I currently reside in the 3000N Sheridan. It is an absolute college dorm. Think 4-6 people in a 3 bedroom apartment. Granted the units are huge but it still becomes noisy. The kitchen appliances are old. The bathtub overflows every other week. I have to have them come and fix the plumbing constantly. The windows are so old that they do not cancel any noise what's so ever. I don't understand why they can't invest in putting in new windows, considering this building is located on a main/busy street. Oh right, money. To top it off, the leasing agents do not bother to respond to emails/calls. The only positive comment I have is the doormen/maintenance guys. They're so sweet!! read more

I've lived in Wirtz properties since arriving in Chicago in 1999. My experience at 3270 was very good - the staff was incredibly responsive, and the unit was beautiful. The downsides there were: the windows (original 1929 - lots of breezes and LSD noise), no in-unit washer-dryer, an overcrowded laundry room, and extra parking charges. As the recession ended, all long-time tenants were given large rent increases and most left as a result. I moved from there to a Wirtz property in the NW part of the city. The upside is a more affordable rent (for now). It's vintage all the way and there are few amenities. The big downside is with the very unpleasant office staff - they refuse to honor rent prices they've posted on the Wirtz web site, they tell tenants to be responsible for laundry room equipment maintenance, they spend very little on maintenance, and they pass along the cost nearly everything. If you move here, expect annual increases regardless of the market. Also expect some pretty unprofessional communications from the office staff. read more

If I could give a zero star to 3270 n Lake Shore Drive that would be more accurate. I reported two occasions of sexual harassment by a garage attendant. I was assured by both the head of HR and management that Wirtz has "No tolerance" for this behavior. I reported how he inappropriately touched me, and then another time when he insisted himself into my apartment and attempted to hug me. Five days after my report, S, the garage attendant, was still working in the garage-I was frightened and enraged. I reported this to the head of the garage-who was left out of the sexual harassment "investigation" by Wirtz's HR and management. I was informed that this was not the first time that another resident raised the same claim about the same garage attendant. This I brought to management's attention, and again I was told that they take my claims seriously. Three days after receiving that communication, that same garage attendant was still working. No suspension, nothing!! For my own safety, I am moving. Wirtz does Tolerate Sexual Harassment, and don't let them tell you otherwise. read more

Couldn't care less about the tenants. First of all it's October 31st in Chicago and we have no heating in our apartment (they're "working" on fixing it for about a month now). We've been waiting 2 weeks for the stove to be fixed. I've been waiting 2 months for someone to resolve the issue with my parking space (it's always partially taken by garbage containers). 3 months wait for the floor to be fixed (still waiting). Oh! COCKROACHES, cockroaches, cockroaches. I was a long time tenant because I couldn't afford to move. Every two months a big juicy 3 inch cockroach crawled into my apartment, and there were always ten dead ones on the back stairs. If I could give negative stars I would. I subleased a Wirtz apartment from a previous tenant who had lived there for many years. The previous tenant had painted the whole apartment different colors and the janitor who maintained the property was aware. I resigned a new lease due to the convenient location and not wanting to move again. A few weeks after moving out I get an email stating I was being billed for paint damage. I called the office and explained the situation, they spoke to the janitor, and confirmed that the paint damage was caused by the previous tenant and I would not be billed. I resume my life and a few weeks ago received a forwarded letter which I did not open it until recently and when I did, surprise! I had been sent to collections by this garbage company, billing me for something they are fully aware was not caused by me. If anyone has any attorneys they could recommend to help me with this matter, please reply to this post. I am a few weeks away from the birth of my first baby and should be focused on that, but here I am stressing over a bill in collections for over two thousand dollars for something I am not responsible for. Wirtz was a good management company when it was easy to be a good management company. They choose nice buildings and, in my South Evanston building, had hired a great maintenance guy -- really friendly and responsive. But when difficulties came up, Wirtz was a terrible company with horrible staff. My wife was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer in the fall of 2012. In order to pursue treatment at a major cancer center in another state, we moved before the end of our lease. We advertised and found a subletter that was motivated to move in (there had been a shooting in their Chicago neighborhood). Wirtz brought the process to a screeching halt. We couldn't get phone calls returned, couldn't get forms sent to us, and Wirtz staff gave out misinformation to the subletters to try to pressure them into a full year's lease. The Wirtz building manager complained to me that she had to take 2 days off because she had thrown out her back -- this was while my wife was decreasingly able to function (like getting up and down our steps) because of the spread of the cancer that would eventually take her life. Insensitive and inappropriate. After more than a week of non-stop hassle, the subletters backed out, which I do not blame them for. The ineptitude and uncooperative nature of Wirtz staff meant a loss to us of thousands of dollars at a time when we were under severe stress and worried about finances. We eventually went through the process again and found another subletter. I thought I was done with them, but after my wife passed away and I bought a house for me and my son, Wirtz staff reared its ugly head again. The mortgage company wanted to establish my rental history -- Wirtz staff was more cooperative but made errors in paperwork and caused me even more hassle. When we signed the lease for the apartment, my wife and I were so happy -- it was a beautiful place in a great location. We loved living and entertaining there and never expected that our apartment and the management company would become another source of stress on top of an already horrible, gut-wrenching situation. But it was -- you never expect it will happen to you or that you will face the worst-case scenario. We did and Wirtz made it worse. read more

