Lapis is an oasis of calm. I visited on Thursday, December 16. I reached out the morning prior about availability for the "Day of Joy" package, which includes a Masters Massage, a Triple Cleanse Facial, as well as spa, pool, gym, and beach day access for approximately $375 (tax and gratuities included). Erica from Spa Concierge was a delight to schedule with. She kept an eye on availability as it changed throughout the day to offer me the best treatment times in sequence. Flora gave an exceptional hot stone massage using a combination of firm and deep tissue techniques. There was a little bit of a mix-up in terms of getting back upstairs for my facial. I was two minutes late to the "pick-up" area and waited about 15 minutes before checking in with Billy, who took me up straight away. The technician was waiting for me at the top of the stairs. It could just have been me feeling anxious about the delay, but to me the facial felt hurried -- though the mask in particular feels incredible. I chose to have lunch by the pool. There was available seating at the bar at La Cote and food and cocktails were very good and came out quickly. (I recommend the Ginger Mint.) I spent the afternoon enjoying the hydrotherapy and relaxing before heading to the airport for my flight. A few things worth noting: -- There is one co-ed pool. The other spaces are gender specific. -- There is a steam room but no dry sauna. Two minor issues: -- Staff assign the lockers on a first-come, first-served basis. I understand that it makes sense to give the next person the next available locker by number, but it was uncomfortable and unnecessarily crowded (especially given COVID-19) that everyone was clustered in the same small changing area when there were hundreds of available lockers and several empty changing areas. -- Staff did not appear to be enforcing the no cellphone policy. This made me feel uncomfortable when another guest appeared to be taking photos. read more

I was worried to go here with all the COVID scare but was so happy I went. The spa was beyond clean and everyone was so helpful. My massage was beyond amazing and just what I needed. This was actually the worst spa experience I've ever had. I was tearing up when I left. I expected to leave here feeling refreshed and I was very stressed and couldn't believe I wanted to cry. Massage therapist more so just rubbed oil on me and didn't do deep tissue. When I asked her to please work on my tight shoulders, she said that "that didn't happen overnight, you can't expect me to do anything about it today." For the first time ever I wanted to get up from the massage table. I stayed, hoping it would improve but it never did. I had to go home afterward and take a soothing bath to relax. read more

I enjoyed my spa day at Lapis. I came on a Monday afternoon. I was able to check in quickly and walked inside to someone who shows me the locker area. I was given a locker which did not not correctly. Well, I had to go back to the front and ask if I could use any other. It was a little bothersome but okay. The person who showed me to the locker room did not do a walk through with me to show me the different areas/pool areas. I walked through on my own and discovered a very cool rain shower, jacuzzi, and co-Ed pool. The Swedish massage I received was good but I wish she would have gotten a few more knots out. They also gave me a pool pass for the day. There is construction going on and so I saw many "please excuse" signs on my way to the pool because of the dirt. (August 2015) I grabbed a few drinks and some food while at the pool. I had a Mojito and some Sangria with Strawberries which were delicious! I definitely recommend both of those drinks. I came here last Saturday and I had a nice time. I scheduled my massage at 12 and my sisters and moms as well. We were running behind so I called ahead to tell them we'd be 10 minutes late (which we were) and they said it was okay that you have 10 mins after your set time and once you go over that time, then they start cutting into the massage time. I paid for a 50 minute massage and I was worked on for 40 minutes. That kind of bothered me to be honest, when I spent close to $700 that day. I bought us all day at the Fontainebleau package which includes a 50 minute massage and lunch. So we were welcomed nicely and they provided us with our lunch vouchers to be turned in to la Cote the restaurant by the pool. So cool, we walk in and are greeted by another woman that asks us what our shoes size was to get us shoes. Except, there were no shoes. So okay, we get settled in and finally get into our robes and go to our massage. My massage was Swedish and I did enjoy it. I didn't however like the music they were playing, it was pretty awful. So we all meet up and have some infused water after or massages to relax. There is literally barely any space for us to sit