Hosmer Winery was such a nice surprise. I had read ahead and saw that they had several wines I would like. We had no idea that it would be as cool as it was. We were so lucky we were there on a day with live music. It was such a fun atmosphere. The music was great. We decided to have wine slushies since it was such a warm day over Labor Day weekend. The raspberry was so good and so flavorful. Unfortunately, the pineapple wasn't super flavorful but it was ok. The people were all very nice, welcoming and willing to help. In fact, we poked our head in, saw what it was like and then were going back to our car to get our chairs. One of the female employees saw and ran after us. She wanted to make sure we were ok and weren't upset. We then told her it looked so cool and so much fun that we wanted to get our chairs to hang out. That is excellent service. Definitely come check them out and support them. They're fantastic. read more

Stop here for a quick tasting and to check out the gift shop but otherwise, it's missing on the beautiful views that other wineries have. Free wine glass with a $10 tasting for 5 wines. Hosmer winery was recommended by my sister. The main house was an adorable, quaint-looking house. We entered, masks on, and made our wine selections from Hosmer's extensive list. We were given a wine glass to take home with us, and our selections were brought out in paper shot glasses. They were marked with numbers corresponding to a sheet of paper so we knew which wine we were drinking, which I greatly appreciated. I loved the rustic, relaxed feel of the tents and mismatched chairs. Hosmer didn't feel stuffy at all. I enjoyed most of the wines I tasted, but the Raspberry Rhapsody was wonderful and I ended up eagerly buying a bottle to take home. Our service was great, but I was disappointed to learn that our flights, at ten dollars each, were double the normal price of wine tasting at Hosmer. I do understand that Hosmer is a business and looking to recover lost profits from the coronavirus. And ten dollars for a five-option flight with a take-home glass wasn't too bad. Included in the cost was a bag of oyster crackers, a sneaky (and illegal) way of getting around the Governor's coronavirus rules. I enjoyed a glass of 2019 Limited Release Riesling; very smooth and dry; very tasty. My husband enjoyed a glass of 2017 Late Pick Riesling, a deliciously sweet dessert wine. Great place to listen to live music. Two large tents to provide shade on a hot day. The musicians we heard today, Tribal Revival, were very much to our liking; relaxing music that I would characterize as "soft rock." The winery is unpretentious and welcoming. Give me good wine, good service and good music and I don't need anything fqncier. read more

The final and fourth stop on the Crush wine tour. Hosmer Winery had... the best wine ! Well, in my opinion at least. I was with 7 other gals and they all seemed to agree, so that's got to count for something... right? The Chardonnay was smooth and buttery and we all enjoyed this the most. So much so, that most of us grabbed a bottle to take home as a souvenir. Otherwise, the service and the property was nothing to write home about. This was by far the most crowded of the wineries, so understood that there wasn't much personal attention. But, the staff did seem a little snarky which wasn't great. There is also a wine and chocolate pairing which looked lovely. Maybe next time. They also had some pretty sweet merch, so if you are looking to buy a tee shirt or a hat on your wine tour I'd save it for Hosmer. I have a few bottles at home and I'm looking forward to enjoying them, especially that chardonnay. If back in the area I would certainly return. read more

Stopped here while on this side of the lake. As soon as we went in and were greeted, they told us to pick which wines we wanted to try. They would bring them out to you with a glass per person trying the wine. The woman waiting on us provided us a rich history of the place. She said that she loves the Pittsburgh Steelers. Out of the 5 wineries and 1 cider house I visited during my trip to the fingerlakes, Hosmer was my favorite. Hosmer had one of the largest varieties of wine, and let me tell you I thought they were all balanced and delicious and of a much higher qualities than some of it's competitors in the area. Staff was friendly, especially the person that facilitated our tasting that day. The main tasting room was kind of full, so she brought us down to a different area where we were the only party so we got specialized attention. My top picks were the Cabernet Franc and the Brut Rose and you better believe I took some of each home for later. I inquired about the wine club, and they didn't try to sell me on the spot which I appreciated. read more

