Oh gosh Galaxyland... back when it opened when I was a wee child it was Fantasyland but it had to be renamed and this name came complete with a space theme and Cosmo the mascot. Boy have I had some adventures here! From falling down an escalator as a tot to riding the Mindbender roller coaster back when that was still a thing, showing off the amusement park to university/college students visiting our city from elsewhere or playing laser tag with the band Green Day when they came to town for Edge Fest or most recently visiting to play DDR with my partner or bringing our toddler here to ride rides... Galaxyland is a thing. It can be a place of joy or a place of sorrows... it can certainly be an expensive visit or an inexpensive one depending on how you do it, but it can clearly be a lot of fun! When I was a kid I ADORED The children's play park area. My toddler loved the ball pit when we visited as a family. The rides are a mixed bag. Currently most are themed around Hasbro properties and some aren't really suitable for adults who are exceedingly tall though the height restrictions for children are clearly noted. I have a lot of fond memories here but note that it can be really noisy and crowded so plan accordingly. It is great that in a winter city like Edmonton indoor amusement areas like this one exist, clearly! read more

This is similar to Circus Circus in Las Vegas but this is twice as good if not better. The rides are so much fun and exciting. Quite the time and so much thrill. I'm terrified of roller coasters because of the metal hitting the rails and the g-forces but I wanted to have fun. And after visiting here I think I got over that and am looking forward to amusement parks. Tip: if you are staying at the Fantasyland hotel, you can buy passes for more than half the cost. It even includes access to attractions outside the amusement park including mini golf, maze, indoor beach, aquarium, ice rink and much more. We were invited for a birthday party at Galaxyland's play park. The place seems a lot cleaner than it used to but I would still caution the kids not to touch their faces and use hand sanitizer before and after. They removed some of the more "high-touch" parts like the ball pits. There are still a lot of crowded areas so if your kids feel more comfortable with masks around crowds, I would recommend that. After we played in the play park area, we went down to the go karts area for the "birthday room". There was a sink in the room but no soap so we had to go to the private bathrooms down there to wash hands before food, cake and gifts. Afterwards, we went back to Galaxyland to hop on the rides. They were trying to charge for the full pass but my kids are quite small (6&4) so I asked what rides they CAN go on and also which ones are open today? (Some rides close for maintenance so be sure to ask this question to save some money). So we ended up paying about $20 less that the full price since we only got the rides that were actually available. ($70 for 2 kids plus 1 chaperone). Fun place to go for kids of all ages--- the one day pass is very expensive if your not going to do ALL OF THE RIDES- check out what rides you want to do first and just buy the tickets. Unless you actually want to be there all day and ride all rides multiple times. Went on the weekend to check out the new features and it was so busy. Not enough staff (lines could move so much quicker if they had more than one person working each ride). Zero sanitation processes (I get covid is "over") but there was no sanitizer anywhere. Not even for patrons to use. Paths are not wheelchair friendly (understand that weekends are the worst for wheelchairs and strollers) but the park was near inaccessible in some parts due to renovations. Crowds we can handle.. but the cleanliness or lack of process is disappointing. read more

I seen Galaxyland through a three year olds eyes and it was fantastic! My daughter is finally (exactly) the right height to go on some rides! I got her the little kid wrist band that was $35 and I got a chaperone wristband (I didn't know that was even a thing) for $15, which I thought was a good deal! Better than paying full price when you can only go on a few rides. But it's actually not a few rides... there are loads. Beginner rides: + Balloon Race + Carousel + Cosmic Bounce + Galaxy Express + Solar Spinner + Fun House + Galaxy Kids Play Park Intermediate rides: + Lazer Vault + Time Freak + Flying Galleon + Galaxy Quest Galaxy Express, The Flying Galleon and Fun House were our favourites and we went on those multiple times before leaving. I like that there are a few she could also go on alone. She came out of that place a thrill seeker and we had the most fun day together! read more

