Theatres are ok, but the crammed lobby and consession stand are probably enough to prevent me from coming back.

This was my movie theatre growing up... when you are a teenager with no car and you live in a small…read moretown you don't have a lot of options. Back in the day there was only 2 theatres and the feel was always a bit drab and dingy but I didn't care, I just wanted to hang out with my friends. Cut to this past weekend when I was back in town with my boyfriend to spend most of Easter weekend with my parents. We decided to take in the latest superhero movie and saw that they had a matinee going on so to the theatre we went. Walking inside it looks basically the same as it did all those years ago... still a bit shabby, in need of a facelift, but nothing off-putting. Just a bit tired. The big surprise came when we paid for our tickets--two 3D tickets for less than $20! We got a movie and popcorn for literally $20!! It was absolutely nuts. The actual theatre rooms have been renovated (and two more added in the past 10 years, so they have four screens instead of two) and look absolutely lovely inside, on-par with any of the big theatres in Edmonton. Giant leather reclining seats that have arms with cup holders that move up and down. Wide aisles, low stairs, great space between the seats. Comfort at it's finest. The very best part, the thing we were most excited about? Two previews before the movie, that was it. The movie started exactly on time because we didn't have to sit through 25 minutes of previews! It was absolutely fantastic. If you happen to be in Leduc with some time to kill or you don't mind making the quick trip out to see a movie it is absolutely worth your time. Leduc Cinemas, we will definitely be back soon.

The films are of great variety from animals, environment, action, and more! Recently, I went to see Pandas: The Journey Home in 3D. It was a weekday afternoon and there were about 10 others in the theatre. It would be great to see more people watching this film but it was shown a few times that day and has been playing for a while now. The seats are assigned when you buy your tickets. I was really impressed with the renovations of the theatre. I didn't have to hold my seat down which is great for those who have their hands full with snacks. Most of the seats are in the middle with about 4 on the sides. The 3D glasses they gave you are big and sturdy and almost seemed new even though people have worn them. They are much better than the ones I have worn at the regular theatres. If you are a panda fan, this is a must see film! For 40 minutes, we got to see cute and cuddly pandas as they grow from babies at the Wolong Panda Centre in China. There's also a story of a panda preparing and returned to the wild. Love the new IMAX theatre! The price is $13.95 for adults but there's a 10% coupon in the SUTP. The best way to see lots of shows more economically would be to purchase a membership or volunteer! One of the volunteer perks is to get free passes after you've completed certain number of hours and time but it's fun to volunteer here!

The wife and I have an annual tradition to visit Deadmonton and are never disappointed - and the…read moresame goes this year. This year, it was held at the old Edmonton Sun building and exhibited some unique themes. They had a total of 3 tours plus photo area, food truck, fire pits, and drinks! I would highly recommend visiting this event because you can really see the amazing work and talent that goes into creating these tours each year. Edmonton does not always have a lot going on, but this is definitely one that tops the list. If you are really brave, they have a lights out event on the last weekend, where all they give you is a glow stick. That is quite the experience as well - if you dare!

I tried to stand up for myself and find accommodation for my disabilities but I just kept getting made out to be the problem. After the season I had to recover for more than a month for what they made me do and the strain it put on my disabled body. Not only that, but I saw the actor managers + the makeup head pull 3 actors into the makeup room one night some years ago. Not sure what happened there exactly, but they were the most visibly neurodivergent out of the whole crew. Those three that got pulled into the room seemed to be very on edge the rest of that season. I haven't seen those three get hired back these past couple of seasons. I can only assume for ableist reasons. For a small company, it sure likes to run itself like a corporate entity. So I think it's safe to say I will not be returning to act or even support this business now that I know what goes on behind the scenes.