We had the best time here! During a day of winery hopping in a COVID rules filled world it was so special to end up here and find such a great out door space. Everything was well spaced out and there was actually a father/son duo playing live music! Visited Hosmer Winery on Thursday evening. While there was nothing particularly bad about our visit, it was just an unmemorable experience in an area where a lot of wineries are doing more to stand out. Quality: We arrived at Hosmer Winery later in the day, and even though they were still technically open for another hour it seemed like they were already closing things out. The response to asking for a Tasting was not great and we did not receive much in terms of feedback when asking about recommendations. We ended up splitting just one Tasting. I thought the Semi-Dry Riesling was the best of the bunch we tried, but not to the point we considered a bottle. We thought about another Tasting, but when we stuck our head back inside no one was there, which we took as another sign that they were done for the day. Quantity: The Tasting came with five pours, which were all the same size in the plastic cups. Value: $12 for a Tasting that comes with a wine glass. Ambiance: Hosmer Winery is located along the west side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lake region of New York. They have a small and simple indoor tasting room. There was a bar area insider, but they were setting up all tastings so the guests could navigate the wines themselves. The outside area was quite large with a big tent and then some additional seating uncovered on the lawn. It seemed like a missed opportunity to do a guided tasting outside, but COVID has clearly had an impact. They have nice views of the nearby vines, but they don't have a spot that overlooks the water. Crowd: There were about six guests sitting under the tent outside on Thursday afternoon. At least two had dogs, and it was clear it is a very pet friendly location. Service: For a Tasting they had us go inside and select the wines we wanted to try. They then provide a wooden block with the different wines poured in plastic cups, along with a glass to pour each into. The menu had short descriptions of the different wines. The staff was not very involved in the process and be warned they may close early on weekdays Parking: Private parking lot at the front of the property. read more

This one was especially fun because, while it's supposed to be 5$ to taste 5 wines, when I expressed that I was impressed with the number of different Rieslings on their list, and that I had no idea which ones I should try, the person there just let us try all of them for the same 5 bucks, which was *awesome* of her - we ended up trying like 10. Turns out they were all quite delicious, too, *especially* the dry ones (but the semisweet were tasty too). They also have a particularly good blackberry wine right now (definitely tastes like it was made with entirely real blackberry fruit, not flavoring or anything dumb like that), which they have in both "slightly sweet" and "knock your face off sweet" varieties, both of them quite good. read more

Came here from a recommendation from a different winery that we were really happy with. I have a service dog. The lady said that my dog wasn't allowed. I showed his identification and she said that it didn't matter. She said I had to wait outside while my friends picked the wine. I told her that she's discriminating against the disabled. She then changed her story to all of 4 of us had to wait outside due to covid. But there was no one else in the store besides the employees. She just kept tripping over her words as her story changed... We just left, feeling very bad. You'd think businesses knew the difference between pets and service animals. read more

We were greeted at the door by the very courteous and friendly staff. A larger party entered right behind us and the staff made accommodations, within approved guidelines, for all of us. I don't remember the name of the wonderful lady that served us, but she was knowledgeable and very helpful during our tasting. The wine was some of the best we tasted of the 11 wineries we visited during our stay. We purchased a case of their wine for ourselves. Case discount and wine club was included with the purchase. I enjoyed Hosmer winery so much that I forgot to take pictures lol Second stop on our DIY VIP wine tour and we were not disappointed. Two things stood out for us at Hosmer - the incredibly friendly, knowledgeable staff and the Sangria. First, the staff. It was fairly quiet at the winery when we showed up a little after noon on Saturday. It is not as flash or quaint as the other wineries in the area, but it has a homey feel and you can tell straight away that they are passionate about wine. We learned that they were one of the first vineyards to open in the Region over 40 years ago. Our wine host was knowledgeable about Hosmer's products and clearly took pride in the winery's products. He was engaging, personable and got to know us a bit during our visit. At no time did we feel rushed as we sampled 6 different wines. So, the Sangria. A-mazing! Big bottle, small price, huge flavour. My wife and I were both blown away by Hosmer's fun take on the traditional sangria. With all natural fruit flavours added to a strong red table wine, it has the perfect zing and refreshing taste for a fun summer afternoon on a patio or backyard barbeque. Best served chilled, but not cold, you still want the zippy flavours to come through in your glass. Hosmer wines are available throughout New York state at select retailers and the winery was kind enough to share with us their distribution list to see which retailers in the Buffalo area carry their Sangria. We couldn't resist the yummy chocolate covered espresso beans when we checked out, a tasty and fueling impulse buy for under $5.00! We will definitely be back to this winery on our next Finger Lakes adventure! read more

