I tried to stand up for myself and find accommodation for my disabilities but I just kept getting made out to be the problem. After the season I had to recover for more than a month for what they made me do and the strain it put on my disabled body. Not only that, but I saw the actor managers + the makeup head pull 3 actors into the makeup room one night some years ago. Not sure what happened there exactly, but they were the most visibly neurodivergent out of the whole crew. Those three that got pulled into the room seemed to be very on edge the rest of that season. I haven't seen those three get hired back these past couple of seasons. I can only assume for ableist reasons. For a small company, it sure likes to run itself like a corporate entity. So I think it's safe to say I will not be returning to act or even support this business now that I know what goes on behind the scenes. read more

The wife and I have an annual tradition to visit Deadmonton and are never disappointed - and the same goes this year. This year, it was held at the old Edmonton Sun building and exhibited some unique themes. They had a total of 3 tours plus photo area, food truck, fire pits, and drinks! I would highly recommend visiting this event because you can really see the amazing work and talent that goes into creating these tours each year. Edmonton does not always have a lot going on, but this is definitely one that tops the list. If you are really brave, they have a lights out event on the last weekend, where all they give you is a glow stick. That is quite the experience as well - if you dare! read more

It was my first time to Deadmonton, and it was great. It starts with the created post-apocalyptic village with affected villagers, fire pits and make shift trade stores - the village also offers drinks and donairs. Then comes the lineup for the Deadmonton main show, which features a variety of zombies and horror show sites with costumed actors and actresses jumping out of dark corners!!! We are so dang lucky to have Deadmonton in Edmonton! Every single year it gets better and better! The 2017 edition does not disappoint. There were quite a few spots that made me scream out loud this year and of course the line up to get in is half the fun. The only part that I wasn't a huge fan of this year was the tube you have to walk through that seriously felt like you were being re-birthed. Think sweaty, rubbery, tube you have to practically swim through to make it out - longest 30 seconds ever! Ewwwww! (Hence why we nicknamed it the Vaginal Canal!) Loved the clock room towards the end and the foggy marsh/boardwalk scene this year. Absolutely phenomenal and fun for all ages!!! LOVED it LOVED it LOVED it! read more

New location is better than ever. I love that Deadmonton changes up the theme every year. This year is apocalypse. You arrive (parking to the rear of the building), and head towards the military tent at the back and wait in line. The building is set up to look like a quarantine facility and patrolled by armed guards wearing gas masks. A few unfortunately infected souls also wander through the line up getting you suitably freaked out. I won't tell you what happens inside the haunted house but its worth the $25 admission fee. This was a great evening of laughs and scares!! Definitely for over 14 years old, and not for faint of heart. We showed up at around 6:45pm with an opening time of 7pm. We got right into the tent, which has a heater and concession stand. We thought the scares and laughs in there were fantastic, the walk through was around 15 minutes. I will recommend that if you have any breathing issues, bring your inhalers. The set up inside was perfection, testing all different fears aside!!!! Definitely recommend this for those that can handle the frights, there were people leaving through the escape doors, no lies, some people couldn't handle it. I had such a great time at Deadmonton this year. It was my first ever time & although the line was long (over an hour), the staff continued to keep you entertained... especially when they'd sneak up on your friends! It's a bit pricey but overall not bad for the quality of haunt that you get. The props and set up were amazing and the actors did an incredible job keeping it creepy. I laughed the whole way through. It was great! My friends were terrified. Can't wait until next year to see what they come up with. **If you want to skip the line you can purchase a speed pass at an additional $20 over the regular ticket price but I feel that's just too steep. Better off just bringing some snacks and enjoy a lengthy visit with your friends while you wait to get to the front of the line. read more

This is the best Halloween experience in town, probably the best in Alberta. The actors, the props and the makeup are incredible quality!

