This was our first visit and we loved the interior and set up of this casual dining space that felt like being in Greece but in a homey and relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming. Our server was enthusiastic, accommodating and very attentive which only enhanced the experience. The Mykonos beer was the perfect cool temp and went down easy. A great reommendation and my new favorite beer. The 3 dips and pita triangles we had as an appetizer were very good, and would have loved to see a few more olives included. The Mousakka and Pastchio main dishes were both tasty and we enjoyed the side of green beans with tomatoes. I was hoping the Mousakka would knock my socks off, and while good, I did expect a bit more flavor and freshness. The portion size was generous. Service was fantastic. The entire establiment was clean, including the restrooms, and we would love to return and try some other menu items. On street parking and outside dining option.

In downtown Fairfield, the Greek America Salad was awesome and the Frappe Martini was very good, albeit extremely sweet. The service was friendly and it had a busy, energetic ambiance.

Beautiful decor and ambiance. Music, nice mix of Greek and English. Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Authentic. The octopus didn't make it long enough to be photographed Now if someone can just read my coffee cup just like my grandmother did.

Still pondering the oddest dinner experience in a long time. My husband is rarely home on Saturdays given his schedule. So we opted to try this Greek restaurant for our date. While pretty and busy at 7:30pm, they had a few open tables. We walked in and were left waiting behind the hostess station with 2 people doing take out food. No one for almost 10 minutes even acknowledged we were there. A mature lady never looked up from the hostess stand. She proceeded to only chat with a man awaiting his take out order. A man at the bar acknowledged 2 women standing closer to the bar that he would have a table for them, but also never came over to us or the couple behind us. No one made eye contact or even gave us a nod. Ready to leave - and wish we had - we were finally seated outside at a table with a dirty under cloth that they came back an put a paper liner on it. Then the same mature woman put dirty dishes at the edge of our table to talk to us. A harried waitress came over apologized how busy they were, and this was after another 10 minutes wait. We had no water nor menus, but she wanted our appetizer order. She quipped they were too busy hence the lack of menus. As I gazed around the restaurant, people were eating or drinking. I didn't see a plethora of menus at every table so they were not all handed out. I said we can't order without menus. Finally we order and now as I worked with the Greek Tourist Board and have been to Greece many times plus love Greek food, i was anticipating authentic Greek food - well seasoned and prepared correctly. Had heard the owners created this taverna to be authentic The menu that sounded amazing led us astray. An order of zucchini chips and Tzatziki arrived. They were not greasy as the waitress promised but so paper thin, not sure the word zucchini should not be on the menu. The Tzatziki lacked all flavor - no tart from the yogurt no spice. A plate of pita bread toast points (not many) was not warm nor crisp. The taramasalata (fish roe dip) was just a pale mush on a plate and flavorless vs. very pink and pungent. Not seeing our waitress for a very long time, I went in from outside and asked if we could have water (no one had ever asked us if we wanted anything to drink - even a Greek soda). I had to beg for sliced lemon for our water (water had an unpleasant mineral like taste). The woman at the hostess stand proceeded to to tell me we "had the most attention of any table there." Wow. That's saying even less for this place. All we wanted was water - and I got a lecture how ungrateful we are. In the meantime- that doesn't say much for others dining if a waitress we never saw was giving us so much attention. We asked for lemon with the water. We received 2 tiny very thinly, sliced pieces of lemon. They looked sad on the plate. Greek food is known to use lemons - but it looked like they didn't want to provide us with lemons. We did see a waiter going back and forth - and wished he was our server. Fast forward the main dish, which the waitress told us to share - came out with rice when ordered Greek potatoes. No one came back to check on us so again we had to ask the hostess for a correction - which she did not promise to help. So we asked the waiter, who surprisingly brought out the food promptly. The entree consisted of 2 tiny rounds of pounded chicken breasts - super thin - with a slice of tomato and a drop of spinach and feta - definitely left us hungry. The potatoes were warm but mushy and salty. Nothing had herbs or garlic. We next received two vegetarian sides to take home for a family member visiting from grad school. The Gigantes - large beans in sauce - warm and just salty. Grape leaves were fine. The waitress came back with a check finally. She apologized how badly the meal was and being spread so thin and that the place was so busy the kitchen couldn't handle the orders. It turned out the man behind the counter was the owner. The hostess was his sister. I told our server that she should not be apologizing, but the owner should come out. She said that was unlikely to happen. So we left unhappy. It's a pretty place. The outside seating is lovely actually. This is the only positive part of the night despite being brought to a table with a soiled tablecloth initially.. I just don't understand how another over priced restaurant near us runs itself without care or quality or serves bland food without spices. I really don't. What a waste of time and money on a rare Saturday date night too. We went to the bakery next door, who thankfully had delicious vegan cupcakes to take home.

Mykonos martini - sweet and tastes like smarties.

This place is new to Fairfield- the staff are learning as we go. Very friendly and honest. We sat at the high tops in front of the bar and the two bartenders were our servers. They were both great. The menu has most of the traditional Greek favorites. We started with the Saganaki (not flaming here) and the single portion of the kasseri cheese and these were served with some grilled pita slices. So yummy. The Mykonos martini is too sweet on its own, but with food it was a good compliment. The Lamb shank was a nice dish with deep flavor that comes from a slow cook. I forgot to take a picture of my Pesticho which was good but doesn't compare to my friend's yaya.

