This historical park, nestled in Alpine, Utah, is a must-see! It is rich with pioneer heritage,…read morespecifically honoring the John R. Moyle pioneer family. John walked 22 miles to Salt Lake City and back each week from this location because he was called by Brigham Young, the leader of the mormon pioneers, to work on the Salt Lake City Temple. John carved out the words, "Holiness to the Lord, the House of the Lord" that are still on the temple today. It was after 20 years of doing this that one day, John was home milking his cow when his cow kicked his leg and broke it very badly. He had to have it amputated. He made himself a wooden leg (which you can go and see in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum in SLC) and continued to walk to Salt Lake City to work on the temple. Getting here: Turn up a side street (there are signs in the area for Moyle park), drive north a little and the road will open to a large area with parking, a handcart, a big grassy, pavilion area, the historic Moyle home and Indian protection tower, pioneer farming tools, pioneer games (horse shoes, stick pull and more) and a few historic log cabins that have been moved to this location. There are a lot of plaques you can read. When my husband and I found out that the John R. Moyle home was in Alpine, we knew we had to go visit. We were only expecting to see the house he built for his family, so we were pleasantly surprised to see so many more historical buildings and plaques. The home was closed when we went there. We saw a paper sign on the outside that said almost every Tuesday during the summer they do Pioneer day events here. You can also call 801-830-3502 for tours. We will definitely be back to see the inside of the Moyle home. I hope you will come and visit this historical site!

It's also a fun area to walk around, as there are 2 bridges over the stream, and the Cedar HIlls Parkway Trail runs right through it. It's nothing to be utterly amazed by, but it's a nice park for what it's worth.

Practically had it all to ourselves. What a nice stroll. Sidewalk is clear of snow, except for the bridges. This truly is one of American Fork's best parks. Oh yes, I almost forgot. Yes there was flowing water in the creek. You know, the Dry Creek! And I have no idea why it says "Closed Now" online. Parking lot is open.

They have six pickleball courts that are always in fantastic condition. They also have a couple of tennis courts. The playground itself is super fun. My kids (3, 5, and 8) love climbing on all the different ropes and apparatuses and such as. They also have the little zipline things that you can sit on. Definitely a hit for youngsters and adults alike. In the summer they even have shave ice available for purchase. The Murdock Canal Trail goes right next to the park so you can go on a bike ride or walk right up to the park.

Once you reach the top, the cave tour itself is incredible, the formations are beautiful and the rangers do a great job explaining the history and geology. If you're up for a challenge with a rewarding payoff, this is the perfect adventure!