You did a really great job this year! Love the theme and open space. The parking however needs working on, it's a mud land over there across the street and it would also be nice if they invested in a automated pedestrian cross light on this busy one way road. You literally need to Time your J-walking on the street or sprint if you Park here. Back to the main review, it is well organized in sections for the initial line up which is regular purchased tickets, purchasing tickets, and speed pass. Open area has a small concession for beer, pop, and mini donuts. With costumed people come to scare for your entertainment and also a small patio above the concession to hang out for a bit. I bought the speed pass for my group and it was fantastic, lounge around for awhile then immediately jump into the jump scares right after. This will take you to another queuing for groups (3 queuing group lines). Obviously no recording or photography in the one way maze. There are outhouse washrooms before entering the long line up so do tend to that first. After all that, just have fun. The scares were different, if you been to the one downtown long ago they did major improvements. I'm quite surprised the distance we travelled from the beginning to end. Roughly takes 30min of a walkthrough if you walk slowly to enjoy each scare. Recommended for anyone looking to have a good scare for Halloween with friends (friends who are capable of being scared). Deadmonton 2016. Can it be better than 2015? Is it even possible? YESSSSS!!! This year is just as amazing as last year. In fact, it seems longer! (Although, is that really a good thing when you're terrified out of your mind?). First of all... 75 or so people "chickened out" last year and couldn't finish. Chickens. If you were one of those people, you should probably just go to the pumpkin patch this year. This year is disgusting, and terrifying. All of your phobias.... clowns? Check. Spiders? Check. Mice? (Fuck I hate mice). Check. Worms and maggots? Check. And so much more I've already blocked from my memory. Of course the monsters jumping out at you every friggen 10 seconds just gets your heart-a-racing. But still, you don't run because who wants to run into whatever is hiding around the next corner or lurking behind the next curtain!! Disgusting smells, amazing props & costumes, and so much effort put into every room. It is worth the $20 (cash or credit at the door, NO DEBIT), or you can buy a speed pass online for $40. I forgot to check in when we went but we went Saturday night before Halloween, we had to wait naturally but we were surprised it was only a little short of two hours! Love the new location and the fact they have plenty of parking! The actors while you are waiting in line are both engaging and entertaining! This is by far my favourite year, the props and actors inside are phenomenal! Each "set" leaves you wanting more! Go in with a great sense of adventure you won't be disappointed, seriously thinking of going again before this season ends! This was so amazing! I didn't think it would be so good, I had much lower expectations as I had never been to one of these before. I went to Friday the 13th event. The line up was long (2 hours) but so worth it! Make sure you go with someone you like and can stand in the cold with for a couple of hours :) I was with my bestie so it was no issue. The scary actors In costumes going through the line up were great, it really made me scared for what was to come inside the theatre! I almost fell running away from one of them lol a little tip: while in the line up don't show them you're scared or they will come after you lol The details and costumes and set up were so intricate! The smells and the sounds too! The scariest activity I've ever done! Great to go with a few people. Me and my bestie tagged along with a couple behind us to make a group of four when inside and I ended up grabbing the girl and screaming the whole time lol You know you're scared when you're grabbing onto strangers Id be too scared to go the flashlight only event but I'd definitely go again to the regular one next year! I was so excited to have an opportunity to attend Deadmonton 2017's soft launch last night. This was my first visit to a haunted house, and after my experience yesterday, it won't be the last. While in line, colourful characters worked the crowd keeping us all entertained. The actors definitely know who to target if they want to get the best reaction. A couple members of my group were already starting to get a bit scared! You enter the house in groups of 4-5 after a quick overview of the rules. Right away it feels like you've been transported into another world. The layout of the theatre really gives it an otherworldly experience as you're led up, down, and around. I quickly lost track of where I was in the building. Nothing here was "too scary". Yes, I definitely jumped and screamed but more than anything the adrenaline kept me laughing and having a great time. Some of the actors really went all out (shout out to the guy in the library!) The main experience is definitely worth the cost and the time spent waiting in line. I will definitely be back next year! read more

Halloween is definitely my favourite time of year, and now I have a favourite haunt! If you saw this place last year, this year it is bigger and better, now with more smells... Now located in the old Paramount Theatre, the props are movie quality and the attention to detail that has gone into everything is simply amazing! The actors are damn good at what they do and manage to startle you even if you don't scare easily! It is $20 cash or credit only at the door. The week of Halloween, it goes up to $25. There are speed passes to avoid the almost 2 hour wait. Regular speed passes are $35 and Halloween week they are $40. Speed passes are only available on the website. The lineups can be pretty long on Friday and Saturday. The only downside to this year's location is that it is not accessible. There are lots of stairs and narrow walkways. This haunt is definitely not for children - way too scary! read more