I've always wondered what it would have been like to deal with the company Enron while it was in operation. I would think, didn't anybody see this coming? Well now I know! This company has got to be a house built of cards. I'll make a bold prediction and say that 5 years from now, Wirtz Realty will be 50% of its size today. If you call their customer service, it's as though no one cares at all! If you talk to their maintenance guys, it's like, don't bother me I'm getting a check to live in the building. There is one good thing about Wirtz Realty, and it's that it definitely tells me that if I ever open up a property management company I positively wont be the worst one out there! read more

I had an ok experience while living here in one of their buildings however it took almost a month for my application to go through and they make you resign the lease almost 3 months in advance, yet your lease says 30 days notice. I also asked to have the last month of my lease cancelled as I moved a month early and they never replied for two months, finally they did and said they'd send me paperwork to sublease. For a month? I lived there 3 years and never paid a late bill once and they wanted me to sublease for a month. After getting the paperwork late and literally having to stalk them to get them to send it, when I found someone they never returned her phone call and finally when they did the office said it's too late because it was 1 day short of a month. Also if she wanted to stay the rent was going up over 100$ more. Then I got threatened with a 250$ fee if I did not clean the stove? Where they get the 250$ from is beyond me. You are better off finding a person to rent from not a company. Very disappointed. My building was old but nice and I had enjoyed it until now. They also raised the rent on me 35$ every year. That's just wrong. Their buildings are old, not vintage. The windows are old, bathroom is old everything is old yet they charge "market rent" for a completely not updated apt. read more

We scheduled our first apartment showing on May 28th and we submitted our application the same day. We were told we can get a final answer within a few days if our application can be approved. This broken promise was the beginning of the poor service we received. On June 5th, we waited for to see if we were approved. The Wirtz office told us to call Mark. We called and repeatability left messages with no response. We called the Wirtz office again only to be redirected to Mark. Day after day would go by without a replay. After many calls and messages left for Mark, he called us back on (June 13) stating that he was "busy". In addition, he commented that he had "concerns" about our application. I called back and he wouldn't' answer my calls until 3-4 days later. Often times we thought we got scammed since Wirtz took our money without calling us back. We were very upset that Wirtz poorly handled our application. Since we were ignored for several weeks, we had to seek other apartments which we found else where. We got approved within three days of our submitted application. On top of it, we didn't get our deposit back. TERRIBLE SERVICE STAY AWAY FROM WIRTZ! read more

