillow, almost like a beignet but not as airy. I didn't eat my food for about 40 minutes or so and the roll was still so soft! I will definitely hit this place up again and give the fried chicken and fried shrimp a try! If you've been looking for a place with fried fish, look no more! It's called Chick O Fish and it's in Bakersfield via Louisiana!

I got a side of fries, cole slaw, and a freshly baked bun. The owner told me this was a franchise. They were from Louisiana and were looking for opportunities in Bakersfield. As with any new business, it is going to take a few days to get the place up and running. You can eat inside. The tables and chairs looked comfy, but I opted to take out. The walls are a little sparse, but I'm certain they will dress the place up nicely. The owner was very nice and you could tell he had a passion for this business. I look forward to seeing them very successful.

Came at around 2 pm on a weekday so was luckily able to find a parking spot and there was no line to order. If it's busy, good luck. Food was delicious and priced well. Shrimp basket - 10/10 Shrimp were fried perfectly to be honest. Got 6 shrimp over french fries (the fries were also great, thicker pieces that were fried perfectly). Tartar sauce was great, the cocktail sauce as well (and I don't normally like cocktail sauce). Filled me up great. Small clam chowder - 7/10 Pretty solid clam chowder. I probably wouldn't get it again, but the first few spoonfuls were great and very enjoyable. Some of the clam towards the bottom was more chewy which wasn't ideal. Got a bread roll as well and it came with oyster crackers. Spent roughly $30 total, around $20 on the shrimp basket and another $6-7 on the clam chowder. Would 100% come here again, highly recommend if you're in the area looking for some tasty seafood.

We've tried the grilled salmon in the past- and it's nicely cooked and tasty - but the star of the show is their fried offerings. What could be better than a crisply fried piece of cod with delicious fries overlooking the ocean? They do a better job frying fish than much more expensive places (looking at you Santa Monica seafood restaurant). The coleslaw is always fresh, and we also love the creamy chowder, chock full of clam bits. My one note is that they do not season their food so you need to add salt and pepper to everything. The coleslaw benefits from salt and a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of the malt vinegar on the table (also good with the fries of course). I'm not sure why they don't season their fish or batter - but maybe they figure it's best to keep it unsalted and people can add seasoning? There is also hot sauce on the table which adds the perfect zing to the chowder. The people who run the place are friendly and the place is especially popular on weekends. I'd recommend coming midweek either before or after peak lunch hours. Highly recommend.