Wow, how things have changed. They've definitely made this place a lot more kid-themed, with the whole Cosmo mascot and purple interior. This review is of the Mindbender roller coaster. Parking is available all around the mall. Though this won't apply to 99% of you, one cool thing is that they honour old tickets from decades past. I had some Fantasyland (that's what this place was called back in 1992) tickets, which I had stashed for 2 decades (don't ask). When I showed the guy at the admissions booth, he asked me to check with the head office in the back. Over there, the guy confirmed that the tickets are still good! Score! I won't go into how the Mindbender staff were giggling at how old those tickets were too. Those tickets were older than the staff. As for the Mindbender? This is the highest indoor roller coaster in the world, and if you ask me, is the 1 ride to hit up if you must choose (a close second possibly being Space Shot). I have no idea how they managed to pack a triple loop roller coaster into such a tight space, because the track actually weaves around another coaster! They tell you to keep your hands on the bar in front, and I can see why. You can easily lose an arm here if you're not careful. The ride is quite quick. Unfortunately the carts are an older design, and if you're in the back of the cart you can't see too much in front. This adds to the fun though, as you can't see where the next drop is located. They say the 2nd loop causes about 6 Gs, and if you don't brace yourself, you can easily get the wind knocked out of you. Just FYI. Oh yeah, don't fret over the fact ther was a fatal accident here in 1986 (just read Wikipedia), as the carts are a newer design now, and my understanding is that since that accident the safety record has been excellent. Came here for my birthday weekend. My wife and two kids bought a mall pass for two days. Galaxy land was part of the pass. We spent Im guessing 8hrs here over two days. My small kids had a great time with only a couple complaints: the kids bumper cars were down and the go carts were too slow. Later hours would be nice too. I think we got a good value out of our passes and lines to rides were not that long even at peak times. Prices for food are high (expected). There is a lot to do and see, I would plan for a full day of fun if you come here. Great family place to come in the winter. The staff all over the park was very friendly I did not see anyone was not. Five stars for service and fun...... you won't be disappointed!! read more

Wow they have rides for everyone at all ages. They have a pretty big and high roller coaster. It goes so fast. It does 3 loops and last for quite some time. I like how they do so many checks before having that thing run. The coast of that ride is $12 and its super scary looking. I have no guts to go on it. I also like how they make good use of space to maximize the things they can put into the limited space. It was pretty busy inside and noisy. But the noise is contained. Once you leave Galaxyland, you don't hear the screams and loud noise. read more

I had a lot of fun at Galaxyland! For an inside amusement park, it is very impressive! They have beginner, intermediate and advanced rides, although not in the same proportion... but still a few for adults. My favorite was the mindbender; this is advanced ride where you will feel the speed and adrenaline! My second best was the Galaxy Orbiter, little less speed but lots of spins :) They also have the Autosled for those who don't feel like trying something too fast. Overall they have lots of attractions. I was hesitant about going there as I thought they'd be just for kids but gladly I found some good ones :) If you are planning to be there for a few hours and/or try most of the attractions, I'd suggest to buy the all-day pass or the family pass. Otherwise you will need to buy tickets for each attraction. read more

Took my two small children here on the weekend. Ages 6 & 7. The day started off pretty bad when I found out I had to pay adult prices for my small children. They couldn't even go of most of the rides because of there size. The good about the place is it a wonderful place for children & teenagers. My kids had a blast. The bad was the price, many rides where not working, no boys bathrooms located inside Galaxyland (only boys bathroom available was outside Galaxyland in food court. I don't recommend this place. There are way more better cheaper places to go. We will not be going back anytime soon. read more

Place run down, many rides closed, huge lines. Men's bathroom being renovated, so you need to leave the park and go to the food court. 7 of the 27 rides were closed, including big coaster. Put some money into the Saloon where you shoot with a rifle on objects to make them move - nothing happened. Asked for help/refund: "There will be someone with you shortly" - nobody showed up. Update: after 15 minutes someone showed up and found out that our coin got stuck. When he fixed it and walked away we recognized that the machine was not working - even with money now accepted. Another complain and another 15 minutes later we got a free game on a different rifle. Targeting was nearly impossible as it was completely off. At least this attraction was in a very bad shape and we had the impression that management does not care too much. No reason to spend any more money there... read more