I used to work in the property management field and Wirtz blows away my former company in all arenas! I love my apartment and Wirtz is very easy to work with. My studio is one of the most affordable and spacious (as spacious as a studio can be) apartments that I found when I was looking to move back to the city. Our building Engineer is terrific-very responsive with maintenance requests and very friendly. The buildings are always clean and the courtyard is nicely kept and landscaped. I just renewed my lease for another year and the renewal process was quick, painless and the increase in my monthly rent was reasonable and affordable. In a decade of apartment jumping, it's nice to have found a place to call home. read more

Wow, the things people complain about in other reviews...this is a major city, guys, things like construction happen, and of course the management company is out to make a buck, they're a business! That being said, I would say Wirtz is better than average as far as Chicago property companies go, though of course my standards are pretty low due to past experiences. They have always been responsive when I've asked them questions or needed maintenance issues tended to in my unit, and within a short time frame. As with all property companies, they definitely cut corners when it comes to things like paint and plumbing, but again, this is common practice in the city of Chicago, although that doesn't make it right. It seems that most of their properties are 'vintage' buildings, so expect the typical issues, i.e. having to constantly use Draino to unclog the pipes, filthy old radiators, etc. Having to use their vendors to install the AC was annoying and not cheap, but at least in my building, I've never uninstalled it for the winter and no has said anything to me. And the pet charge is also lame, but that does seem to be the new standard in renting. Overall, it's been a decent experience. read more

A good buddy of mind lives in this humungous, semi-Lake-View (East Lakeview neighborhood location but only the select few can see the lake depending on your apartment location). I have been in and out several times enough to review it. The courtyard has been nicely "re-grassed" since my first visit 5 years ago. The walls are made of pure concrete so it seems to be very quiet except for the occasional toilet flush. You have nice access to the Sheridan (151) and Belmont (77) buses for transportation. I always complain about having to walk from the Wellington Brown line stop because of "Windy Wellington" being horrible to conquer during the blizzards of wintertime, but completely possible. The mail package pick-up is available in the evening for those 9-5 workers. Apartments are fairly small but reasonably priced for the location. For all this, I give 'em an average 3 stars. Work on the decor...it's no longer the 70s...and the smell of mustiness could be tweaked too... Then I'll consider 4 stars. Check out The Belmont House a few blocks away for a 5 star-worthy rental. read more

I have lived in my apartment for almost 2 years (Sheridan and Wellington), and I have had no complaints. It is a very well maintained building, and the engineers are available 24/7 if you need anything taken care of. They are all super-friendly (especially Joe), and they will help you immediately. I had looked at several studios, and this was really the only one I found that was actually appealing (and yet also affordable). It is very spacious (perfect for just 1 person), and the closet is huuuuuge! They let me start my lease mid-month and allowed me to move in a few days before the start date of my lease. When I moved in, they had cleaned the apartment first, and it was immaculate. I discovered this as I was cleaning it myself, and noticed that no dirt was being wiped off from the cabinets, etc. That said, the rental office in the building is absolutely horrible to deal with. When I wanted to apply, they basically discouraged me saying that there was no way I would get approved. I found that to be fairly rude considering there was no reason I should not be. They are much stricter than most places as I understand, and they made me have a co-signer. However, if you can make it through your dealings with the staff in that office, it is worth it. I know that Wirtz maintains their buildings well, and I would definitely look to live in one of their many properties again If I ever move. ***7/7/08-I'm just updating this to say that the freight elevator has been broken for the past 6 months, and they have made NO effort to fix it. This is ridiculous, and they never were this bad before. Everything seems to have gone downhill since Old Man Wirtz died. 1 star deducted. read more

As a Wirtz tenant, my only complaint is that they are not willing to negotiate rent with you when you go to renew your lease. Otherwise, the building is kept up nicely and the building manager Jamie seems to take her job seriously. I had a great experience moving in despite the fact I was coming into a sublet, they repainted and fixed some cracks the previous tenant had left. So far, it's been very smooth sailing with them. The maintenance people are good and the office is VERY responsive to issues. So I will just put up with the fact that this building is not rent-controlled. It's still cheaper rent than many other buildings in the East Lakeview area. If you happen to read my other review of my previous (BJB managed) apartment, you'll see that Wirtz is heaven compared to the absolute hell of BJB management. I'm still dealing with BJB fall-out, almost 2 years after breaking that lease. Go Wirtz! read more