and relax. Packed with people, everywhere. They recommend that you disconnect and stay off your phone, literally, everyone is on their phones. It's the saddest thing. So we quickly start exploring since at this point we were still waiting on a proper tour of the spa. We go off and check out the jacuzzi and relaxing chairs they have there. Every, single, chair is taken and the very few chains unoccupied are full of used towels and cups everywhere. Where are the workers responsible for picking up that area? Very messy. So we go under the waterfall showers that was nice. The sauna also nice, but a bit too hot for my taste. We move on to the coed pool which was very nice. It's supposed to be infused with a bunch of minerals. Again, no chairs, I had to wait for one. Also, everyone is extremely loud, people coming in and out screaming and not allowing for others to disconnect at all. Very messy here as well and when I went to get water there was none. We wanted to check out the blue light shower area and it was under construction. That was a disappointment. It seems to me that this spa was once better than it is, it is dated and needs to be updated and cleaned in certain areas. There are too many people coming in and out of there, extremely OVERCROWDED and excessively LOUD. for lunch, we went to la Cote and gave in our voucher to order lunch at the bar, except they only gave us ONE VOUCHER. The concierge at the front told us she put it all on this one card so we trusted that. So we had to wait for the bar tender (who was very nice and accommodating I wish I remembered his name) to contact his manager and speak to the spa. That whole ordeal was about 20 minutes, but it's totally fine because we already ordered a bottle of champagne and an appetizer. We were starving! We get our food which includes a choice of salad with either a chicken breast or snapper. The food was okay, everything was fresh. I enjoyed my meal. I'm not sure if I would go back to the lapis spa, this spa was extremely overcrowded and messy. I want to go to a spa to disconnect and relax not to deal with the craziness of people being inconsiderate of others. The Fontainebleau used to be classy. I fear that they are bringing too many people in to their facilities and not up-keeping the facility as they should. Please clean up the locker room, update your facility and make sure all amenities offered are working, if not advise customers so that they know ahead of time. read more

This was absolutely the best part about staying at the Fountainebleau (besides seeing my cousin of course). The spa facilities are spacious and super clean. There are gender specific areas as well as a common co-ed area. The rain showers are amazing and the steam room is hot and steamy. If you get a 50 min or more treatment, you can spend the entire day relaxing and enjoying the facilities. I love my spa days and this was definitely a great place to do a spa day. read more

When you hear there is a rain tunnel in the spa. You go! Lapis spa is amazing and I would go back in a heart beat! We decided to do a spa massage while we visit the Fontainebleau. It was spa week also so they had a special for 80 min massage. I called and requested for someone firm and I was able to get an appt just 2 days ahead. When I arrived, the women and men are separated but I heard both sides offers the exact same amenities. I love all the different water therapy- whirl pool, rain shower, steam room, and of course the rain tunnel. They also have a coed pool but when I went it was cold, it wasn't warm. We also had a couples experience and my massage was pretty good. Although my husband did not enjoy his massage, he really like the amenities. I'm deducting one star because their other rain room (with marble bed) was out of commission. And the "Oceanside" couples room wasn't really Oceanside at all. Came here for a spa day with my mother & sister to celebrate my birthday in July. Decided against the Miami Spa month specials and choose the 'Busy Traveler' spa treatment that includes a Deep Tissue Massage with Jet Lag Hammam Bath for roughly $230 pp. The cost allows full access to the spa facilities for the day. