This was my hubby's favorite spot in town to get an egg salad sandwich. He said this location (and only this location!) made it fresh every day and did it right! When teen and I were nearby we decided to pay homage to Dad and go in and have lunch. Of course I got the egg salad sandwich and teen ordered an Animal Sub. I remember Mark always asked them to toast the bread twice, so I did the same. The sandwich comes out on warm toasty bread, and is overflowing with egg salad. Truly - get a fork! You'll need one. Add a dollop of salt & pepper and that's all you need for a yummy sandwich. I can only eat half of their 6", so it's nice to have another half to eat later or the next day for lunch. Teen's sub was hot and she said it was fantastic. Staff is pleasant and quick to respond if you have a need. read more

Awesome experience at Larry's Giant Subs. I was on the highway driving home and needed a bite to eat, but am so over fried fast food. Larry's was the perfect decision. This is a larger restaurant with a good bit of indoor seating. The menu is large; loaded with hot and cold subs, hot dogs, soups and more. I got the Italian and really enjoyed it. The sub was hearty-- loaded with meat and veggies. The staff was great. The service was quick! There was a bit of a line and I was in and out without 10 minutes! read more

Larry's Giant Subs - Sandwiches Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

I never knew this was right there. Customer service was good they made my sandwich so fast I got the Muffaletta. I liked the bread, but I was disappointed with the taste of the sandwich itself. I could have made that, it was nothing special. My favorite sandwich is a pastrami, if they have the right kind of pastrami or a cold cut combo. I would go back to try one of those choices. read more

Grab n go. Never had a Larry's and just wanted something quick and easy to eat while driving. Ordered the animal. Sounded like it had all the good stuff on it. It was just ok. Bread was fresh but the sandwich needed more sauce. Forgot to take a photo of it but it was your standard sub. Service was pretty quick and everyone was nice. Seemed like a cool place for lunch. Neat NY pictures. Chill atmosphere read more

I was starving after traveling all day and decided to stop in for lunch. It smelled good when I walked in so I had high expectations. I ordered the chicken Philly sandwich. The cashier did not ask any follow up questions so I assumed (which is my fault) that there would be toppings on the sandwich. I got my order in about 6 minutes and took my sandwich Togo. When I made it to my grandma's house in less than 10 mins I opened my sandwich to see that there was literally nothing but chicken, cheese and onions. No sauce, no other veggies nothing. The sandwich was dry and the chicken didn't have any flavor. I will not be back. read more

very disappointed, went to the one on Len turner, used to be good , but sandwiches have gotten smaller meat portions have gotten smaller. food and service was terrible. will not visit any stores again read more

Very fresh, well worth the stop en route to vacation. I thought it was better than Jersey Mike's.

We've eaten there religiously since we've been in this area for years. The one time we find out something was wrong. We call back. They say no worries we will replace it. I call to get the sandwich fixed and they won't do it. Don't waste your money on these scam artists. read more

All depending on the establishment, where good 'heros' are made. This one one does good sandwiches.

The sandwich was great until I bit into a piece of metal in my tuna salad sandwich. I called the store to let the manager know he offered me a replacement, but after biting into metal once I'm good. He was nice just didn't sound like he believed me. Hoping no one else gets metal in their sandwich because it's not a small piece of metal. Also the end looks old or rusting. Included photos. read more

Larry's subs are really good and fresh. The bread is always fresh. The meats are seasoned well not too salty. I would recommend this place especially comparing with the sub sandwiches I get from New York. read more

I have ordered probably 100 subs from this location and it has always been the meat Larry's location in all of Jacksonville, they do a great job building the subs and have always been super friendly read more

Great subs, soups and other delicious food! Helpful staff. Good location. Would eat here 5 days a week if I could!

I've been to the sandwich shop 20x or more in the last 3 months while I am remodeling a house. I ordered a sandwich and asked for a water cup. I drink water most of the time. The lady said we are out of water cups. I looked up and there was a stack of regular cups so I asked about getting one of those and assured her I was only going to put water in it. She said she would have to charge me. I said never mind and ate my sandwich and left. Keep in mind there is a Walmart store right across the street that they could buy cups at. Your lack of common sense to keep a customer is beyond my comprehension. I won't be back. I can find sub sandwiches anywhere read more

Asked if I could get my Italian cold if they didn't already toast it. Realized it was toasted then said no worries that's fine then the girl making my sandwich rolls her eyes at me then made my sandwich super dry cause she got mad read more

The food is ok.. the customer service is not good. They act like they can't speak or don't want to speak when you walk in. Just a shame. Lem Turner location by Home Depot is the one I'm speaking of!!! read more

I was leaving Home Depot and noticed this place . I was feeling hungry and since I'm working out of town here, Im getting pretty burned out on the fast food crap . So figure what the heck let's gamble and boy did I hit a winner here . I wasn't real sure what to get so I kept it simple with the turkey sub . The girl at the register was very helpful with ordering. Sand which came out fast and was made well . The bread they use is very tasty . It's not a super fancy place , but it's clean and simple . Sweet tea is good here fo show ! I will be back and I recommend this place if you want a good sandwich at a reasonable price . read more

Always quality subs! I never have complaints about this place! Even the staff is pleasant!