"Like whippets, they dance in a curly-queue dance Of pulses…read moreand ringing and campfire chants Birds of a feather are flocking outside" (Phish) There are so many nice restaurants in Fairfield, picking one for lunch can be a formidable task. But because it was so cold today, we picked one close to the train station for our lunch for three, and it turned out to be a great choice after our meal at Ryebird. Their website describes Ryebird as "A Neighborhood joint where friends and family meet" and that seems pretty much spot-on. The bar is gorgeous, the dining room is beautifully decorated with red painted walls, dark distressed wood tables, and stainless-steel colored chairs. The service was great, I mean outstanding. Our server Leo was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We had a few conversations with Manager Thomas who was very charming and a real joy to talk with. And I haven't even gotten to the food yet! OK, here we go! Our party of three went with a small Chicken Soup for The Soul with Cheesy Bread ($14) for me. What's Cheesy Bread? Well, how about three toasted pieces of gooey pizza bread topped with a feta spread and olive oil. My brother-in-law went with their Daily Pot Pie ($23 for Chicken today), with a house-made buttery crust, scratch-made filling, and an added $4 up-charge for a gravy boat full of mushroom bourbon gravy. My wife went with a Roaster sandwich ($18) of pulled chicken, cheddar, BBQ sauce, pickled onion, on a baguette served with fries. We also had an order of Lemon Chili Zucchini ($9) for the table. The food was wonderful, as both the pot pie and the sandwich were devoured. My soup was a pretty big bowl for a "Small" but was loaded with more carrots and celery than chicken. I asked our server Leo if they had any hot sauce, and he asked me how hot did I want it? Ryebird has a few different types in increasing levels of hotness. I asked for the max, and he brought out a little ramekin of some of the hottest hot sauce I ever had. It was pretty much at my upper level of tolerance. I chatted about it with the restaurant manager on the way out, and he was pretty sure it was made with Ghost Peppers, so that explained my thermonuclear mouth numbing reaction. Anyway, we loved our visit to Ryebird. Their food is reasonably priced, portions are generous, the quality is high, and the service is exceptional. What more do you want in a Fairfield County lunch?

The menu is some what tied into the Puglia region, which is the heel of the boot. I could tell the italian dialect from the owner when he was speaking to one of the staff, it immediately gave me a good feeling that this restaurant would be really good. The appetizers we had were all really good, we had the fried calamari, the grilled Octopusss, the fried zucchini flowers and thd hummus special. Sorry no pics of these. We had a couple of the Orrechiette Barese, Chicken parmigiana, a pasta special of fettuccine with shrimp in a cream and pesto sauce, another pasta with cavatelli, shrimp and cream and pesto sauce, really couldn't see the pesto, probably could have used a little more or maybe a little finishing with the pesto on top. Service was good and the owner came around to introduce himself and we got a complimentary round of their homemade creama di limencello to finish off the experience. The barn-like building's dining room is dominated by thick wood plank paneling, exposed ceiling beams, and a stone fireplace. Three of us stopped in for lunch today, and we had a very favorable experience. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and answered a few questions we had about the preparation of a sandwich. She even ran back to the kitchen to check with the chef and made sure we had the information we were looking for. Their menu is very broad and covers appetizers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, burgers, and bowls. Our lunch was a Southwest Salad ($18.95) with Mojito-lime marinated grilled chicken, crispy romaine, Roasted corn, black beans, pico de gallo, queso fresco, avocado & crispy tortillas with ancho chipotle dressing, Chatham Fish N' Chips ($20.95) with Crispy ale battered cod with fries, tartar sauce, house slaw and lemon wedges, and a Grilled Chicken Caprese Sandwich ($17.95) with Lemon-Pepper grilled chicken breast, roasted red peppers, baby arugula, fresh mozzarella, and pesto aioli served on a toasted Rosemary focaccia. The food was excellent. I had the salad, and the first thing I noticed was there was a LOT of grilled diced chicken on my plate. It was a big portion, certainly enough for two sittings, and I have to say that ancho chipotle dressing was sneaky spicy! I really liked this place. Decent pricing, good food, good value, plenty of choices, a friendly staff, a full bar, and pretty much whatever you look for to enjoy a meal. What more can a Yelper want?

I wanted to expand my palate that evening and surprisingly I actually really liked it. The amount of blue cheese was perfect for me (despite the reviews) as it would have made it too salty and greasy. Next was my entree: Modified Kettle Cooked Zoodles. As a vegetarian, I never have the highest expectations but I was blown away! Chris our server was so sweet to have this customized for me. We took the idea of hubby's Branzino sauce and added more veggies to the Kettle cooked Zoodle dish. It was so yummy! Hubby's Branzino: fish was well cooked, elegant flavors from the Puttanesca sauce with spinach and mashed potatoes were excellent! Faux-ito: I got two, the first was the classic, the second was a mix of strawberry and pineapple. Both delicious mocktails! The Forbidden Pear: hubby got this one. very balanced, not sticky sweet.
