I love mini golf! But I don't play much except on vacation. We checked out Monster Mini Golf on a weekday afternoon shortly after they opened and there were a few groups playing but it wasn't busy and we didn't feel rushed during our visit. The guy working is probably the one running the place and he has lots of energy and makes it fun. He gave us our putters and balls and came out on the 3rd hole to give us a challenge for the next hole. He also played the Chicken dance song and those dancing got tickets to redeem for prizes. I think he gave tickets to everyone but I didn't mind doing the chicken dance! The music played during our visit was a mix of fun tunes to dance to from the 70s to 90s. He even through in a KISS song in the midst of YMCA, and Grease Lightning. The atmosphere and decor is fun and cool. Monsters, funky wall art, and props on the course to make it challenging and fun. On the score card it says 5 strokes maximum to keep the game moving, which I could see if it was busy, but we were able to play until we got the ball in the hole. The group in front of us were large and taking their time so I didn't mind playing at a leisurely pace. At the end of the game, the loser gets a card for a free game. There's a display of the toys you can get for redeeming the tickets. There's also an arcade and I'm guessing the games also spit out tickets. They have party rooms and would be great for kids' birthdays or office events too! Glad there's a great place for mini golf in Edmonton. They had a deal if you check in on Yelp and like them on Facebook, you get $2 off. Not sure if it still applies but they have a Groupon so go check it out! If you get a Groupon for 4 games and there's only 2 of you, they will give you a coupon for the other 2 games to use another time.

First timers usually get a free ticket to admit one for the next visit - in my case anyways. I've been here three times & it's good fun. And... You get to be a kid again!!! Yay!!! Ok, it's a place full of adults with children and definitely a great place for kids. They seem to love it here. As long as you wait till the groups in front of you have moved on to 2 holes ahead of you - you will have better fun playing golf instead of goofing around while waiting. Just be aware that some people behind you on occasion would play so damn fast that they stand around waiting for you to hit your next hole. Believe me. Relax. Don't feel rushed because if they can't wait, they can always hop themselves right to the empty space far ahead and finish up for the day. I personally get bored really fast, hence I wouldn't come back here on a regular basis but rather on an occasional basis. This place is definitely great for entertaining kids. :)

I can't remember having a better time at a mini golf course. Apart from the fact this place makes me feel like a kid again, I was genuinely spooked when a tree moved while passing by it. The course is challenging and fun. The monster theme is pretty amusing and would probably get a desired effect out of little kids. The final clown is pretty creepy though!!! And if you have the right people, there is a ton of merriment to be experience. $11 per person is what we paid. Got about an hour out of it. Definitely don't think I could do this more than once every 6 months. However, I think it is an awesome date spot! Just be sure you don't whack the ball hard enough to cause injury to anybody ;) No full body contact, play safe! There is also a small arcade inside which could be old school fun!

This was my favorite monster! I woke him up! :0)

My boyfriend wanted to do something fun earlier this week so we went to Monster Mini Golf. I've played miniature golf outside before but I never liked playing it in the hot sun. Playing indoors was pretty cool because almost everything- monster themed- glowed under a black light. I believe there were 18 or 19 holes. There was decent early 1990s music being played too. I was having fun until I realized there was a group that had caught up to us and soon we had even caught up with another group. Having to wait a while to take our turns took some of the fun out of it, but I guess it gets busy on Sundays. Still, Monster Mini Golf is fun! The staff was pleasant and up beat. We even got a coupon to come back and play a free round of golf!

First off the staff was so friendly! The place glows and has a cool retro halloween style look. We really enjoyed the holes of mini golf and will certainly be back. The games were alot of fun, only thing I can say is the prizes for the tickets aren't very good but we were there for the fun not the prizes.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The reason that I'm not giving 5 star to them is because the venue didn't have a proper setup for work events. Projector was not bright enough. Lighting was very poor and we could not even read any of our notes. I believe this could be fixed easily if they would like to attract businesses to use this facility for their event and I hope next time I go there I see some improvements. If you go there for personal and family fun day, you'll probably enjoy your experience and will have fun! For those activities I actually recommend them! :)

They have pool tables, some arcade games, bowling, Lazer tag, billiards/pool, and a lounge. The lounge has events such as comedy or sports game nights, and it always ends up being a great time. Each time I have been there, the servers in the lounge have been great with checking up with you to see if they can assist with anything. Keep in mind if you want to go here with a group, it is best to book in advance, because this is a fairly busy location. That being said, each time i have gone here with one or two people, I haven't had to wait long at all. One side note; as this is a fairly busy place, the pool tables have had a lot of use and are not in the best of shape, and some are straight up in need of repair. However, if you are looking for fun, Gateway Entertainment has that for sure. As mentioned above, I have been here many times, and will most likely continue, as it is always a fun time.