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 9:30am and stayed until 3pm. After getting a tour of the spa areas, we leisurely explored the Rain Tunnel, Eucalyptus Steam Room, Mineral Jet Bath and the Mineral Co-ed Pool before relaxing in the Quite Room. Unfortunately, the day of our visit the Bleau Rain Room was not in service. Our treatment appointment was at 12:30pm for our 45 min Jet Lag Hammam bath followed by our 50 minute deep tissue message. I forgot the name of the wonderful lovely lady that took care of all 3 in my party for the Hammam bath treatment but she was very good to each of us. I really wish I remembered her name. My message therapist was Elisa, man was she amazing. My stiff muscles melted under her magic hands. Especially around my neck and shoulders where I suffer the most from pain. I felt so marvelous after my full body deep tissue message. I wasn't the only happy customer... After regrouping with my mom and sister, they couldn't stop talking about how great their messages were too. My sister had Ari as her therapist and my mother had Rosemary. We were all walking on clouds after our incredible spa day! Overall, every single staff member we came in contact with was helpful and pleasant with the exception of one older lady with short black hair and an olive complexion that was working in the ladies locker room. My daughters and I went for a spa day and it did not disappoint. We arrived about an hour before our time and we were able to use the facilities. We decided to use the coed hot pool and it was very worth the time. Once it was our time to have our massage p, we were taken upstairs and into our own private rooms for massages. We all chose the Swedish massage, and it was very well worth the price of the massage. My masseuse was wonderful and the massage let me very well relaxed. After the massage, they have a quiet room for you to lie down for a while and relax or you can use either the coed pool, the sauna, the rain shower or the Jacuzzi. We opted to use the hot coed pool.There are snacks, water and tea in the waiting room and you eat as much as you want. There are showers and shampoo, conditioner, body soap are provided. What a wonderful surprise on my second visit it's Spa week. I went for the microdermabrasion, collagen and hydra-facial on Monday. It's like 3 treatments in one for 80 minutes. When it's usually priced at $300 (including the add in gratuity tip) with the Spa week discount it was $168. It's 3 days now and my face looks 10's better. I had some uneven skin tone and clogged pores around the cheek area that has now cleared up. Alicia was my esthetician and she was awesome. No pushing on products and provided tips/suggestions on how to get my skin back on track. I have another planned visit next week to Miami and will schedule another facial while spa week is still going until August 31st. Pros -Large spa with different amenities like a Rain shower, Steam room, Sauna room, Jacuzzi, inside pool. - You also have access to the outside pool located in the famous Fontainebleau Hotel until it closes at 8pm - They have the best estheticians! - Always right on time, so arrive 20 to 30 minutes early, so you can get a tour. Wonderful experience. It was my 10th year anniversary and I decided to take my wife to a staycation at the Iconic Fontainebleau. From the moment we arrived, we felt like VIP's. Edwin greeted us at the reception of Lapis and made us feel like home. We chose the Bleau Heaven (couples massage) and our therapists were outstanding. Sooo Lapis Spa was so relaxing and much needed after a travel day. The receptionist area was very welcoming and a smooth process. After checking in we were escorted to the next level to our massage therapists who were waiting on time. My massage was all that I expected and more. She asked what pressure I wanted and what areas. Also, she wasn't a talker, which was a plus, those are the worst. After our massages, we used the sauna, waterfall room, and indoor pool. These amenities were included in our package and was a relaxing touch. The only reason why I did not give a five star is due to the outdoor pool area. We thought I'd be nice to lay out and order some food. Being Fountainebleau is a "nice" hotel this was be a good idea. Well, the service suuuccckked, I eventually had to get up and order from the bar since the waiters weren't capable of waiting. Well designed spa and great for couples. Great public rain showers. Nice indoor jacuzzi. Swedish massage was ok, my lady didn't apply enough pressure so it felt like a back rub. Some of the private showers were broken (couldn't adjust the water temperature), so after a very hot shower I had to come out naked to grab my towel because towel hook was also broken. I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism in the service. I had to ask for a tour. They had run out of sandals so I had to use my own. The bath robe they gave me was a few sizes too large. Once you leave the spa, you can't go back in, so if you want to go to the pool or beach you must go before. Ambiance in spa was not good...lots of people, and they were very rowdy. I like the Mandarin Oriental Spa much better. read more