Year 2 for Deadmonton Haunted House and this year Ryan Kozar stepped up his game. This year it is at the old Paramount Theatre on Jasper Avenue and the lines are treated better so you aren't standing in the cold as long. The guest are greeted with popcorn and in groups of 40 taken into the theatre by creepy ushers to watch a 5 minute short by Richard Lucas. Afterwards that 40 is lined up in groups to go through the haunt while the next 40 are being seated to watch the movie. The scares have also increased with many convincing, talented actors. Without giving anything away, the dread and ambience have had people screaming, shaking, crying, laughing and overall terrified. Not to be missed and I will be waiting for you inside. read more

The house itself was full of rooms that did both have the gore factor and for people like me lots of pop out of the closet type scares. I got there early, or so I thought. The line up to get in by 745 pm was about 2 block long before you got to pay. This took almost 3 hours. The whole time your in line they have various actors come out to entertain and scare the crowd. They are very friendly and photogenic. Once you paid you were in the lobby for another 20 min or so before getting ushered into the theatre to watch a short film that sets the mood. From there on you start your adventure. I personally got spooked once. They did a great job of putting it together. The person I was with got extremely scared and had a melt down. We managed to get into a room where I moved to a corner and tried to calm her down. There was an actor in this room that never once came to try and scare her. They have one job and that to scare people but much respect to this person as they knew she was in real distress and didn't try to arriviste the situation. I only found out they were there because they got the group after us (who were from there on ahead of us). I personally recommend the experience read more

Deadmonton house did an awesome job again this year! When it open to the public tomorrow, be in for a great time and some awesome scares! I had so much fun tonight taking in all the screams, all the awesome acting and props. The scenes in this year were different from last year and I really thought they did a good job. Deadmonton was the first haunted house I've been to outside of Klondike Days and West Ed. While I'm a little bit squeamish and apprehensive about going to Deadmonton, it turned out to be a fantastic experiences and I will definitely go again next year. First of all, it was a bit nostalgic for me as Deadmonton is in the old Paramount Theatre on Jasper in Downtown Edmonton. They did a great job transforming the theatre into movie quality themed rooms. Even as we were waiting to get in, the actors in costumes would wander around entertaining and spooking us. read more

I look forward to this event every year. All your senses are heightened so its not for the faint of heart or claustrophobic type people. It's a scary experience like Edmonton has never seen before! This is a very well done haunted house! The Paramount Theatre that it's housed in adds to the creep factor and the decor, costumes, smells (yes the rooms smell different) and all the added effects make it a really great haunted house experience. The chicken out tally was around 40 so far this year when we went and they are missing out, the house is quite the experience and I recommend it to any haunted house fanatics. We got the speed passes for $40 which is a decent amount to pay since your visit really isn't that long but since it was cold and snowy the night we went we were really happy to have them once we saw the line that snaked all the way around the block. read more

What a place! Deadmonton House was amazing. It's definitely a great attraction to visit during this time of the year. Make up, costumes, decoration, lights, horrible x-rays at the dentist room, also the creepy librarian!! Every detail made this place awesomely balanced but the best part is that I didn't need the diapers! The staff walked around the line outside of the theater and also while at the lobby there was a good show to made the time pass faster. Usually they will ask you to form groups of maximum four to start walking through the scary labyrinth, so pick well as you will have to hold hands and run. Try to leave enough space in between your group and the group in front of you or you will miss some good surprising moments. The only thing that I didn't like but I will leave the five stars was the bathroom, it is horrible, maybe they left it as is to match the decoration? I'll let you judge for yourself. There is a gift shop at the end of the tour, take your time to go through it as you will find really good stuff in there. I don't have many pictures to share as first it will no be safe to walk/run while taking pictures, but also because it is not allowed. Having said that just want to add that this is definitely on my list of places to visit next year!!!! read more