You guys! Galaxyland is an amusement park inside of a mall. And it has not one, but TWO adult-sized roller coasters in addition to their kiddie rides, haunted house, and other fun stuff. And yes, I rode them both. Tickets are kind of pricey, but hey I was willing to pay for the experience. The smaller roller coaster is 6 tickets and the bigger one (which happens to be the tallest indoor roller coaster around) is 7. I think this works out to about $20 total. The smaller roller coaster actually has spinning cars for four and it's a real doozy at the end. Jennie M and I rode it and had to sit for a few minutes afterward to stop our heads from spinning. Then the bigger one has three loop-de-loops and a dead serious drop at the beginning. Of course you have photos taken throughout the rides and they are for purchase at the end. Or if you want you can simply email a digital copy to yourself for 4 bucks which I think is pretty cool. I definitely think this is an opportunity not to be missed if you are in Edmonton. And then on your way out you can go for a swim in the waterpark. Because, yeah, this mall has it all. read more

Ok Galaxyland... you've got my respect. Yesterday, my wife lost her phone in your kid-friendly innards. After deducing that it was lost somewhere around the Autosled ride and informing the staff, they proceeded to immediately shut down the ride and called maintenance to start their search for the elusive phone. After 10 or 15 minutes, my wife's phone was found! It had fallen underneath the tracks of the roller coaster. A huge thank you and shout-out to Josef and Patrick of the Galaxyland staff and to the maintenance guys who found the phone. I've got to admit, I did not expect the Galaxyland staff to be that helpful. I am so glad that I was wrong! Not only were they super helpful, but also very attentive and didn't once make us feel like we were a burden. I'll bet Disneyland wouldn't shut down Space Mountain to find my wife's phone. read more

Known as the world's 2nd largest indoor amusement park - it boasts of 24 rides and attractions. Nonetheless, indoor amusement parks aren't something new to me. I love my crazy rides but as an adult - I find this theme park to be adult-unfriendly. I came here with a friend who happens to be around 6'2. Excited as we were then, we begin strolling through galaxyland - in search of the first ride that we may begin our fun with. We strolled and strolled and came upon the famous "mindbender". It is basically the only ride for a roller coaster junkie. Although, they do have smaller stuffs like the haunted house, the one that shoots you up in the air, the one that goes round and round like the ones in the playground... oh! And the bumper cars.. But.. that's pretty much really. Due to many of the rides' height restriction - my friend and I was only able to enjoy 4 rides, the haunted house and a 7D experience theatre. Value for money? Not in my humble opinion. Value for kids? Yes, most definitely. Are there lockers available? If you're lucky enough and if it's a quiet day. All in all, I give it a 2 star only because they couldn't accommodate my friend for most of the rides - which takes away the fun of being there. read more

I have many happy memories from when I was young of riding the swings while my mom watched and took pictures as well as riding the train through the park with my dad. These memories are part of the reason I feel sad sometimes when I see how little time and money has been put into maintaining and updating the park.There are way too many faded signs,peeling paint,and burnt out bulbs for my liking. Also if you go during the week I have noticed that some of the rides and games will be vacant with nobody manning them and no signs to indicate when or if somebody will be returning. Don't get me wrong there is still lots of fun to be had here for the kiddos like the train,swings,dragon coaster,balloon Ferris wheel and the haunted house. There is definitely a lack of rides that I would consider to be stimulating for adults though. The mind bender roller coaster,the upside down ship,and the smaller yellow coaster are the first and only things that really stick out for me which means as an adult you might be looking at a long day with lots of walking,standing,and watching. Another point I want to bring up is that the majority of the staff here are underpaid teenagers so the service can sometimes be a little questionable. The mother of one of the developmentally delayed children I do respite for brought her son into the galaxy kids play park portion of Galaxyland today and he was able to get the staff to open the door for him so he could sneak out and go running after a little boy he had been playing with that he didn't want to leave without them questioning who he belonged to. I say if your a tourist in Edmonton or maybe a local whose kids have just reached theme park age it's worth it to go once just to allow them to burn off some energy,have fun,and make some memories. Outside of that though considering the price and condition of the park it's my opinion that after one trip any repeat visits to the mall could be better spent at the waterpark. read more

This review is only for Mindbender, since that is the only ride I rode while in Galaxyland. I would have given it a 5 star but I felt like the side shoulder bars were karate chopping my jaw throughout sharp turns. This ride definitely made me scream my head off. The drops were straight down from way up high. I would say this was the scariest roller coaster I've been on in a long time. I would like to go back and ride on the orbiter roller coaster. read more