We had a ladies spa day and selected the spa package which included the following: 1) one 60 minute massage or facial 2) access to the spa facilities (pool, sauna, steam rooms, rainforest showers, hot tubs, tranquil room, etc...) 3) lunch Overall the spa experience was okay. However, my spa service was garbage. I got the hot stones massage - not an easy task. The technician assigned to me a) burned me over three times with the stones, b) basically applied massage oil to my skin there was nothing remotely close to a rub during my service, and c) she spent more time at the sink then massaging me. She seemed very sweet and I would have just walked out if it wouldn't have been offensive or rude. It was honestly just awful. I was brought back to the women's lounge and never instructed to change into my robe nor given a locker. I had to request these things and finally got the appropriate onboarding. Once that was out of the way, the facilities are AMAZING!!! I wish there was a place even similar to this place in Chicago. The wet facilities were so clean and beautiful - they even had eucalyptus in the wet steam room. I could stay in there all day. My only gripe is the rainforest shower never came on and I don't know if was broken or what. Finally, they had the most incredible showers - this alone could have just been an experience. Probably one of the most awesome showers I have ever taken. Finally, we were given a good 2 hours to enjoy the facilities and had reservations for our lunch. The lunch was really disappointing it was a 2 course meal of basically salad and veggies. Which is fine, but nothing resembling a balanced meal. I basically had two salads. A pre-course salad and a lunch salad. We ordered a pitcher of cocktails and the waitress dropped my cup on ground, she picked it up and was about to proceed to pour the drink in there, but several people stopped her. She said she didn't drop it, but the Manager even caught her as well. There was so much ice in the pitcher we barely got 4 drinks out of it and paid $70 for it. Overall, it wasn't the best experience, but the people that I came with said there services were amazing, despite my bad experience. I gave it three stars because the Assistant Director of the spa refunded the massage due to poor service - which I believe was a noble and customer-centric gesture. I could have saved time and money by just paying the $50 to access the facilities and did lunch on my own. I gave it three stars because the facilities were top notch, but the rest of the spa package was disappointing and not worth the sticker price. However, due to management's gesture to right size the experience and hearing how happy my party was with services, I'd go back again and give them another chance. read more

I've been to the Lapis Spa twice and both times have been great, but this time it was AMAZING! This time around my boss treated us to a spa package including any 50 minute massage treatment. I made appointments for everyone in the office (there's 6 of us) and the gentleman who did the reservation was so patient and funny which is a plus. They were very accommodating to all of our needs which was great considering we were a pretty big group. Check in was a breeze; fast and simple! I definitely recommended getting there 40 minutes before your time even though they say 30 just so you have an extra 10 to unwind and even enjoy an amenity before going into your service. I opted for a hot stone massage and promptly at 11 I was greeted by ROSA who was very warm and welcoming. Before starting the treatment she made sure that I was aware of the hot temperatures and to let her know at any point if I was uncomfortable. This put me at ease because I knew that she would be cautious and always listening to my needs. MASSAGE WAS AMAZING... she had the right pressure, the stones gave it an extra touch. Overall my massage experience was great and I would recommend anyone to come and see ROSA for a stone massage. The amenities are always great and relaxing but this time we all wanted to catch some sun out by the pool. JULIAN who was setting up our chairs was extremely nice and so accommodating. He even went out of his way to find us chairs a little closer to the pool and in the sun. JULIAN really shows that he is a hard worker and shows that he truly cares about guests and their needs. There's a lot of options for Miami spa month but there's a huge advantage on this one Not only do you get a great massage (my bestie and I did the hot stone massage and it was greattttttttt) but also the whole spa is great. Multiple pools and rooms to enjoy. They have everything you need. Shampoo, body wash, hair combs, mouth wash, robes, sandals , everything. The staff is so attentive. ALSO, you get to enjoy the pools outside. You get to spend the day at the FB as if you were a hotel guest. First tine I went on a Friday. The out door pools were packed. It was like a pool party. And for me at least, super fun!!!! Second time was in a Monday and it's still fun just a little more calm. I definitely recommend lapis and the whole spa package to anyone! read more

