You don't expect him to be a property management broker. Darus is always on the ground addressing tenant and landlord concerns with a lot of compassion while remaining fair to everyone involved. Real Property is one of the more exclusive PM companies in Humboldt, so they're not trying to add just any crap property to their inventory. It's rare to find a truly ethical property management company to work with. I would strongly recommend Real Property for either prospective tenants or landlords looking to hand off the headache of management. They have a lot of cool online tools for rental applications, screening, and rental payment, too!

Be mindful that when dealing with these folks that they have super high turn-over and the right hand often knows little of what the left hand is doing. After noticing for most of the year of 2023 that PCR was no longer collecting utilities from two of my tenants, I brought it to their attention in a sit down meeting that I requested and in that meeting both women refused to acknowledge any missing money. They actually even told me in that sit down that I was too involved as a landlord and needed to let them do their job. It was clear they were not doing the job that they were collecting their property management fees to do. After months and months of noticing continued missing money, by the end of 2023 they finally acknowledged they had in fact not been collecting many months of utilities and with no apology for it or for telling me I had been too involved, they stated they would collect back utilities. Now think about that a minute. Reading an owner statement isn't hard (although the way Deborah collects payment from tenants is incredibly unorganized and this is partially because she pays landlord's utilities late as I learned after seeing twice that my building got a 15 day late notification for PG&E and she also pays for utilities for tenants out of her pocket but charges the landlord incorrectly for it) so it definitely gets confusing to landlords, tenants and I am sure to the gal that runs the front office that always desperately tried to answer my questions as to where my missing money was. So as simple as it was to see that utilities were missing on my statements every month, PCRs would insist it was correct and yet in the month of February 2024 PCRs admitted they had missed almost a year of collecting utilities on one of my tenants and I received most of that back payment and they admitted they had also missed utilities on the other tenant and did a terrible job collecting that tenants back utilities and that tenant moved out still owing and I paid the price. The communication with PCRs was terrible, I made MANY requests in writing to provide the tenants with internet before I called and set this up myself. I asked in writing more than 4 times if PCRs could provide lawn care for my building and later learned Deborah sent her grandson over to mow once and didn't tell me it was her grandson until I inquired as to why I saw a lawn care charge but a professional receipt was not attached to my owner statement. I then also took over lawn care and have had a professional service set up ever since. All things I believe are the services that should be provided for the property management fees we pay. I could honestly go on but that alone is enough for me. Elizabeth Campbell and Deborah Smith are a joke and I can't express enough what terrible hands anyone would be in to go in to business with these two. Elizabeth was so promising when I first met her and I had really trusted her and my realtor had recommended her and I can honestly say she's gone down hill as a business owner and getting rid of staff that can't do their job would be the best advice I could give her. Elizabeth there's likely a good reason you have a two star review and I hope the way you handle business and your poor money management doesn't catch up to you. You definitely come across as a snake.

The gentlemen showing the house had very little information other than what he had done to the place, but he was very nice and easy to talk to. The actual rental agent for the company, Maridee, is another story. She had been rude to me and my fellow roommate applicants the entire time we tried working with her. She made insulting comments, showed impatience and was anything but professional. I come from a customer service background of 10+ years and I was insulted by the attitude I was receiving while I stayed calm and cheery on my end. We were denied by this company and I feel like it was due to an age-ist attitude, thinking because we are in our 20's we can not take proper care of a property. I hope they get the tenants they think are the better fit and are surprised a few months down the road to find a grow in the garage. I'm taking my business elsewhere where people respect hard working and honest tenants and do not judge us by our age.

Doing both property management and real estate most likely leads to neglect of one or both of those tasks. I experienced failure of her fiduciary duties as the Broker during the sale of my home. Most Property Management and Realtor companies don't mix the 2 buckets because it may lower the quality and value of their work and may damage their reputation. April Wolfe failed to perform in the following areas of the sale from monitoring critical dates to remove disclosure contingencies to simply not forwarding my email containing the-sewer lateral certificate over to other realtor, so I did it. Her failure to perform resulted in a lost cash backup offer for a greater amount and a very short escrow. The worst and final straw was when she admitted to reading the flawed amendment where I, the seller was to finance my own property with a $400K loan. My husband and I had to write our own amended contract and deal directly with the other realtor to meet deadlines to close escrow. Like she said and the sign on her desk displays 'I'm Busy' April Wolfe was too busy with her 4 other property management tasks that took priority instead of writing the final amendment in a timely manner. After I asked to cancel the contract for failure to perform 1 month before closing she refused to release me. She received almost $17K for conducting low to no quality work as evidenced above. April had no negotiation skills or strategy and admitted to leaving the Odell offer in her inbox 24 hours before she noticed. I experienced unprecedented levels of stress which resulted in multiple sleepless nights, causing boils break outs on my lips, and other problems. Sellers beware she is the sole Broker so when things go sideways you are stuck.