I just moved out of the Stratford building, and this has been my experience with Wirtz: The good: I had to move out in the middle of my lease, and Wirtz was very helpful and professional in helping my former roommates and me understand our options, draw up paperwork, etc. They definitely seem like an honest company you can feel good about mailing your rent checks to. Our building itself was beautiful, and Wirtz was great about fixing/replacing broken appliances. The maintenance dudes in our building aren't exactly overflowing with can-do, helpful spirit but they do a good job and are trustworthy. The bad: Since I moved in, there had been silverfish, centipedes, and BEETLES spotted on a regular basis in the apartment, plus a weird mosquito infestation during the summer. Wirtz took forever to get an exterminator and told me I was probably imagining it. The problem seemed to go away in the winter, so oh well. Overall, I would rent from them again. You'll get a nice place, professional management, and pretty good maintenance. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience with Wirtz just trying to view an apartment.. I set up a showing to see an apartment at 422 W Melrose and the man that I met with, Pete, was unbelievably rude and condescending throughout the whole experience. I had an appointment at 3pm and because the trains weren't running north that day I had to reroute and wasn't able to get there as early as I would have liked. But at around 2:50pm I received a call from Pete questioning if I was still coming and where exactly I was, he acted as though I was inconveniencing him and it wasn't even the time of our appointment yet ( I think I walked in the building at 3:01, god forbid) Once I got in Pete took me to see the apartment I was interested in (there was a specific floorplan I liked) and when we got into the apartment it was NOT the floorplan I requested to see... the bedroom that the floorplan stated there was didn't exist and when I questioned Pete about it his response was extremely condescending. So their website either is completely false advertising or they didn't pay attention... So as I was talking with Pete about other available apartments he proceeded to tell me I was "jumping the gun" ... I'm sorry but I thought property management companies were supposed to WANT people to rent from them. I was an interested tenant and they treated me as though they had better things to do, if this is how they treat people who want to live in their buildings I don't want to know how they treat actual tenants.... read more

Well I love my home, 2970 N. Sheridan, I've lived here for 7 years and the neighborhood is amazing. The maintenance men have also always been spectacular, I see them as the heart and soul of this building, and they work so hard and are good people. Unfortunately the new administration, I can't speak of in this way as they concern me. They are rude, you are just a number to them, and walking into the office is now uncomfortable. They have spent a ton of money on "improvements" including a key fob system that is super cumbersome esp in the loft elevator and laundry room when you are doing your laundry and it doesn't respond to your attempts to trigger the lock. A camera monitoring system for the buzzer that I see as completely superfluous was another addition- it doesn't help me to feel any safer and only looks fancy. Most importantly, they decided to expand the old trash chute that hadn't been used in who knows how long and for good reason. The process took a long time and was massively loud right next to my apartment. Then today the whole thing lit on fire and risked the safety of all 400+ residents. The system we had before was working, why install this monstrosity that could have destroyed all of our things and of course most importantly, our lives? I run the resident Facebook group, and they know this. It's a thriving community that would be happy to offer up requests for improvements to the building. If anyone had asked, the residents would have said the elevators always break, the hallway rugs are in need of replacement, a quarter machine for the laundry room would help, the front doors to the building have both been broken for years and no one will fix them (especially hazardous to the older residents that live in our building) and the laundry machines break all of the time and need to be replaced. I used my own towel to wipe the flood off the laundry room floor the other day because the washer hadn't drained the water from my clothes and I had to ring it all out and dry it twice, making me late for my meeting. The plumbing is also likely as old as the building- from 1920- and I don't want to think about how unsanitary our water must be by now. I used to have a beautiful south facing view with three trees level to my 9th floor apartment in a park. It was so peaceful and beautiful, those trees were probably 60 or 70 years old at least. The new administration decided to kill them for a fancy new building WITHOUT TELLING US AND LETTING PEOPLE SIGN LEASES WITHOUT COMPENSATING OR TELLING US THAT THEY ARE BUILDING THIS NEW BUILDING AND that now not only blocks my view but has stollen my peace (crazy loud construction noise for over a year) and total loss of privacy (construction men looking into my window to see if I'm changing- and then people will live in those apartments and I'll never be able to spend time in my place without the shades down- which in a studio, feels very cramped. Despite all of these changes to my view, the administration did not care and RAISED my rent instead of lowering it- crazy. I now pay $241 a month more than I did 7 years ago when I moved in and had so much more value to the place, despite the fact that I have taken exquisite care of my apartment, don't throw crazy parties, pay my rent every month, and lost most of the value to my apartment with all of these changes. The apartment itself is great, which keeps me wanting to stay in my home; no dishwasher though, and it has me wondering why I pay so much for what I'v got left, especially when the people in charge seem to be disinterested in treating anyone like humans not numbers. This used to be a community, now it's pure business and not business id want to do with anyone. I don't even walk into the office anymore because I'm so uncomfortable with the staff there. I hope they get their act together. If the maintenance men weren't honest good people, I would have left a long time ago. They're the only thing that's left to keeping this place feeling like a community I hope Wirtz sees value in that but I'm guessing not so much given their nasty track record. read more