Oh guys... I love this place! I mainly come here for spa month. They have great deals. What I mainly love about it is the amenities that you have before and after a treatment. Yes it is expensive but you get a whole day to enjoy the beautiful hotel, the beach, AND the spa! I think with all that, the price is reasonable. THE CONS: it's kinda not that great for couples. The two services I booked was the Hammam Bath & Hot Stone Massage. Let's just say I walked out of the spa feeling relaxed. Customer service was excellent. Very clean as well!! There's complimentary, healthy snacks and you are given a robe and slippers to walk around the facility with. My favorite of all was the co-ed pool! So beautiful! I would definitely come back to this spa again when in Miami. This place was fantastic. My friend and I got the couples message because there was a promotion for Miami Spa Month. The massage gave us access to all areas of the spa, the hotel's gym, the pools, and the beach. We got there a little early so we took advantage of the co-ed pool in the spa and the rain shower, both of which felt amazing. About 30 minutes before our massage, we went back to our lockers to get ready to meet the masseuses. The waiting room had tea, water, and light snacks. When it was finally time to get our massage, we were put in another waiting room. We were only there for a few minutes before we were introduced to our masseuses, Tina and Lucas. They were amazingggg! They made sure to ask if we had any parts we wanted to focus on and they made us extremely comfortable. Those 50 minutes passed by quickly. We'll definitely be asking for them when we go back. Once the massage was over, we were able to leave our stuff in the lockers and just hang out at the resort for the rest of the day. I've been to Lapis 3 times and I enjoyed each experience differently. Let's focus on yesterday's visit. I had a 50 minute hot rocks massage with Nelly. She was really sweet and asked if there were any areas I needed her to focus on. She was very professional and massaged with just the right amount of pressure. I think I would do a Swedish the next time because the issue with hot rocks is that there's a lot of stopping to get the rocks and place them, etc. I'm the type of person who wants to fall asleep otherwise I won't turn my brain off and relax. I would recommend Nelly and definitely if you like hot rocks. After my massage, I went to experience the water rituals which are part of why I do the Lapis. It was early so it wasn't that crowded. The mineral bath felt amazing after the hot rocks. I also went in the eucalyptus sauna and did the rain showers. All in all, my experience was good. It's definitely not cheap and they charge you a service charge of 20% that doesn't go directly to your massage therapist. It gets split between the staff. read more

Let me start off by recommending Macy for a massage! She was excellent! One of the best massages i have ever had. She really paid attention to the areas I asked and made me feel so relaxed. And my body felt amazing after leaving. The rest of the spa is nice but could use some updates. The massage room i was in felt more like a hospital room it was kind of dated. I also think they need to be more diligent enforcing the no cell phone rule. It was hard to relax when there was a bunch of girls with their cell phones taking pictures in the rain tunnel and mineral pool. They also should add a couple more lounge areas around the hot tub and pools as they fill up quick. The other thing is for the price you pay, I'm surprised they don't automatically offer slippers or flip flops. You have to ask if you don't have your own. But overall i like the spa! I booked "A Day for two" which included a 50 min Swedish massage, lunch and the use of the facilities all day. The lunch was at Cote by the pool, we ordered the lemon chicken and the fish (all included) unfortunately the food was bland and they served too much salad with not enough dressing. For $5 we also got a glass of rose Now on to the spa. We absolutely loved the facilities, there is a coed pool and the rain rituals which I could be at all day long. There's nothing like some good pampering and relaxation. I visited the Lapis spa during Miami Spa Month last year and I loved it! As soon as you sign in, you are given a robe, slippers, and a locker to put all of your belongings. After changing, the staff gives a full tour of the facilities and services. The spa is very modern, classy, and contemporary in style, which can only be expected of the Fontainebleau Resort. I believe that service will make or break your experience, and it certainly made this one. All of the staff was nice, helpful, and exuded serenity, which is exactly what I look for in spa staff. As I waited for my massage appointment, I was taken to a quaint relaxing lounge stocked with refreshing lemon-water, fruits, nuts and cheeses. Now on to the good part: my massage! I received a 50 min. Swedish Aroma Therapy Massage, which included a scalp