Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Service Manager Mike and Unfair Loaner Vehicle Charges To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with Service Manager Mike at Land Rover Troy. I have been a loyal Land Rover customer for over 10 years, and this was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever received. Initially, I did not want to bring my vehicle to your dealership because of the high repair costs and my past experiences of never being offered a loaner vehicle. However, on Wednesday and Thursday, Mike repeatedly contacted me by text, encouraging me to bring my vehicle in for service and assuring me that a loaner vehicle would be available if I came on Friday. Based on his repeated requests and assurances, I rearranged my schedule and drove from Detroit to Troy during heavy Friday traffic. When I arrived, Mike immediately presented me with approximately $3,500 worth of recommended repairs. I declined those repairs and authorized only an oil change. After I declined the additional work, his attitude shifted noticeably and unprofessionally, making it clear that his earlier willingness to assist was conditional and insincere. Before dropping off my vehicle, I clearly explained that I work in Detroit and would not be available until after 6:00 p.m. because of work obligations and family plans that had been scheduled months in advance. Mike assured me that would not be a problem. Later that evening, after I called to let him know I was on my way, Mike informed me that the dealership would already be closed and that I would not be able to retrieve my own vehicle. This directly contradicted what he had previously assured me. I immediately offered to return the loaner that same night around 11:00 p.m. if my vehicle could simply be left outside for me. Your dealership has drop boxes and regularly leaves vehicles out for customers, especially for drop-and-go situations, so there was no legitimate reason for refusing this request. Mike refused without justification. I then offered to return the loaner Saturday morning, but he informed me the dealership would be closed and I still could not retrieve my vehicle. Instead, Mike specifically instructed me to "just keep it until Monday." At no point did he disclose that following his instructions would result in hundreds of dollars in rental charges. His failure to communicate this critical information was not only negligent but entirely unacceptable. I reasonably believed that keeping the loaner vehicle for a few additional hours--or even over the weekend under these circumstances--would not be an issue. Mike never revealed that I was expected to return the vehicle immediately that same evening, nor did he provide any alternative solution. After working all day, driving through heavy Friday traffic from Detroit to Troy, and being denied access to my own vehicle due to the dealership's closure, I was left with no reasonable option other than to follow his explicit instructions. It is completely unreasonable and unacceptable that Land Rover Troy would deny me access to my own vehicle, instruct me to keep the loaner until Monday, and then attempt to charge me approximately $300 for doing exactly what I was told to do. This situation is the direct result of Mike's poor judgment, lack of transparency, and failure to properly manage the situation. If I had been informed of any such charges, I would never have agreed to bring my vehicle in that Friday. I could have easily secured a rental elsewhere for significantly less. I also made multiple good-faith attempts to return the loaner well before Monday. I offered to return it Friday night and again Saturday morning. However, because my vehicle was locked inside your dealership and inaccessible to me, I was effectively prevented from doing so. I still had work and personal obligations to meet, and your dealership's actions left me with no alternative. Several days later, I was shocked to discover that I had been charged approximately $300 for four days of loaner use. These charges are entirely unjustified because: Mike repeatedly pressured me to bring my vehicle in after I had already decided not to. I made multiple attempts to return the loaner. I made multiple attempts to retrieve my own vehicle. The dealership's closure made it impossible for me to exchange vehicles. Mike explicitly instructed me to keep the loaner until Monday. At no point did he disclose that I would be charged for following his instructions. Even if any charge were somehow considered appropriate, charging me for four days is excessive and indefensible, especially when at least one of those days occurred solely I had at 24 hout window to return loaner my 250 oil change for the my truck getting repaired I was also extremely disappointed by Mike's conduct throughout this experience. Customer service in parts department is a joke! I ordered new mats for my car ($600). Service person looked up my vin # on his computer and ordered. Mats were sent to my home. They were the wrong mats. I returned them to service dept to swap them out for correct mats and was later told without the original box, there was nothing they could do! What??????? Im not even asking for a refund, just to exchange them for the proper mats!! They will not refund nor exhange!!!!! Simply ridiculous. No more Rangerovers (at least from this location) in my future. Found out my wife's transmission on her car would need to be repaired on a Thursday, 8 days ago. We were in urgent need of a replacement and Land Rover had one on the pre-owned lot that was what we were looking for. A '22 with low miles. Went there Monday, 5 days ago, into the south entrance, looked into the nearest car in the showroom. Walked the whole showroom to another car by the north doors. Saw about 3-4 potential other customers, there were a couple salesmen with their heads down, probably on their phones. I checked out that car - no movement from any staff. Walked the entire showroom back to the south doors and nobody said a thing. Maybe I wasn't dressed well enough for Land Rover, the oldest trick is to dress down for auto negotiations. Maybe I wasn't the right demographic? That's more concerning than being pre-qualified$. Who knows. I left and told my wife the last 5 minutes were wasted and Land Rover Troy wasn't getting my business. Went to Suburban Toyota-same pre-owned make & model similar age and mileage and made a deal that night at closing time. read more

