Not a good experience with Lamar Locksmith. We had a Mercedes Benz key made by them last summer, and it stopped working in November (due to programming problems) and it stopped working again now in January. They charged us for replacing a new key saying it was outside their 3-month warranty. Why should we have to pay for a new product when their original key was clearly created incorrectly? Their incomplete work already caused us a lot of wasted time getting it fixed. You may be lured into this company for their low prices, but if you have any sort of complex key requiring computer programming, their work is shoddy and the customer has to pay the consequences! read more

They are reasonably priced and prompt, however today they fell short of their commitment. I called them for a duplicate Promaster van key. They said they could do it, and gave me a discounted price. I took the van to them and the person there quoted me $50 more than what was quoted on the phone by a different person. We got this resolved, but they were incapable of duplicating the key..! I wonder if it was their incapacity or they wanted to find a way out as they did not want to honor the discounted price. They are close to my place and I have been there in the past to get duplicate keys for my other car, but this time it did not work and I have to find a better locksmith. read more

for starters they pulled up in an unprofessional work van. Worked on making a new key for my mercedes for 4 hours, just to tell me that he couldn't do it. he asked me to take my ignition with him i declined. they left things purposely unhooked in my vehicle to be spiteful. i wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Unlocked my car. Sketchy bait and switch pricing. Quoted $45 on phone, guy shows up and goes on about how my 17 year old dodge with no alarm has "high security" etc so it should be $150 but he'll do it for $100. Got it done for $80 cash, asked for a receipt, given a blank invoice to fill out what I wanted(what?) Took him 30 seconds(as expected), didn't have to pick the lock or anything(balloon in door + hook). Paid $250 to get my key replaced and over a month later am STILL having issues with the key. What's their suggestion???? Go to CVS. NO REFUND. NO APOLOGY. NO EMPATHY. NO PROFESSIONALISM. Lamar, Amir and the female receptionist (aka Lamar Locksmith) was a company I was referred to BY GEICO. So I thought, they MUST have at the very least, a decent reputation. Got a key, wasn't the right key, and they said they need to order another one, so he would do it and I could pick it up. Go by to pick it up, and surprise, no key ordered. So they tell me they will order it that day and it should take a week and someone will call me. Two weeks later, of course, NO CALL. I instead call them. After a lengthy phone call and listening to the receptionist go back and forth with Lamar, they swear the key will be in Tuesday, and someone WILL call. You all know the drill, NO CALL again, so after I return from my trip a week later I decide to call and the receptionist swears someone called me. Ok let's pretend I believe that, no one leaves a voicemail??? She does however give me a bit of good news and says it's ready. I go get it. They have a bit of trouble programming it, but we get there. I'm happy and thinking I'm done. WRONG. Two days later (today actually; Friday 8/21/15) the key just DIES. Of course they try to say it's everything but them or their product and when that doesn't pan out, switch to becoming verbally combative with me, because IM upset, not realizing that after this whole ordeal I have every reason to be more than upset. Customer service has certainly died here. Although, at this place I'm not sure it was ever born. The woman says she's looking for someone to dispatch to me, Then amir gets on the phone and says I need to come through (even though I've already come there MORE than enough times, and do not want to continue scaring my neighborhood half to death with an alarm that sounds like bloody murder). Clearly in this 3 room house, it's difficult to communicate with each other so they could be able to present a consistent message to their customer every time. His other suggestion, after 250$, a month of back and forth, and a faulty key: 'go to cvs and get another battery.' WOW. Trust me folks, I could be on fire and wouldn't seek their 'services.' They're inconsistent, have bad attitudes, berate their customers in public, and provide faulty products that they have trouble accepting responsibility for. Fast forward four hours and I'm now sitting at the car dealership paying LESS for the proper key. *sidenote: they swear they gave me a product from Jeep, but when I took it to the Jeep dealer, they noted there was no serial number and it appeared to be an 'aftermarket key,' and those tend to not be as reliable. Go figure, for the price they charged my insurance company and myself, the key should open the gates to heaven. But lesson learned. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Lamar came same day to fix our lock a few weeks ago. Not only was his service fast and complete, he was 100% transparent in regards to what work he recommended and why and what the cost broke down to be. He did a spectacular job fixing our lock which had been an issue for almost 6 months after several other locksmiths had claimed to have fixed it. We did have to replace some of the keys for people in our building but once that was done we have all been able to use the key and door without any difficulty. Thank you Lamar!!!! read more

