What a gem! My fiancé, father, and I rented a boat on Cayuga Lake the Monday after Mother's Day. Early in the season, we weren't sure what would be open. We saw a dock and sign for Lakeshore Winery and another winery that we later found out is no longer in business. As we were docking the boat and walking toward the winery, one of the owners met us half way and informed us that they were technically closed, but since she was there, she said she'd do a tasting with us. Wow! We had the place to ourselves and really enjoyed the wines, especially the Dry Cayuga White which we ended up buying a case of. Reasonable prices, lots of games and seating, and a small gift shop. We will be back! read more

Stopped at Lakeshore Winery on Thursday afternoon. I was not the most excited about their wines, but I thought the staff was excellent and the space was a lovely, relaxing spot to enjoy a drink. Quality: Lakeshore Winery was the first of many wineries we visited over the holiday weekend. While I was not particularly struck by any of their wines, the experience was wonderful. Our host led us through multiple options during the Tasting with excellent descriptors. The tasting even came with a brownie for the final wine. The highlight wine of my tasting was the Cayuga White, which had just a little sweetness. My least favorite was a very peppery Cabernet Franc. At the conclusion of the tasting I also enjoyed a Blue Raspberry Wine Slushy, which was a fun treat for a warmer day. Quantity: Nice pours for the Tasting, which came with five wines. Generous pours for glasses. Value: $10 for a Tasting. $6-$7 for a glass of wine of slushy, making it a better option to just open a bottle. Ambiance: Lakeshore Winery sits on the western side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes. The winery sits up on a hill, providing a nice view of the water. The taproom has a strange setup, with some low ceilings in an older building, but they were keeping guests in the outdoor garage area for tastings. They had an open lawn with a few chairs and outdoor games, making it a place guests could definitely enjoy a bottle and relax after trying some wine. Crowd: Quiet on Thursday afternoon. There was one other couple doing a tasting and a group of four enjoying a glass in the yard. Service: They provided one of the most thorough tastings during our recent visit to the Finger Lakes. This place is on or by the Cayoga Lake.. it's an old school type of family owned spot. No bells and whistles. You basically sit in all sorts of chairs and whatever for your tasting they walk around and pour you your wines. Most of the wine is pretty good the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine to get here if you buy any wines here. I don't do sweet wines.. The family who owns this place is cool and our wine tour guide was rather helpful and pleasant. The outside has a nice view and games to play outside and some seating outside to hang out. So like any tourist we spent the first day of our vacation visiting wineries on the Cayuga Lake Trail brochure. However, my family wanted to visit a place with a great view of Lake Cayuga and Lakeshore didn't disappoint. Annie gave us a great great tasting for a price performing $5/person explaining everything about the local grapes. The homey tasting room and fireplace tasting room was warm and inviting. The thing that impressed us the most was that "every" wine we tasted was amazing. This was not true of the other wineries on the Wine Trail map. Needless to say this is a definite do over and for any of you who love wine and like to know something about what your drinking then plan to visit. You won't be disappointed. read more

Loved this place on our stop at several wineries! You can tell they really care about their business which makes you want to support them even more. Every wine we tasted we thought was good and I would have brought them all home if I could. They were all reasonably priced as well. We did a tasting, and they explain the types of wines and grapes and give large enough samples for a few sips to really taste it. The grounds were beautiful and there were outdoor games of cornhole to enjoy. The normal tasting room is inside with a fireplace and looks really cozy-will definitely be back after covid to try this out again! Such a fun time! read more

Beautiful place for good value wines, both sweet and semi-dry. Not only does it have a great view of the lake, but the building has a ton of history dating back to 1820. I love their unique Baco Noir. read more

Lakeshore Winery was one of the three stops on our wine tour by boat hosted by Bianocni Tours. We were greeted so warmly by two women, one of whom conducted a taste test with our group. Two more groups showed up while we were there and somehow she was able to conduct their tastings at the same time! We were so impressed. The tasting ended with a bite of their delicious brownies. We bought a bottle of the Dirty Old Man (Uncle Charlie) and the Dockside Blush. Highly recommend a visit to this winery if you're in the area! read more

Fabulous experience. Annie was so knowledgeable and generous with her time and her pours. The wine was very good and we were enticed to buy each one we tasted. Reasonably priced and quite good for the region. The view from the outside patio is so relaxing - can only imagine what summer weather and sunshine will add to the experience. Well worth the visit! Such a cool place! A really nice interior, where they have you sit in rocking chairs while they do your tasting. They even include a taste of a brownie at the end to round out your tasting. My first visit to Lakeshore Winery would have earned four stars: the fireplace made the establishment feel cozy and my family and I enjoyed a relaxing wine tasting. They had lots of sweet wines, which I prefer, and although they weren't spectacular, they were inexpensive and good to have on hand in a pinch. My second visit was cold and rushed and lacked any of the ambiance of the first. Futhermore, my wine was bad when I opened it. At first, I was excited to go back to bring some new folks to this winery, but I won't be bringing anyone else again in the future. read more

This winery was recommended to us from the Cayuga Tourism office. The lady mentioned that we'd be able to sit in big rocking chairs during the tasting and hear all kinds of interesting stories. Wrong. We did sit in the chairs, but we were rushed in and out of there in a split second. The middle-aged balding man who gave us the tour was as unfriendly as they come. He didn't describe the wines, took no interest in our conversational chatter, and did not care one iota which wine we liked or didn't like. Not a smile did he crack nor a story did he tell. I would say stay far away from this cheap place with yucky wines and explore some of the finer vineyards. read more

Ah yes, one must love the Finger Lakes wine trail. Discovered this one while driving along Rt. 89 along Cayuga Lake. They offered a nice tour, but let's get to the meat of the review. They make a blush wine called Uncle Charlie. Wine snobs, keep it in check - the name should tell you this doesn't aspire to greatness. During the tour, they mentioned that this wine works well with spicy foods. One thing led to another, and we discovered that this is the PERFECT accompaniment to a nice huge Hot Truck sub. Uncle Chuck and Truck. A wonderful combination, if you think huge french bread pizza subs that will wreck your digestive system should to be paired with wine. read more

Lakeshore is a jewel of a winery, with the unpretentious mix of gentle atmosphere and superb pours that many wineries strain to achieve, ambiance with easy authenticity. At Lakeshore, gracious, well informed staff pour a selection of wines that delight and excite, we found. The two we bought - one of which was a superb French style dry chardonnay, served to renew the memory and extend the pleasure when opened weeks later. An unexpected treat was the opportunity to sit in front of a lovely old stone fireplace, enjoying light whiffs of hardwood smoke while nibbling on brownies made to a standard we hadn't experienced in a long time: light crunch on the outside, soft center, perfectly complementing a dry white! Not a bad metaphor for the memorable experience we had, one we'll aim to repeat next year. The owner "Fort Knight" is super welcoming, warm and funny. I wasnt drinking, but he included me in the tasting by giving me a glass of water. Super sweet man. My friends did the Wine tasting, which was $3 dollars and my friends liked the "sweet old lady" wine. The brownie they gave us to taste with the wine, was delicious. I wish they were also selling the brownies though. read more

This was a surprise - not much to look at from the outside but super host. We were the only ones there and got a nice history of the winery from out tasting spot in rocking chairs. Very casual atmosphere on the ground floor of the bard. The wines were fine, average for the area but the atmosphere was great and we would go back to taste again. read more