I know one poster said it was very hot inside but when I went it was the opposite. So who knows what you may get. The idea is good, separate room for kids to play, a couple of bouncy things and a mini golf, but unfortunately the end result really sucks. The mini golf needs major renovations, I almost tripped at one point on a piece of broken carpet. It's also very dirty. This makes the one at WEM look like Pebble Beach! The stars are just for the big and adequate room for doing the birthday cake and presents. It's great for maybe 3-5 years old I guess, who are easily entertained and can run around. But will get very boring for any kids older. There are better places to have a birthday, unless they do a major renovation and cleaning of the place, then maybe it has potential. Lastly, if you want to feel like what it is to drive on the moon. Look no further than the parking lot coming in. It's pot hole city!

As for the Sportsdome these days the only reason I have been there was for a bicycle swap event and a few times for Roller Derby. It has 2 big indoor rinks and the E-Ville Roller Derby Club uses one for their bouts. If you haven't been to Roller Derby you should at least check it out once. See my review of E-Ville Roller Derby for more info. The rink makes a great flat track for derby bouts. The facility also has a children's play area, mini-golf, and a bar. I have never had the reason or inclination to use the other areas so I can't comment on them much. Overall the facility seems a bit run down, dreary, and dated. I suppose it fulfills its purpose if it is being used but I only see it during Roller Derby bouts so it is quite empty except for that. I miss the indoor Golfdome : (

We decided to check it out because we have the free passes from West Edmonton Mall's Christmas promotion. Others had the same idea to wait until the last day as there was a line up. The guy working there was friendly and gave us putters and told us to pick out a ball. We wanted to give some space between us at the father/daughter in front of us so we waited before we started. The course is boring after a few holes and each hole is a par 3 except the last one. The obstacles are repeated throughout (no sandtraps and level playing) and it's not very challenging for adults and likely more fun for younger children. We didn't catch up to the people in front of us until we reach one hole, but after they moved ahead quickly. I had hoped to go back a second time and take pictures but I did not plan accordingly. It is pretty fast though and may not be something everyone would consider to be a good value. Now that I am home I have found myself googling other mirror mazes as I was hoping to repeat the experience, but sadly there are none that I could find. The mini golf starts with a video about the story and the purpose of your mini golf experience which is to save dragon eggs. I never did figure out how the scoring correlated to the amount of dragon eggs saved, but it still made for a fun time. The course has lights! It's a beautifully treed haven is just a stone's throw away from Saskatchewan Dr and 109 St. Loaded with birds and squirrels, it's pretty tough to tell you are in the city. Edmonton's River Valley is such a wonderful gem. We played 9 holes... takes about an hour, (if you play with me be prepared - it's going to be 90 minutes) but there ARE 18 well groomed and manicured holes nestled on the slope. I found the rough to be adequate and the greens were nicely compact. Yes, there were some holes in the greens, but I attribute that to folks not knowing how to repair the damage. We fixed the worst we found. I don't golf... and I managed less than 8 strokes on every hole . Almost made par on two! Great variety of distances on the greens for every skill level. My partner well overshot one hole, but thankfully there are well crafted hops, slopes and fences to contain the mayhem. I even got a double bank off a tree that put me back on the fairway! Yeehaw! There is parking near the clubhouse, so you don't have to walk up from the Kinsmen fitness centre if you don't want to (or can't). There are bike racks and a few picnic tables at the clubhouse. The clubhouse is outfitted with solar panels and a solar water heater. Way to green!! The clubhouse also has a nice selection of snacks, freezies, pop, chips and mosquito spray. You might want to bring some but they have some to buy if you forget. There are two gender neutral washrooms, a big garage door to open up one side when the weather is nice. Green fees are reasonable considering the cost of a movie these days, and it doesn't seem like the prices have gone up in YEARS! $16 for 9 holes, $20 for 18, & club rental $3/club, putter and iron minimum. Seems fair for an afternoon out. Can't imagine maintenance is any less for a little course as a bigger one. Each hole has an artificial turf tee box, and leaning bench to put or lean your behind or clubs on so they don't get all gummy in the morning dew. Was well laid out to flow from one green to the next tee box. I do see the point George makes about there being some near proximity for tees towards other players on other holes. If it's not as busy (mornings we were told) I think that works for us. Next time I'll bring some kind of bag to keep all my stuff together. Maybe a strap to hook my clubs on the bench when they aren't being used. Didn't spot a ball washer on the course, only at the clubhouse... but maybe we missed them? They told us they usually close Sept 30th after free facilities day, but they are going to see if they can stay open until Thanksgiving-or the first couple weeks of October. I can't believe it took me 12 years to come. I think this is going to be one of our new date destinations.