Fantastic sevice start to finish. This was the 7th placed I called, on the reccomendation from a locksmith who doesnt do mobile service. Marie answered the phone, she was polite, helpful and patient. She even told me about different insurance programs and waited while i contacted my insurnace company.... alas progressive doesnt do claims for replacement keys. She gave me a solid estimate, that the technician followed through with, no hidden fees, no nonsense, very honest and up front. Junior, garnet, came to the house about 40 mins after my call, he was also incredibly polite and kind. He worked quickly and efficiently and made sure i was happy with everything before he pulled out the receipt pad. I dont leave reviews often, but in light of the terrible experiences i had before finding lamars locksmith, i thought it was the least i could do.:) read more

What an awful experience!! The key for my Jeep Cherokee was broken, so I went to Lamar Locksmith on Bladensburg Road for a replacement. It took about an hour for the technician to run diagnostics, using about 4 machines, to try and assess my vehicle and the electric key. (Which they STILL didn't figure out!!) While waiting, the owner (an older guy from Israel) decided to chat me up, which was fine. He got on the subject of politics, which is okay if you keep things light. Then he started talking about how screwed up America is, and how he wouldn't want his family to come here from Israel because of how awful America is. He then moved onto a rant about how if he had his way, he would round up all of the "Gays" in America and kill them off. He'd shoot them in the streets and exterminate them all. Seeing how my wife and I are in a same-sex marriage, I immediately asked him to unhook my vehicle, hand me my key, and kiss my ass. It's fine that he is against gays and lesbians, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, this is BUSINESS, and you never know who you're talking to! I could've just as easily been the mother, sister, daughter or best friend of someone who is gay, and it would've been just as offensive. This business will not get a penny of my money, a drop of my business, or an ounce of my respect. Statistics show that news of bad customer service reaches more than TWICE as many ears, as praise for a good service experience. He would do well to remember that, and keep his personal, non-locksmith or key-related opinions to himself!!! read more

New Location... awesome service 24/7. I called with about 1.5 hour notice on a Sunday afternoon to ask if Lamar could cut and program my blank 2010 Toyota Sequoia key which I had purchased online. He asked me to call back with a 15 minute notice of when I would be stopping by so he could be there to help me. I did that and then drove over to his new place. He was super friendly and very professional. He cut my key and programmed it on the spot... including a brief tutor on how it is done, etc. It took him about 15 mins in total to both cut and program my key. $60 charge. Overall... awesome service and I would definitely recommend to friends. read more

One of the worst experiences with any business that I've ever had. They raised the price after having already determined a price for "everything including re-keying." The phone representatives raised their voice and were unbelievably rude. If you read this please do not give your money to this business as they are unethical and unhelpful. DON"T USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Very Unprofessional!! I wanted a deadbolt lock removed & one I bought installed. I called to make a appt on Monday 5/4 for Thurs 5/7 @ 9. I called on Thurs at 9:40 because the Tech wasnt at my house & I explained to the receptionist Mon that my brother had to be to work at 12pm. When she answered I asked where the Tech was she said she didnt dispatch him because she ahd to take diapers to her son school because her Mom picked him up Weds night & her Mom forgot to tell her. (I should've said never mind then) The Tech calls at 10:30 & leaves a message saying he was there. He had my brother call & say that the 1 I purchased was too small for previous hole, but he'll put it on but I wont be able to lock the door. (what was the purpose of putting it on the, Why not put the old one back on). I called the Tech 3 times no answer. My brother called & said he doesnt have a new lock or plate in his truck , I told my brother to put him on the phone or tell him to answer his phone. When he was done he was looking to get paid(my brother used my credit card & paid him. (Not a good move for a half-ass job) I called the Owner Lamar & told him everything stated above. He said it was my fault for buying a small lock. I told him if his tech was on time My brother wouldve had enough time to go out & get the correct one & this is your tech's profession why didnt he come with different locks just in case this happened(because I'm sure I wasnt the first or the last one to buy the wrong size) & why did the Tech drive that big van with no lock plates, locks etc in the back! He said we can work something out but come in person after my office closes( I didnt feel comfortable meeting eoth him after hours) when I suggested just sending the tech out your business says 24/7, I will buy a lock from you guys but I'm not paying for the service or labor again)! I was referred by my realtor who is now not using him for his clients home because of this incident. I wish I could show the pictures of his work. Horrible!!!!!! read more

I took my husband's Cadillac to have a new key and keyless entry made. Even with the remote starter, the price for product and workmanship was so low. Their service was courteous and timely. They worked on the car while I waited and were finished in no time. When I got home my husband was so surprised and everything worked great. The staff were friendly and professional.