We are visiting the Finger Lakes for a milestone birthday. 3 days of vineyards planned. On day 2, we visited Hosmer Winery. Reserved a tasting in advance. When we arrived we were directed upstairs. Brooke did an amazing job taking us through our 5 wines. We selected Reislings as those are highly rated by Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator. They were the best I've tasted. That's a bold statement for someone who has a preference for French and Napa reds. They also had a band playing outside and arranged for a food truck that serves mac & Cheese. read more

We only stopped in quickly and the atmosphere wasn't as warm as we are accustomed to along the trail, but in fairness we had been to two wineries before getting here and were chatting among ourselves more. But we didn't get to learn much about the wines during this visit, so I will have to go back to learn more. We stopped here on a whim before we "officially started wine tasting for the day since it was on the way to our jumping off point. It turned out to be a good stop. They hadn't really got going to for the day yet but it was still a good experience. I wasn't as big a fan of all their wines but did light the sparkling raspberry one. I would give no stars if I could. We made reservations to celebrate with my 93 year old mom and we're so looking forward to the visit. We ordered the local charcuterie board. What a joke! Ritz crackers! We were ignored and dismissed by the guy at the bar. When my mom asked him to slow down he took offense that she was hard of hearing and he talked even faster and lower...mumbling. Terrible experience! They need to welcome customers not make the feel horrible. Disappointed and so sad. We weren't going to let him ruin our time and recommend you go to Knapp Winery down the road for excellent, friendly and outstanding customer service and great wine!!! read more

One of my favorites in the Finger Lakes region. A nice combination of rustic charm (similar to Cayuga Ridge) and great wines (up there with Heron Hill and even Dr. Frank for some of their wines). The tasting experience was well-paced - not as fast as other, busier wineries in the region, but not turtle's pace either. There is not much of a lake view here; it's on the other side of the road. But very easy access and set back away from the main highway. Favorites were the dry Riesling (New York is THE place for my dry Rieslings now--confirmed), and their table wines, all of them. And at $7.99 a bottle, you could go home with half a case (or more), and not feel broke. read more

Great place to stop on the Finger Lakes wine trails! While Hosmer is located on the west side of Cayuga it's also convenient to the trail on the east side of Seneca. They have a bunch of wines and their tasting fees are pretty reasonable. Our favorite wine is the semi-dry Riesling and it is very reliable year over year. The reserve Riesling is too expensive (not worth the extra money) and the dry just isn't as good (in our opinion). We also like the raspberry wine they have. Very good! Definitely sweet but not overwhelming. Great with chocolate cake or something for dessert. Also could be a great ingredient in a cocktail! Finally, we like the Chardonnay. Again, the reserve chard isn't worth it, but the regular is delicious. Not too much oak. Nice butter flavor. Very good. We wish that the tasting fees could be converted to $ off of your purchase. read more

This winery was fun but not as good as the others. When we went upstairs for the tasting there were dozens of those large black flies above our heads. The wine was good, the setting wasn't great. I will go back because the wine is pretty good but you shouldn't expect the same setting at the others on this route. read more