I live at 3260 North Lake Shore Drive. My rent is extremely high for the neighborhood. I pay extra every month for indoor parking. Recently both sides of my rear fender were scraped by someone while my car was valet parked in the Wirtz garage. Wirtz garage personnel said they would repair my fender. After one month it is still not repaired. Wirtz also recently eliminated the night security person leaving the building with no security. I was asked by a Wirtz employee to call Rocky Wirtz to make him aware of all the staff cuts and the lack of maintenance in the building. I was trapped in the elevator and the outgoing phone did not work, I had to call my neighbor for assistance. The receiving room package notification software is not working...I have not received a package notification in almost a month. I left a return package for the USPS with Wirtz's receiving room attendant and it was "lost." Wirtz will no longer wash our outside windows because the building is not to code for window washers. There is urine in our service elevator which has been there for over a week. Our property manager is unresponsive. read more

Wirtz is one of the biggest rental companies in Chicago and one of the worst I have ever dealt with. If you are thinking about choosing an apartment in a Wirtz building, here are a few things you should know. The building engineers are wonderful. You will not find a better group of people. However...beware of the office personel. They are rude, slow, condescending and could care less about you once your application fee is in hand. Afterwards you wait forever to get your lease. Trust me, it will be promised several times over before you actually get it in your hands. Although they list office hours for weekends it is difficult to find anyone there. If you're considering renting from Wirtz in the near future, I strongly urge you to reconsider. They're performing VERY loud construction on a lot of their buildings, making them absolutely uninhabitable. While the construction is being performed on the exterior of the building, it was so bad that picture frames literally fell off the wall in my apartment. Honestly, I've never been exposed to such loud noise before in my life, not even considering in my own home! While the construction continues (for the next four months, through summer 2011 in the first phase), tenants are prohibited from opening their windows or installing A/C units. The management has provided no compensation to tenants. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I'm actually surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have lived in a Wirtz property for a year and a half and have had nothing but positive experiences. Mustafa is a great building superintendent, I have never seen any roaches or rodents, and it's a very quiet property. The office staff is nice and very responsive and I feel very safe. In fact, I am always recommending my friends to Wirtz and one actually moved in last year. It's easy to assume that the company knows what's going on in every building but as with anything, it's important to communicate. If I see something; I say something which is why both Mustafa and the office know me well. KUDOS Wirtz for a job well done!!! read more