Maybe Disneyland has jaded me, but I don't think Galaxy Land is the greatest. It's pretty cool for an indoor amusement park and the Mindbender is definitely appropriately named, but I've been to better. The nice thing about Galaxy Land is that there is a lot of room for you to just stroll through and it's never very busy so you can enjoy the sights of people screaming and their hair flying as they try to act brave on all the scary rides. It's a good time. I think Galaxy Land is a cool place. It's not the best amusement park I've been to but it's decent. read more

Amusement park in a mall!!! This place has a lot to offer from kids' rides - bumper cars, ferris wheel, etc to adult rides - roller coaster, drop zone, 7D simulator and wall climbing. As a day pass holder, we spent almost a day in the park. We can go in and out to get food since the food court is right beside the park. Friendly staff and great place to spend time with family and friends. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the time we visited the park, there were several area that are under construction which is an eye sore for me but other than that, this place is awesome! read more

have never seen a theme park in a mall in my life! what a fun experience. the rides are legit and safe, and the set up of the entire park is wonderful!! it's a great environment for kids and the prices aren't bad. During the weekday you can pay 25$ to get in and ride everything! my favorite ride has got to be the underwater sea adventure sit down motion ride that takes you through a ride in which you need to shoot targets to earn points. It doesn't get much better than Galaxyland if you're just in the mood to have some fun!! It is something like the world's largest indoor amusement park (although don't quote me on that!), with some pretty cool rides that will keep your heart beating at a rapid pace! I've done the swing ride, the Mindbender rollercoaster, the mini coaster, and more recently the Space Shot, and they were all pretty intense! Mind you, I'm kind've a p*ssy! There are plenty of other rides other than the ones I've named, including some more subtle ones (like the bumper cars), as well as a large arcade area, all located right in the middle of West Edmonton Mall. There's even a food court right next door in case you get hungry...I recommend you eat AFTER Galaxyland though! #yeglove read more

Galaxy Land is the worlds largest located inside West Edmonton Mall. In fact it contains many of the worlds "largest" titles. It has the worlds longest and tallest indoor roller coaster and the worlds tallest indoor tower ride. It has many rides and games for kids and adults. It is a great attraction at the mall and a fun way to spend the day. It's especially great if you have kids with you when you go shopping. You can set them up at Galaxy land and let them avoid the boring event of shopping. I hated shopping with my parents so much when I was a kid and galaxy land (known as fantasy land back then) was a life saver. read more

An indoor theme park inside a mall is a pretty cool idea. If you're in town and you want to see something you've never seen before (and probably never will anywhere else) you should make one trip, at least. You have roller coasters to ride, carni games to play, and cotton candy to eat! I've been an Edmontonian for many years. I remember this place from "back in the day" when, even back then, it was old as dirt! There are many renovations that have made the park look nice. Things have also gotten a lot more expensive. I've ridden just about every ride, but it's lost it's thrill. Maybe that's just the nature of an amusement park -- you go a few times until it's not as much fun anymore and stop. Unfortunately I've kept going from time to time and it gets even less enjoyable each time. I wish I could say the opposite. I understand the fact that a new ride every visit just isn't plausible, but every so often would be nice... Expanding outward would also make it an amazing new experience all over again. In the end, I'm too old for amusement parks. Maybe when I have kids I can take them and it will all be new again. I look forward to that someday... read more

I haven' visited Galaxyland probably in 2 or 3 years but I still get amazed about the way the rides are build, this park was extremely well thought and designed.This is the largest indoor amusement park in North America, with more that 25 rides and attractions. I'll mention few of the rides that I tried as I had so much fun: *The Mindbender that is the world's largest indoor triple loop roller coaster. *The galaxy orbiter, that is a steel spinning roller coaster. *The Ropes Quest, a zipline area with lots of rope, essentially it is a Multi-Level Rope Course, you have to wear a harness and are clipped in the whole time. You can pick and choose your obstacles so you can skip one if you don't feel like trying. *Autosled, it is an small roller coaster, Ideal for those who are not ready for the mindbender or the galaxy orbiter but want to try some speed. *Swing Of The Century, this one was my favorite! Flying chairs that move in a circular swinging motion. Just to recap coming to Galaxyland was a great way to spend my Sunday morning! read more