One word: SPOOKTACULAR! I had to come back and experience it again after first coming for the Yelp Event. I am not one who seeks out fear, gore or horror so I had my reservations about coming to this haunted house. I was pleasantly surprised. Did I get scared? You bet! Did I pee my pants? No. Thank God lol! but I have never had so much fun in the anticipation of the spooky things that were coming next. The actors were wonderful, the makeup and costumes were fabulous and the sets were amazing. Face Your Fears was the theme this year and the haunted house allowed you to do just that. It featured many different sets that represented the many phobias one could have. I do not want to spoil the surprise so I will not divulge anymore details as the anticipation is what gets you. It is like a living horror film and for 20 minutes to a half hour, you get to be one of the main characters in it. It was fantastic! I would definitely come back again next year. My god. They have done it again. Last year was pretty good but this year is fantastic. This is an absolute must to go to this Halloween but be sure to get there early if you don't want to wait in line (or you can buy the express pass to skip the line for an additional $15). Being set in the old theatre downtown makes it for a perfect spot to scare everyone. I don't want to give away to many spoilers but the way they have done the spaces and even made it smell mouldy in some places improves the atmosphere so much. The actors are all fantastic and do a wonderful job. If there is one thing you should do this Halloween it's this haunted house. This is an adult experience and would be way to scary for kids. Even some adults chicken out every day. It's $20 to get in now and $35 on Halloween week. Money well spent! read more

Our family attended Deadmonton for the first time this year. We have been to other haunted houses (including several at large amusement parks in the US) and Deadmonton exceeded our expectations. We don't scare easily but my teenager kept dropping back into the safety of the middle of the group despite bragging about how he was going to lead the whole way! Clearly a lot of time and effort when into the planning, set up and staging. The layout was very well thought out and the crew did a fantastic job turning fantasy into reality. The props and costumes were impressive and the pop-out points were well placed and carefully camouflaged. The actors were well rehearsed, enthusiastic and did a great job staying in character and engaging the public. The whole thing was longer than I anticipated and worth the money. Get there early in the season, and early in the day for the shortest lines, which can get insane! DeadmontonHouse terrible customer service- website defaults to booking for next avail., which led to us being turned away for booking. Asked to speak with owner. He was belligerent, and then he alleged that she had previously tried to scam him- confusing her with someone else. The staff were rude and didn't conduct themselves professionally, mocking her for complaining about the refund policy, which is "only online- through an application." Meanwhile, guests can pay there for visits. Point of sale systems should and CAN support refunds. Will never be back, as I do not support shady business practices. read more

Hi! My first time here. I'd say it was not too bad. Not a fan of scary clowns but the whole point of a Haunted House is to be scare. Unfortunately, we picked a day the weather was no cooperating. We chose to risk not getting early bird tickets and bear the wait. And did we wait. We lined up at 630. Doors to open at 7pm but we did not get in until 845. Took about 20 mins. They did entertain us in the line by having scary characters walk around. Would have been better if there was more entertainment. Good thing Remedy and Tims was close by for both hot beverages and bathroom areas. The Deadmonton housed two portapottes at the door. Could only pay inside and they gave you a choice, if too scare leave and there would be no judgement persay. There was an entertainer inside right before the door of the haunted out but could have used her outside like a street performer. We only got to go in groups of 4 because they had to somehow split up group of 8. I can see why after going through it. Easier to manage and scare less people rather than heard a big group along. Actors were everywehre, decor, lights and music added to the ambience. I would have to say I was very impressed. Price is a bit steap, however, worth it if youve never been. I was so impressed on how organized this haunted house was! This was opening night and you always expect a hiccup or two, but every actor was in character, they're timing was perfect and the flow was spectacular! If you are afraid of clowns, doctors, or the dark, you will be impressed with the realism of all of the scenes! These people have taken their haunted house very seriously and it has paid off! This was my 1st year going and I will go back. It was a lot of hurry up and wait though. The time to actually get to the box office was acceptable but waiting to get into the film portion was crazy. Then waiting to get into the bowels of Hell was another long wait. It might have not been so bad but I had a pair of preteen soon to be douche kids behind me. The two men children tested my patience. I offered 2 different actors $40 cash if they would give special attention to the lil punks. They both declined something about glad to do it for free but they wouldn't let me stay behind to watch. Take the warnings seriously if you have breathing problems do not go. I had trouble breathing by the end and I have no such health issues. The smells and the fog really did a number on me. Make sure the people you are going with can hold a conversation or you will want to bail from all the standing around. I was a tad disappointed that the story in the film didn't match the story on the website that was posted months before. There was nothing to do with a farm that had suffered from a drought year and that the family had suffered greatly and anyone who visited the farm never returned etc. read more

Definitely worth the wait in freezing line-up! I had never been to an actual scary haunted house before so I was not sure what to expect. They had people dressed up outside to get you in the mood and had you listen to people's screams as you neared the front of the line. I'm not usually easily scared and this place made me jump.