My son recently moved into 535 W. Corneila Ave. and his experience has been fabulous! He was very fortunate to have Alanna O'Connor as his leasing agent. We had several appointments with other realty companies and Alanna was the BEST agent we met. She was very professional, articulate, intelligent and friendly! 535 W. Corneila was by far the cleanest apartment building we visited. We looked at a variety of studios with other companies in the Lakeview area, lots of dirty places and unprofessional leasing agents! In addition the lease signing process and background check were easy and very efficient! Once my son moved in he was delighted to find a brand new refrigerator, stove and toilet! Ikea messed up with his delivery date and Alanna spoke directly with the building superintendent and arranged for his furniture to be delivered. This was a lifesaver because Ikea changed a weekend date to a weekday date and my son was starting a new job and unavailable to stay home for Ikea. Overall our experience with Wirtz Realty has been outstanding. We were very fortunate to meet Alanna O'Connor who made his relocation process much easier. She went above and beyond and helped facilitate what could have been a very stressful relocation and move! Wirtz Realty is very lucky to have such an amazing and dedicated professional! read more

I've lived in a Wirtz Building on LSD for the last 2-1/2 years. Staff is friendly and responsive. Building is generally very-well maintained. Couple of times I've had to deal with the management office were fine. (One time my rental check was lost in the mail and they charged me a late fee. Later, when the check showed up in their office they (1) didn't deposit it by mistake and (2) credited me back the late fee charge without my having to even ask -- pretty good and organized service, I think.) So all-in-all I've been pretty happy with the company. They seem professional and straight-forward. read more

DO NOT rent from Wirtz! I have been a tenant in one of their upscale buildings for over 6 years. When new management came in, they raised the rent so much that 100 apartments were vacated. The company cares ONLY about money. They overcharge everywhere possible. For example, they restrict whom you can use to install or take out A/C units. The companies on their list charge very high fees. It's a shame b/c the men who work in the building are outstanding. read more

Update: About a year ago, the tenor of bldg management changed. I've been told that a NY firm now runs the place day to day, which might explain the spate of new rules that are renter and pet unfriendly. My wife has visual and mobility impairments but was still expected to take our aging cat to the vets by the back door into the parking lot, where the only exit to the sidewalk is steep ramp with no ADA handrail that she can't safely descend. Then, they put in a decorative low fence that blocked the bus stop. Then, we were all ordered to remove the window air conditioners that had been installed for years but zero space was allocated to store them - and we must hire someone from the approved list and pay them to put them back up every year. Then the rent increased by double digits this year. The hassle/ cost ratio just got too high so we moved elsewhere. We miss the "old Wirtz" but things change... read more

I have lived in a Wirtz building in Old Irving Park for eight years. Never had a problem until earlier this year when contractors living in the apartment below mine accidentally cut my phone line. I called AT&T and they sent out a repairman. Knowing they were working on the apartment below me I asked the janitor to have a look. We went inside and found the phone line had been cut by the contractors. On my next phone bill I was charged $99 for the repair. I copied the bill and sent it with a letter to the building manager, Mark Milkovoc. I followed up with an email to him, and another to Wirtz, but have yet to receive any reply. The neighborhood is great, the building is great, but the management sucks. Can't imagine why they don't take care of this. Completely disappointed! read more

After reading my past reviews (am I the only Yelper who does that?), I realized that my commentaries for my two previous and non-Wirtz managed apartments were really (but nonetheless justifiably) negative. So, as an update, Wirtz has really helped me to release some of my past realty-based resentments. I stay in a Wirtz property on Gunnison. I have been generally pleased with their services. The apt/building is clean. Onsite maintenance person. Friendly/respectful neighbors. There was a $30 bump in renewing my lease plus you have to give them 3 months notice to confirm whether you intend to stay or move. Since I formerly lived out of state, I am used to leases going month to month after the first year. Not sure about Chicago laws, but that difference reduced my rating from 4 to 3 stars. And yes, they are strict with the credit check, but if I got in.... :) read more