massage. The scalp massage was amazing; it was so relaxing, I nearly fell asleep. The swedish massage, my preffered type of massage, was great as well and I didn't want the masseuse to stop! The masseuse was very professional and sweet, making sure to ask if the pressure was okay. During the massage, soothing sounds and delicious aromatic smells filled the dimly lit room. I walked out of that room feeling like a relaxed piece of jello :) As if all that wasn't enough, then came the amenities, which were included with any spa service. They have the Mineral Lapis Water Rituals, Rain Tunnels, Coed Jetted pool, Eucalyptus Steam Room and Bleau Rain Room. My favorite was the Bleau Rain Room because the rain falling down on your body feels like you're getting another massage for free; it's so relaxing. The spa also gives you an all-day pool pass and access to the hotel's private beach-which I also took advantage of. The pool area is very chic, complete with cabanas and beds to lay on by the pool and music playing loud, upbeat music to keep everyone entertained. I spent an hour by the pool looking at all the eye-candy, and then had lunch at the restaurant by the pool. The restaurant was pretty pricey and the food not so yummy, but there was no other option but to leave the hotel, and that's just too complicated. No doubt the hotel knows this and that's why it was pricey. After the pool and lunch, I went back to the spa to end my day the right way - with a dip in the mineral pool and another freebie massage in the Bleau Rain Room ;) This place gets 5 stars because it has what all other spa's have, and then some! read more

I called multiple times a day for 2 weeks straight to try to get an appointment. Every time the guest services desk said someone would call me back in 24 hours. They called back once, left a message, and when I called back I once again was told they'd call back in 24 hours. I never got a phone call. Finally I got through to someone on a Thursday and made 2 massage appointments for the coming Sunday. At 5:45pm the day before I got a voicemail saying one therapist isn't available and my only option was to switch to a facial. I try to call back and what happens- no one is available to speak to me. Beautiful spa that is in need of repairs. Shower would not get hot, faucets and handles look corroded, there are missing hooks for robes where the showers are and there is something to be desired with the type of clientele. As I was walking around the locker room area the vibe was not calm and serene due to the ladies working there screeching out names for people whose appointments are ready and people EATING their nasty sandwiches they BROUGHT in! This should never be allowed for sanitary reasons! And who does that?! Enjoy the spa food jfc! I did enjoy the 'quiet room' while placing a nice cold towel over my eyes. Ahhhh...a spa day, just what I needed to destress after a massive project at work was completed. Usually foot massages do the trick and are much more reasonable. However, I had forgotten, how spending hours and using the amenities at a luxurious spa can be be so ultra relaxing. The amenities at Lapis really make this spa a worthwhile destination. My girlfriend and I checked in and paid immediately. Note: the bill already includes a 20% service charge. Once in the spa, we were given lockers, robes, and slippers sized to our feet. After changing, we were given a complete tour of the facilities. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and courteous. First on the agenda? A cocktail by the pool since our spa day included pool passes for the day. Yes, the pool was noisy and crowded, not a place where I would want to spend a lot of time. However, we we able to snag a couple of chaises and I enjoyed my perfectly mixed mojito. Next up, the spa amenities. First, the only co-ed area with a large mineral pool and a separated small area with 2 strong rain showers. You can lie on marble slabs and let your back be massaged by the shower. Excellent sensation! The ladies' "wet area" is also like a playground for the senses. You can take a dip in the hot tub and then cool off in the cold showers. You can also sweat it out in the eucalyptus steam room and them rinse in the standing shower jets. There are chaises in the wet area and you can relax with the cucumber slices provided over your eyes. There are also individual mineral tubs, however those soaks come at an extra charge. In the dressing area there is a quiet room where one can relax. The area where you wait to be summoned for your service is stocked with water, tea, and snacks like orange slices and pretzels. Bottled beverages and yogurts are available at an extra charge. I opted for an 80 minute Abhyanga Massage (on special for $200!). This massage was supposed "to bring harmony to the mind, body, and, spirit". The massage for me was just okay. It was really too soft for me and when I mentioned this to the masseuse, she replied it was supposed to be that way. Although the massage did not make me feel more "harmonious", it was very relaxing. Had the massage been excellent, Lapis Spa would certainly have merited a 5 star rating. However, for me, the amenities here were nice and comprehensive enough to fully earn a solid four star rating. read more