I got a Defender which is my dream car, my sales person Steven explained everything to me an even took me on a fun test drive, they told me what to expect and introduced me to the service department and gave me a tour around the dealership. it was perfect. totally recommend read more

Called my car into service for a low coolant engine notification got my vehicle back three days later same notification now the car stays on high RPMs called to schedule a pick up never showed up called again to schedule a pick up with valet service and they accidentally booked it as a drop off multiple calls to get one small thing fixed and we never received calls back worst communication I've ever experienced this will not be my dealer for the new Range Rover read more

This was the worst customer service and communication I have ever received in my life. Got to listen to two angry customers due to being charged too much and not communicating with them. Also a part delivery man was so angry at the sales manager as he walked by me he said run!!! These guys are crooks and other names I will not mention. My visit with Don yesterday was very very uncomfortable, felt like he was lying through his teeth. I am buying my wife a new car and was considering trading in her Land Rover Discovery Sport for the Range Rover Discovery but my recent HORRIBLE experience with your service department had me order her a new Ford Bronco. I dropped off the Vehicle on a Tuesday and it was supposed to be complete on the following Friday. At 4 PM I called and left a message with my "Service Representative", Mark Anderson and received no response. The following Monday I left a message with the "Director of Service" Brandon Vidaurri, who also refused to return my call. The next day I called and left a message with your "General Manager", who also did not return my call. I finally receive a call from Anderson that repairs are done, and they agree to drop it off at Cranbrook since I was out of town. Later my wife calls, excited thinking I bought her a new car. It seems there was an issue with my vehicle so the dropped off a loaner. At 4PM I call and leave a message with Anderson as to why they didn't bring my wife's car back. As Usual, NO CALL BACK. The next day I get a call from the person trying to swap out the loaner for our car. NO returned call from ANYONE with an explanation or apology for the inconvenience. On Friday my wife comments that her counsel looks damaged. I looked and saw that the trim piece around the prindle had been improperly glued in place and that the solvent used to clean the mess from trying to improperly fasten it in place had destroyed the trim piece. I called and left another message with Anderson as to the issue. NO RESPONSE. On Monday I email Vidaurri along with photos and he responds that I can bring it in. I let him know I can bring it in Thursday but would need a loaner. NO RESPONSE. On Thursday I go to drop my car off at the dealer but none of the "Service Personnel know about it. They contact Vidaurri who tells them he had planned the loaner for the following Thursday and that he emailed me to that effect. That was not true. Mind you that I have yet to receive a return call from Vidaurri or your General Manager from the messages the prior week. When I asked why the GM won't return my calls, I was told he was on vacation. The following Thursday I drop of my vehicle and pick up the loaner. No one from the Service Department contacts me for 6 days. On Wednesday I leave a message for a status update on my vehicle and again do not receive a return call. Thursday, Armstrong calls me at 11 AM to let me know my vehicle is ready. I go and exchange the vehicle and the repair was done properly. After ALL of this, NOT ONE RETURN CALL from the GM or Vidaurri. NOT AND EXPLANATION. NOT AN APPOLOGY. NOT A SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENIENCE. I have never seen a more poorly run business. You have tarnished a brand I used to respect. read more