Live at 3270 N Lake Shore Drive. The entire process if getting a unit in this beautiful building was a breeze. They are very professional and Pete who showed me the unit was very easy to deal with. Paperwork was done over email in a timely matter. Moved into the unit which was renovated before I moved in (new paint, new kitchen, sanding and staining of floors, and thoroughly cleaned). The building staff is so friendly and very helpful. Super nice tenants throughout the building. Rachelle who is the assistant property manager is so great to deal with if any questions or concerns.....and there has been no concerns. I highly recommend this building - one of the best. read more

Should have let residents know about construction at 2950 N Sheridan. They raised the rent and pleaded IGNORANCE ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION NOT COOL One thing if it was another property owner building not good being shot by your own family. Shame on Wirtz read more

I have been renting from Wirtz for a couple of years now. The application process is a bit tedious, but no other landlord I am aware of in Chicago offers the level of apartment quality/location for the price. The on site manager and building maintenance at 2970 N Sheridan are truly awesome. The agents in the rental office are always as helpful as they can be, even when my questions are not relevant to what they do. read more

I moved out of one Wirtz apartment at Sheridan and Wellington across the street into another Wirtz apartment and have nothing bad to say about either building. In both buildings the building engineers are friendly and helpful and courteous. Both buildings are vintage -- I don't know what shape the inside of my old building is now, but while I was there from 2003-2006 it was well maintained and very clean. My current building is in great shape. People here are friendly and pretty respectful of one another. Our rent hasn't gone up immoderately and it's a good value for the East Lakeview neighborhood. The drawback to having such strict requirements for getting an apartment is that we have fewer neighbors; however, the building isn't overrun by large groups of kids who like to party and I appreciate that more the older I get. My husband and I have been very happy with Wirtz and all of our dealings with the company. read more

I have rented from Wirtz for almost 2 years.I'm really not one to complain if it works why fix it? Well when I did have a problem and needed repairs they weren't very helpful, bc/ I was lied to and I was told that he(meaning landlord) was going to notify the maintenance man and have him come in and fix what was wrong. Well a couple of weeks go by I wanted to be nice and not be annoying and give them time. I'm understanding, no one ever came, I never a got a phone nothing. So in that case I decided to call again this time I was informed there was a new landlord (wow thanks for the notification!) This jerk goes on to tell me that the repairs that I want, are things that they do before someone moves in, well guess what?????!!!!! They weren't done when I moved in either, that's why I'm calling!!! I was just upset bc. one guy says yeah we will get right on it, the next says "oh, we don't do that........." Well I just let it go, about 6 months later I get a letter under my door saying we have yet another new landlord (this is the third one in 15 months) Yeah, this new guy lasted about 4 months and now I have yet another landlord. Wirtz as a company hires the most incompetent,rude,lazy, neglect people I have ever come across. Applying for a Wirtz apartment is comparable to being probed by extraterrestrial life. The woman was very invasive and belittling and made the whole experience awkward, no person deserves be treated the way you get treated when you enter their offices .Over all I think Wirtz is over rated, I think that they are a multi million dollar company that maintains the bare minimum and gets by with it. Yeah they maintain the outside but isn't it the inside that counts? read more

Dealing with the leasing office ladies for the 3000 N. Sheridan building is a nightmare. They are so rude and not very helpful at all. I lived in the building for 4 years and I can tell you moving in, out, and subleasing a room in our place was always a mess and you got treated horrible any time you had to deal with them. It was like you were a hassle and annoying if you just wanted them to do their job! I was told "whatever" and hung up on the last time I had to deal with them. For such a great building, with great doormen, and maintenance staff, their leasing office has a lot of work to do. I have never been treated like that for any other apartment, maybe Wirtz should help these ladies learn to treat people decently, especially because it is their job to help you move in and out. So if you move into this great building, don't take it personally, they are rude and disgusting to everyone! read more
