If you need to take your car to a place where the mechanic is honest, caring, professional and kind, take it over here. Just to give you an example: I have taken my car here for the past 5 years after a friend recommended Lam's garage. I have told Angel, the mechanic/owner, "I think my car needs new brakes." He checked them and said: "No, you don't need new brakes." Another time I said: "Angel, I need a tune up." No, your car is running great. Let's wait for another 10,000 miles and we will change the spark plugs." If I say those things to another mechanic, he would replace them immediately and charge me for labor. One time my Nissan Rogue was leaking water, I took it to Angel and he confirmed that the water pump had broken. He put a new one and charge what he thought he had to charge me. After I left Lam's garage, I called the Nissan dealer where I had taken my car several times in the past and I asked them for an estimate to replace the water pump. I was in shock when they told me an amount that was triple of what Angel had just charged for. Every time I can I recommend Lam's garage to friends and they are all happy. I drive two hours to get there because I live in Ventura County; however, I feel happy and respected every time my car needs service. Just to recap, I have been a car owner for the past 42 years and I have never known a mechanic like Angel. God Bless him. read more

I was in need of an oil change that was over due for over two weeks, but found it difficult to make time to get one due to my work schedule. Since most car shops don't open until around 8am, I desperately searched for one that was open earlier and had good reviews. I'm so glad I took my car to Lam's Garage! I have been to this place for twice already, both for oil change. I was ok with them at first time, and Daniel is a good guy. I really don't want to give 3 stars, but I have to. Let's talk about the service. 1. One day before I went to the garage, someone gave me the price on the phone, which was the same as last time (very decent price), but when I arrived that day, the price was increased (told by another person). Well, the price itself was acceptable even after the increase, but customer will not be feeling good for the inconsistency. 2. Oil change. #1 visit (last time), I brought in 6 gallons, but they only poured 5 gallons as I found one of the one-gallon bottles was not even opened. This time (#2 visit), I explicitly told them to fill all the oil, so they did it. But, the o-ring of the filter was not replaced without my being told, until I found that it still sit in the filter box. When I called them later to ask why not, someone told me that my old o-ring was better than the new one (well, he didn't know that the new and the old filters were the same brand same model), and he even challenged me why I made it a big deal. I am not making it a big deal, but when you provide a service, honesty and care are really big deal. I don't see a reason to re-visit this garage after my two experiences in the "simple" oil change. read more

So disappointed in the customer service of this business. Got recommended to Lam's from our normal place because we closer to the city at first seemed nice when I called with questions about my car and was told to drop my car off the next day that it would take time to diagnose because of its make. No problem. Dropped my car off with my husband at 8:30am got a call a few hours later about the problem and that they ordered the part etc cool awesome that was fast. Was told to expect a call around noon no call so okay it's going to take longer at this point my husband is now at work and I have to pick my child up from school. After school pick up my husband calls to me tell me they called him. I give them a call and was directed to Angel here comes the problems. He rudely told me to come get my car it's done. I told him I can't pick it up till tomorrow early in the morning. I'm alone with my daughter and have no way to get there and if I drive I can't drive two cars back alone. He then tells me to figure it out that he's not going to be responsible for my car that it's going to be left on the street. I tell him sir I can't get down there I'm alone with my daughter my husband is at work it's now 3 hours past the time you told us to expect a call we assumed you would need more time and store it overnight if you are getting the job done so close to closing. He RUDELY again told me to figure it out it's not his problem and my car isn't going to be his problem. (His tone not nice not how you speak to people) Cool thanks you're a big help. I immediately call an Uber and get me and my child out there before closing time (mind you I'm pregnant and hauling me and my 5 year old in an Uber in traffic to rush there). We get there at 3:40 (I know I paid for the Uber and the driver even noted how it was weird that a mechanic would be closed so early on a Tuesday) shop was closed! Hmm weird since they close at 4 and he JUST gave me all that grief about coming to pick up my car. We sit waiting thinking great I just got me and my child out here now stuck because we're in an Uber and the shop is closed. My car parked in front of the shop "The street". What do I do my Uber drive thank god for him drove around back where we find an open door. I go to see if someone is inside. I scared an older man who was talking to someone else and he's like we're closed. No sh** I can see that I explain that I just rushed over here and why would you close early if I was told to come get the car. "I don't know check the mailbox for your keys" not even a hold on let me check to see if he left your keys for you sorry for the miscommunication nothing just dumb faced rude and it's not my problem attitude. He then gives me angels "pocket phone" number which is a number that is not in service. This person was absolutely no help what so ever and said they don't have a phone in anyway to contact anyone. How are you a grown ass man without a simple cell phone? It's 2021! So no help what so ever. at this point my child is upset wondering why we can't get our car sitting with the Uber because thank god for him he refused to leave us stranded. He offered to take us back home because he didn't want to leave a woman and child alone with someone who is no help at all. Here comes Wednesday call early to inform them we will be on our way no answer. At this point my husband goes in because I'm PISSED I want to go off but he's more level headed and doesn't want to cause a problem. He goes in asked what was the deal what happened. "Oh she came at 3:50 someone told me" alright we'll we didn't I got there at 3:40 but still 3:50 still had 10mins till closing and I'm sorry as a courtesy if you are telling someone to come get there car figure it out etc at least wait 10 extra minutes for them after closing not close 20mins early or even earlier they were completely closed when I got there. So okay try and put the blame on me. "I told her we close at 4" we'll sit it was still not closing time. So I wasted almost $50 on an Uber my time and energy for someone who DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE. So FU***** RUDE DISRESPECTFUL UNPROFESSIONAL. The fact that I didn't even get a sorry duh fcuk dude really. For the amount of e paid for the service I'm SO DISAPPOINTED in this place. Will be telling the person who recommended them about the service and they will be getting reviewed on Google too. Not cool dude. You're not even the owner have some respect for your place of work. read more

