Decided to give lala Java another try after a not so great pulled pork grilled cheese from there last fall. Figured we all have our off days and I would give the local business another try. Flash forward to today when I ordered a Java chino and a sausage egg and cheese bagel. I was charged $10 for the frozen coffee. Their signage is all over the place and as someone who has only been there once before, it's a little confusing but nothing crazy. Seemed expensive but everything is these days so I just paid and waited for my order. As I'm waiting I'm able to get closer to the actual menu board hanging up and see that it has the price listed for the exact drink I ordered at $5 and change so I ask the young man who took my order why I was charged so much for my drink. He ~rudely~ explained how the menu prices have changed and I was charged extra for espresso. I then asked why would I be charged for espresso if I ordered a drink that clearly shows it already comes with it? His reasoning was -well people order it all the time with no espresso in it, even children get it so it doesn't automatically come with it- I said well wouldn't that just be considered a milkshake or a different beverage completely & if it doesn't come with espresso why is it shown on the picture? but after several eyerolls and sighs from the employee I just left because it was not worth arguing about over $5 The drink and bagel were good enough I guess but the customer service is the reason I will not be returning.

What an oasis. We stopped by today and could not believe what a hidden gem we found. Wonderful selection of coffee, baked goods, grilled sandwiches, soups... everything we had tasted fresh, a tomato soup was absolutely fabulous as well as 2 different types of muffins we had. My favorite is cinnamon. They offer coffee, T-shirts, hoodies and mugs too. Music is so calming and lovely that you feel like being somewhere at the beach. And the staff were so good!! Helpful, smily and nice.

This place has fun Cali/Tiki vibes. The barista was really nice and customized a drink for me. The orange poppy cake was amazing! The peanut butter cookie was good but really sweet. We also ordered a Flatbread, but it was cold. Flavors were good but would've tasted better if it was warm.

No wifi and the baristas are rude / dismissive. Coffee is also unnecessarily expensive for the quality you're getting.

As for food: -- Cranberry Orange Scone: Superb. Slightly sweet, a little biscuity, with good moistness and understated glaze that lets the base shine. Sometimes warm. -- Chocolate Croissant: I doubt this is made in house. Flaky, yes, but something's off. Seems like a prefab product from the freezer section. You can do much better than this. -- Rugelach: Very rich with potent Nutella flavor. A little greasy, but in a good way. Small but packs a flavor wallop. -- Cinnamon Bun: Decent. Nice moist glaze and a somewhat dry winding dough. -- Brioche Bun: A small round braided number similar to a pain swisse but also a Scandinavian bun, with custard and chocolate chips. Innovative, but dry and rubbery. Good coffee and good atmosphere, but a mixed bag on the morning treats, with some hits and misses. Order what works for you and you should be happy, especially when comparing against similar places in the immediate area or distant 'burbs. Just don't expect Boston quality and you'll be fine.

I like a hearty pizza that's not soggy in the middle. Mine flatbread was crispy from start to finish and great taste not too much cheese. Fish tacos were well presented and full of taste. The drive out was great. We have to come back again. Maybe next time we pass through.

It had lots of fresh mashed potatoes on top, ground beef and corn. I was surprised by the corn's presence and absence of peas and carrots. It was still really tasty, just a bit unexpected. We got an order of fried shrimp that was excellent with some delicious cocktail sauce. Service from Mary was very friendly, welcoming, and pleasant. Upon walking inside, you'll immediately feel like you've gone back in time. It gives off a very classic, old-fashioned diner feel, with booth seating and red stools along the counter. Important to note that this place is cash only. Lobster and other seafoods are advertised as their specialty both online and within the restaurant. I never had a lobster roll before, and unfortunately, this place made me think lobster rolls were mediocre and overrated (and then I had my life changed by lobster rolls from other places). FOOD: Lobster Roll (6 oz.) (2.75/5) - I opted for mine to be served warm with butter. It came with a side of slaw and very generous portion of onion rings and fries. The lobster roll itself was lukewarm and the melted butter came on the side in a small plastic cup. (I was expecting for the butter to be more incorporated.) The lobster sat on a small bed of cut lettuce. The lettuce wasn't of the freshest quality as some pieces tasted strangely bitter. The lobster was a tad rubbery, and everything was overall bland to me. I found myself reaching for the salt shaker more than would have wanted to. SERVICE: I believe a new hire was getting trained during my visit, so it was a bit clumsy. However, I found it rather charming. They are all very warm people, and you can tell that this is a family owned establishment, which is why I really wanted to like this place. TLDR// Unfortunately, did not have the greatest first lobster roll experience here. Hopefully, I went on an off day or I was better off ordering something else.