I took advantage of spa month and took my sister for a spa day for her birthday, when I called to ask for a description of services I was placed on hold several times and disconnected by a not so friendly lady, I eventually got through to a more attentive lady who gave me the details on the services I was inquiring about, I made our reservation which was promptly emailed to me for confirmation. Lapis spa is located on the lower floor of the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach. The spa service allows for pool and beach access and discounted valet parking from $24 to $12 for the first few hours. Once we arrived we were greeted by one of the reception ladies, we were provided with our robes and sandals and shown to the locker room. The locker room is large with electronic lockers, the first floor of the spa has a large steam room, rain shower, Jacuzzi, mineral soak tubs, chaise lounges, a quiet relaxation room, a snack area with tea, water, pretzels and oranges, and a co-ed large mineral and rain shower, the private treatment rooms are located in the 2nd floor. We found the spa to be beautiful but we were anticipating more water therapies based on their water elements advertising. Martha started us with our treatment and we started with the steam room, afterwards Martha showed us to the mineral soak, our tubs were next to each other, we were served a tray with water and cut up oranges to enjoy while we enjoyed the soak, afterwards we were shown to a large rain shower to apply the body scrub, one of the showers didn't have hot water or good water pressure, Martha was extremely pleasant and friendly and I wish she would have guided us through the rest of our treatments because once she left us we felt somewhat abandoned. We asked one of the ladies where we should go for our facials and she said she would gather everyone at the same time, she wasn't kidding, once it was time for our facial appointments this lady took a rather large group of us to the elevator and upstairs to a waiting area for someone to call us back to the treatment area, I felt like we were gathered like cattle, I would have rather they told us to head up to the upstairs waiting area by ourselves. My facial was great, my sister said hers was just ok, we headed back down to check out the co-ed pool and there were a lot of people in it so we went back to the women's only area, which was also crowded and most of the chaise lounges were take by people's towels. Later we had a massage appointment and again we were gathered like cattle and taken upstairs, this time my massage was just ok and my sister said hers was good. I feel like spas should give you a personality test to make sure you're a good fit for going there. I went to Lapis alone for a massage and it was an annoying experience. It was really loud and bustling. Sometimes I felt like I was at Costco. I think it's great for people going in groups, but I was just annoyed by everyone around me talking. In the ladies spa area there are signs everywhere saying NO CELL PHONES and encouraging you to lock up your phone or laptop, but everywhere I turned there was someone snapping a photo of the facilities or asking someone to take a picture of them with their friend. I feel like they should either get rid of the signs saying no phones or just ask people to put them away. The massage I received was not that great. There were some relaxing moments, but my therapist had long nails that dig into my feet and made me really uncomfortable. She was also uneven with doing the same moves on her each side of my body. I'd only go back again if I was part of a wedding party or someone's birthday party/girl's weekend. I don't recommend for going solo if you are sort of a misanthrope like me. read more