This is twice in a row that my order was messed up. Last time I ordered the Cuban and for the wrong order and had to bring it all the way back and wait for it to be remade. This time I ordered the Cuban to go and got to work and it was wet and soggy. It was steamed. Cubans are pressed and toasted even at all other Larry's Giant Subs. I decided to call the manager and let him know last two order incidents. He said it was my fault for not telling them to toast it. I said all other LGS sis it automatically bc Cubans are made that way. He said yes but not at that store. He also never addressed previous issue. I won't be going back to that one. I like Larry's and I wasn't looking for anything, only to let them know they have an issue, but apparently it's my issue. read more

While traveling, I was looking for something other than Subway and Firehouse and came across Larry's. It was ok. I wasn't super impressed but I don't feel I waisted my money either. The service was quick and I appreciated that they honor first responders by giving us 10% off with our badge/ID. I got an 8 inch turkey sub and it appears that (unless otherwise stated), they come with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard and italian dressing. The italian dressing was different for a sub but it added a great flavor. I thought the sub was a bit dry but the turkey seemed freshly cut and it was a bit on the thick side. The lettuce was shaved and the subs came with a pickle. I was full and I thought the prices were fair. They offer both hot and cold subs and there are a lot of Italian sub options that I would say you can't find at just any sub shop. I don't eat pork but my partner had "The Big One" and really enjoyed it. All in all, I liked it better than Subway, Firehouse and Publix but I have had better subs. However, I would return. read more

Absolutely delicious! I would eat here everyday if I could. Even with a line, the service was very fast.

There is no doubt that during the weekly lunch hour, this location is the safest place to be on the Northside of town! If it's not 1/2 to 3/4 full of military customers, it's the sheriff's office! The staff is always friendly and courteous, fast service and right every time. Great sandwiches and easily customized. This is probably the best location within the chain of stores. read more

This seems to be the only place in town that still makes their egg salad. Even other Larry's location buy it in tubs pre-made. Its always a treat when i get to this side of town. read more

Larry's Giant Subs - a gorilla head and a banana - Sandwiches Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

Have you ever dined someplace, had a great experience, on the basis of that experience, gone back? I have done that and sometimes it was still as good, just not always! Larry's NEVER Disappoints! I have dined here for years, since it opened in fact, and if anything it only seems better with each visit!!! I often order the Animal all the way and with jalapeños. Simply put, it is to die for! read more

I hadn't been to a location in a long time, but I'm glad I stopped by for dinner at this location. It was clean, quiet, and friendly. My food came out quickly and had been made with care and precision. They have daily specials that come with a drink and chips, usually around $8.99. The girl working the register also brought my food and reminded me to not forget my chips after I forgot to pick them up after ordering. This is a local sub shop that continues to make fresh, tasty food! read more

While it had not been my first visit to Larry's, it was my first to this unit in NW Jacksonville. It was a good visit as there were little surprises such as the sandwich coming out hot and the price for two being under $20. In a contrast from other hero/sub shops in the city, this presented itself as an easy sit down place for lunch. I am looking forward to returning in the future as my friend goes to FSCJ down the road. read more

I have been here twice . First time the clam chowder soup was soooooo good and I wasn't told I got a drink with my combo even though I paid for it but it didn't stop me from going back. I'm sure I'll be back because that soup is soooooooo good ! read more

Went with the wife a week ago, paid over $18.00 for our lunch meal of the Philly steak and cheese. Highly disappointed, the meat was dry and very little cheese, could have gotten a better microwave Philly across the street at the 7 eleven or Walmart! read more

This was my first visit to Larry's and I went with their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich - the bread was awesome - nicely grilled with a good texture and flavor - the steak was well seasoned as well with onions and melted provolone. It was good but not great... taking a little more time to view the menu, they had some more interesting options and I probably could have come out with something more impressive, but decided to go safe on my first time and see how they did with it. I'll definitely go back and see what some of the other sandwiches do for me - the Bomber, Animal, Destroyer and Inferno Steak sound pretty intriguing. read more

The young girl at the counter who took my order did not seem to want to take my order. There was no smile or greeting from her. She just rattled through the list of ingredients to go on the sub. Usually I have great customer service. The sub that I ordered was terrific. Another young girl who game me the wrapped sub was very cordial and nice. So we moved from Chicago area and I thought I'd never be able to find a decent sub or dog... so excited we tried out Larry's. They have Italian Beefs with peppers!! The chili is not good unless you want it on a hot dog... do not eat it thinking its a good side, its not! Im such a fan of Larrys and this is the second location we have tried! In Illinois everyone is talking about getting a Firehouse sub and I saw they are from here but have not even craved them because of Larrys. Seriously so so good. read more

I purchased a sub with all the trimmings, I got all the way home opened up my sandwich and noticed I had just a plain sub.I called Larry's about my situation and talked to the manager,he only wanted to give me 50 percent off my next visit, every other establishment I've had an issue like this has always compensated me with my next order being taken care of for free. This is how you keep your customer's coming back. After warning him that I was no longer coming to his establishment if he kept the same offer of 50 percent on the table,he stood firm with his same offer,as much as I hate Subway I'll rather eat there before I step foot in his restaurant again read more

Ive loved Larry's since I was a kid. Being military, I move around a lot and haven't had a Larry's near my home in more than 10 years, so everytime I travel and see one I stop. I have never had a bad experience at any of the ones I've been to. read more

i am so beyond furious.I paid 10 bucks for a meal on my lunch break. My ex coworkers & I used to affectionately call them Larry's lousy subs. It was affectionate & widely inaccurate. I'm not sure if I've been to this location before but the sausage & peppers sub I had was quite tasty. Actually I remember the last sub I had from Larry's was quite good also. I previously thought their prices were a bit higher than comparable chains but found that's not the case today. All things considered they're a good bargain. Plus they do have better quality ingredients in my view. This site is in an up & coming area on the Northside near Target & Walmart. The cashier could have been a bit friendlier & inviting but that's the only mark against them on this visit. Long live the king of subs Larry's giant subs! (Song as in the commercial) :) read more