This indoor amusement park is definitely amusing. It is jam packed with rides that twist and turn over each other. The up side is they have used every square inch, the downside is, it's very claustrophobic and assaults your senses with chaos. We enjoyed our time at the park in spite of the anarchy. Some advice- save the mind bender coaster until last. You may enjoy the lasting affects of a headache after this jerky coaster and it may put a damper on the rest of your visit. Don't miss the Galaxy Quest ride under the Mind Bender coaster. This was our families favorite ride! Super fun interactive 3 D ride. Enjoy all 4 versions! We had a great time. However, if you have already been to the mall of America's indoor amusement park, this is a disappointment. It just isn't very well laid out and there are a fewer rides for adults and older kids. Horrible experience having a birthday party here! I payed to book a party room in Galaxy land for 2 hours for my daughters birthday. I already knew my way around the park since I had visited a couple months ago and I had a map on hand. Still we had a hard time finding our party room and ended up asking at least 4 different staff members we came across where to go? We found it eventually...we had to walk through a gate right in front of the path of the train and hop over to the middle island, walk up the stairs and there it is. Once you get into the room it was pretty cool though. We had a couple windows that viewed the park from a birds eye view, yet it was quiet in there once you shut the door, and there was an air conditoner going which was great. We had a sink & counter as well as 2 large picnic sized tables with benches and lots of space for my 20 guests. When it came time to buy our ride passes (which I was supposed to get a deal of $20. a pass) it was confusing how the lady at guest services handled all of us. There was no refunds or add ons allowed after we purchased our passes. We counted as best we could how many of us were buying a pass and we were all paying seperate to add to the confusion. The lady then gave us all a stamp, then she had our wrist passes to hand out. It turned out she was missing a pass. She blamed it on me and said you gave me the wrong number of people and if you want one more pass you have to now pay full price since there are no add ons allowed. I was mad now, I had spent $100's of dollars here on this party and it wasn't as if I left and came back 10 minutes later wanting to add on another pass. We were all still standing there and she had given us all a stamp, she had screwed up and wrote down the wrong number or something. I was treated horrible and ended up having to pay full price for my pass! Not to mention it was so busy on the day we went (sunday) and was hard to keep track of my two kids alone as well as all my other guests (adults) that I was there with. On top of this the one ride I wanted to go on (the mindbender) was not in service it turned out. Almost every other ride had approx. 30mintue wait. read more

Our first visit there. We just happened to get there at twilight hour, where it is a discount because it's close to closing. It was 6p and it closes at 9p, we still had 3 hours left. We bought general admission for our 3 kids. They had a blast. My 4yo was able to ride over half of the rides with his 12yo brothers accompaniment. They all LOVED IT!! The galaxy kids area is huge. My kids would have been happy just staying in that area. Overall, we'd come back if we were ever in the area agin. read more

I just found out that kids under two and their chaperone can ride the rides and go in the play area for free! Totally worth the trip to WEM! The ride selection was limited for someone 35" tall. We did the Motojump, balloon feris wheel, spinning cups, merry-go-round, train, and play area. The staff were very patient and good with the toddlers. The train ride could be updated...the alien/space theme doesn't really fit in with what I saw of the park. Consider redoing the mascot and theme. Also, on that note...please add a rocketship ride!! read more

Very annoying that the on line calendar of their hours is inaccurate. Drove all the way there from north east Edmonton with 7 noisy kids in tow only to find out that the public hours as indicated on the web site were not updated to indicate a private event on a Saturday. Always have to pick up a telephone machine and ask I guess. The kid at the ticket window said he has no control of that. Hmmm They should be more competent than that I think. read more

I am strictly rating the kids play place. After going there today with my daughter I felt compelled to write this. The cleaniness of this facility is HORRIBLE!! I saw dust bunnies the size of my fist in some spots. I also witnessed urine bubbling from the bouncy area. After telling staff about it they wiped it with a rag and et kids go back in. I am just so disappointed because the playplace is SO FUN for children that it's a shame they have no cleaning standards at all. I sure hope they clean it up...and if they do I would defiantly give this place 5 stars for children!!! read more