I went there today for my Miami Spa Month grand finale, and it's absolutely the best experience I have had these two months, visiting various spas. I agree all the line up of merchandise at the entrance is weird, and not even great looking as merchandising goes. I received excellent service the moment I walked up to the reception. I received a very nice tour of the facilities as well as a discount coupon for a future trip, which I am totally going to take my husband. They also asked for my shoe size and it was nice to walk around in something that fits rather than uni-size. Throughout my stay I saw lots of staff refilling the snacks and towels, cleaning up... so everything was tidy and nice. Changing room is huge, with lots of lockers. There are changing rooms as well for those too shy to change by the lockers. The lounge area is well stocked with the ubiquitous fruit-infused water and nuts, plus a variety of tea with honey and lemon, apples, sliced oranges and strawberries (hulled even!) I have to admit though, the space there is somewhat tight. I went on a weekday morning. There were about 8 of us waiting for our appointments, plus people who just finished their appointments and relaxing there, and a few other people... and the place was totally crowded. Can't imagine how it would be like on a weekend. My masseur Frank was excellent. I asked him what the bamboo massage was like (as I was considering getting it instead of hot stone) and he took out a bamboo stick for a short demo (which made me glad I didn't order it as the bamboo is much less giving than the hands, so the pressure on my body is strong). I hung out in the spa area a bit. There are steam room, water-jet bath, and a larger co-ed pool. Didn't really care for the shower tunnel; living in Miami, I can get my warm rain shower from Mother Nature. I did like the rain room though. Word of warning: be careful. I guess my body was still a bit oily, (despite all the water I've dunked and showered in) and I almost slided off the bench! Oh, they have plates of sliced cucumber for you to cover your eyes while steaming - and if you like steamed cucumber you can eat it afterwards. : ) It's all these little touches that say this is a better spa. The best part of coming here versus other places is, at Fountainbleau you have free access to the pools and beach. They have a nice, big pool, and several smaller ones, include a kids pool with a water slide. I had such a great time I had to start checking the time to make sure I don't run over the 6 hours validation valet limit. Never thought that would happen. At $7 it's cheaper than the meter! So, in conclusion, top notch massage, nice amenities great bonus of pool access. It's not perfect, but pretty darn close to it. read more

*sigh*.... I so desperately want to write a good review.... I truly truly do. But I can't.... on principle, I just can't. So here is how the story goes. I was at the Fontainebleu for a Bachelorette weekend. We were staying at the hotel, and some of the girls, including the bride to be, were all going to get massage's. I, who was driving from Palm Beach, was just going in to get my nails done, "Rescue my nails" treatment. The treatment itself was $45. Ok. Done. I made the appointment. Mother nature attacks and it takes me MUCH longer to get to Miami then I thought. Down pour for half of my drive. My friend who was already at the spa told them that I was going to be running a little late because of the weather. Ok, I thought everything was going to be squared away and all would be ok still. No. Not ok still. My appointment was at 10am, I arrived at 10:20am. I apologized for my tardiness (I get it, it was my fault for being late). Very swanky and beautiful spa. The receptionist then led me to the "salon" where my nails would be done. Once I arrived to the second receptionist, I was told that they would not be able to do my treatment because I was late. Once again, understandable as I was late. What they could do for me is give me a polish change. I graciously accepted cause it was a bachelorette party weekend and I wanted my nails done. So I was ushered to the color wall to pick my color. I was offered a beverage from an elaborate table of different drinks. And then I was called in. Quick quick quick.... polish on, bada bing, bada boom. DONE. all within like 10-15 minutes, compared to the 45 minutes I was supposed to be getting had I not been late. I go to pay, and here is where my issue was. And maybe again it was my fault for not fighting more (my inner lawyer stayed home apparently). Even though all I got was a polish change, they charged me $54 for the total spa package. All I kept thinking was "what?? I didn't get anything done though". But I didn't yell, I paid. There was also a 20% gratuity added on. Which is fine, but still. After all that. My friends who were getting their massages on were not done. So I waited around in the lobby of the hotel until they were done. Once they were done, they told us they were using the spa amenities and that everyone should join them. Since I got a "spa" service, I thought I would be allowed to use the amenities..... WRONG, sooooo wrong. You can only use the amenities in the spa (like the pools, and showers, saunas....) if you spend $80. My $54 was not good enough. I would have to pay $35 extra to use the amenities. Ummm... no. I will not. It's just the principle behind it. I am not going to rush to go back to the spa any time soon, unless I'm getting a massage, etc. etc. Really beautiful, but go for actual spa stuff, not nails. read more
