Turns out it was the water pump, and it was throwing a code for the fan clutch, so he suggested I replace that as well - since it had to come off to get the new water pump in anyway. The new fan clutch was unbalanced and failed after driving for a day, ripping its own harness off, causing a short that prevented the vehicle from starting once I arrived home. I called and talked to Elite Performance, and they had my vehicle towed back in to repair it. They switched to another brand of fan clutch and replaced it at no charge. Stand-up guys! I will be taking it back to get the engine tuned soon.

After the brakes were replaced, they kept squeaking, so I brought my car back like they told me to. The owner claimed he "didn't hear anything," so nothing was fixed. On top of that, my dashboard is now showing a lamp malfunction sensor, something that has never appeared before this visit. I trusted them with my car, and it came back with more issues than it went in with. Extremely unprofessional, dishonest, and careless. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

So, I went home and started researching places that would do a quality job for less than the dealership. That's when I remembered this family business. My boyfriend took his car here a year ago when he ran into some mechanical trouble, and they got him on the road again. So, I stopped by and asked if they could quote a price for the work. They took a solid look at my brakes and told me that the current ones still have some life left, and could wait until the next oil change at least. This was great news (my budget couldn't support this cost so I was going to have to put it on a weary and beleaguered credit card) but the best part of this was that this honesty instantly made me a loyal customer. I will go back to them for future oil changes, brake jobs and since my car is starting to age, everything else that's going to be needed. These folks are likable and kind, and their competence already proven. I will update this review after my car's next check-up. Update: I love these guys! Yesterday I was having a pretty terrible day, which included a dead battery. Since the battery was only two years old, I had a lot of reason to worry that the problem was the alternator. Moreover, his pricing was more-than/fair and his follow-up was on-point. If you own a shop and provide these types of services, you need to follow the practices and principles of A-2-Z Cars and Trucks. These guys are clearly and easily THE BEST! I found A-2-Z based on their stellar reviews, and I'm certainly glad that I did. Tim at A-2-Z examined the car in full and noted to me that while the oil leak was a concern, what was far more problematic was that the rear suspension of my car was hanging on by a thread. Long story short, he was able to secure the new part to replace the rusted one I needed at a great price from a junkyard, and he took care of the oil leak (while replacing old spark plugs) at a reasonable price for the parts and labor involved. When I came to pick up the car, he and Mike showed me the trashed part that was replaced on my car. The back end of my car was so rusted that it could have snapped. Now, my car has new life and will keep going safely for another year or two until I'm ready for a new vehicle. If you're in the Royse City area, you can safely trust your vehicle to the staff at A-2-Z. These guys are great!