My bf and his family have been going to this location forever. My maintenance light came on so I went to get an oil change. I just moved closer to downtown LA and needed to find a new oil change location. The place is pretty discreet and in a rather discreet location. It's easy to get to due to the lack of traffic. I didn't see the service since we were racing back and forth from errand to errand. The whole oil change was $25. Straightforward and I noticed Asian places don't try and sell me anything else. I have been coming to Lam's Garage for years. First with Toyota Corolla and now with my RAV4. Lam's guys, are friendly and easy going. Most recently, I made an appointment to come in last Thursday for an oil change and I notice the night before my front light and rear brake lights were out and asked, Angel to check it out. I was called to pick up my car, and upon arriving Angel told me that the front line had simple disconnected and he had replaced the rear break light. Lam's guys are super and transparent. They could have charge me for simply checking, like other places do but they didn't. I always recommend them to my friends. Thanks guys! read more

I knew the store owner - Daniel for 26 years, and he hired a Vietnamese Jeff as the previous manager at that time, the previous manager did a lot of good working for the customer, but then, after Jeff resigned, the store hire a new manager ( the \photo middle) i took my Toyota to the change the break on the beginning of July, and i was told the brake pad was original from Toyota, after the changed, it has noise when driving and brake, i took to my house nearest auto shop, the mechanic mentioned this is not the original Toyota break pad, this is the cheap pad from the outside street store, I called to the owner and directly talked to the owner - Daniel, and let him know, you are kicking the customer out of the business, i will never come back again to this store unless you change the staffs! read more

Lam's Garage did a bad job on a simple oil change and now my car engine is damaged. I went in to get an oil change before a road trip. Less than 100 miles into the trip, the oil light came on and the engine started making loud knocking noises. Luckily we were near Victorville and got off the freeway immediately, and were able to find a AAA certified auto shop. They diagnosed a leak in the oil filter seal, showed me my undercarriage covered in an oil slick, and told me I was lucky I stopped driving at the first sign of trouble. The oil level was down to 1/3 and almost pitch black in color and had metal particles in it, which is an indication of engine damage from bearings and other parts getting worn down. Took the car to back to Lam's and they immediately were defensive and denied they caused any engine damage, and refused to even do a real inspection. A technician named Angel only turned it on and listened to the sound, and said to us "Does this sound like a damaged engine?" We agree there is no further knocking noise, but the engine is definitely not performing the way it did before the faulty oil change at Lam's. It is slow on take off and struggles up steep inclines, not able to get past 60 mph on inclines, which can be very scary. Even more scary is Lam's refusal to take responsibility. We now have to seek other avenues of redress. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs -- it is not worth saving a few bucks on the oil change, if it can possibly turn out the way it did for us. read more

Absolutely the worst service in the history of mechanics that I've used since Angel started working there. I dealt with Daniel and Jeff years ago when I was in high school/college and recently came back to have work done by Angel. The prior were decent and fair, Angel is an incompetent, rude, liar. Says he did work when nothing was fixed and broke or even damaged other parts. Kept my 85 Ford there for 6months claiming that he couldn't find the parts to fix a gas leak. Couldn't find parts of the most popular American truck while in America! When I finally brought him another whole gas tank that I found, without being a mechanic myself, and left it for him to replace, he just gave it back two days later saying he didn't need it after all. Come to find he didn't need it because he didn't repair it. Taking this business and that guy to court. Claims he's there till 4pm but usually closes shop by 2:30pm. Angel and his son are scam artists. Should definitely stay clear of this place and not waste time or money on either of these two punks. read more

This place was recommended to me by my uber cheap Chinese uncle, so I knew that it had to be a gem. The exterior leaves much to be desired (small, dilapidated, semi-wack) but the service was great. Oil change cost a mere $25 and I was in and out of the place in less than 15 minutes. Not bad. read more

i went there for an oil change but my car was also leaking some type of fluid. I asked them to look at the leak. When they called me to pick up the car I asked them how will it cost to repair the leak. They said that it was just a loose bolt and there was no charge. If you think about this they could of said anything and charge me anything. Instead they were honest and didn't charge me anything. They actually should of charged me something small and just said it was a minor repair. It it nice to meet some honest people these days. read more

This place really is like your older uncle's rundown garage. The shack-like exterior is not inviting at all, and despite having read the previous favorable reviews, I still had a moment of hesitation when I drove up here on a Friday afternoon. But before I could back out and drive to the closest Jiffy Lube, an older gentleman cheerfully came out to see what I needed. I'm glad I stuck around because I got what must have been the fastest oil change I've ever had. I brought along a book to read during the wait, but didn't even need to since I kept looking up to see what they were doing to my car (the oil change is done outside in the open air, so you get to see everything). The older Chinese man running the place also has pretty good English. He didn't try to sell me anything, but said that my battery needed to be replaced (he's right, I've been putting it off). I'm not sure if they take credit card since I paid with cash. Also, there was no paperwork involved at all if you're used to getting that at other places (see what I mean about an older uncle?) I'd recommend Lam's Garage if you're looking for a no-frills, but still friendly, neighborhood experience. read more

These folks have my business for life. I had my car repaired here under a year ago, for a broken heater core, the part went bad again this weekend. While most places give you a short warranty on parts and labor, Lam's honored their work and parts for a year. They saved me a ton of money, and for that I am eternally grateful. These guys are friendly, efficient and most importantly HONEST. Oh! Their oil changes are really inexpensive too! I highly recommend them, mechanics like Lam's are hard to find these days. read more
