They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!!

But, I truly needed a functional backup pair and started hunting around. I knew I'd be paying more for this pair since I've graduated now to progressive lenses. I didn't want to go back to Walmart or Costco or Target, because those glasses still cost a pretty penny and have never been a great fit. The last pair I got from Walmart a couple of years ago, no change in prescription, makes me woozy. Eyemagination had such great reviews here, I decided to check it out. And the instant I walked through the door, I was filled with confidence that this was the place. I was welcomed by Maureen and Stephen right away. After introductions and a nice chat, Eyemagination started to feel like an old-fashioned salon or barbershop, where you've been coming for years and it feels like family. I didn't realize what goes into a proper glasses fitting because, I guess I've never had one! You get your face measured. You get your dominant eye checked, spacing, all angles and nose bridge noted. They have gadgets. It's the closest thing you'll find to choosing the right wand from Ollivanders. I'm pretty sure my glasses chose me. The technicians are part artist, part clinician, part engineer and part designer. I was helped by Maureen, the lovely, twinkly-eyed, warm shop owner. Stephen also joined in, and was sharp, attentive, caring and impressive. The two make an excellent team and they found me a frame I would actually enjoy wearing. When I returned a week or so later to pick up the glasses and get a final fitting, both Maureen and another lovely lady whose name I am forgetting helped adjust things perfectly. Maureen really wants the glasses to fit and feel comfortable and watches you like a hawk to make sure you are truly happy with your selection. My prescription was challenging but she nailed it. My mom's sunglasses look fantastic and I'm sure her regular glasses will too when they're ready. The frame selection was super, even for the lower-priced options. Skip the zoo at Costco, Walmart or Target and swing over to this local business that has been knocking it out of the park for several decades. They are so warm and welcoming, you'll walk away wishing you needed a pair every year just to visit for the company and lovely conversation. I was blindly going to have SW Eye Center take 2 pairs of JMM's and 2 pairs Dita's and convert them to readers for about $2400. They can't fit me in, they sent me to the other Mesa location and they can fit me in but they want to charge me $260 because they're a different owner. Best decision I ever made was to pick up my glasses and start go to Google search. Found 3 eyeglass companies, checked out 2 of them and Scottsdale eyewear cause the last one farthest away from where I had picked up the glasses, so I stopped there at the very end of my search. Walked in & I was immediately greeted by very friendly staff. They're very knowledgeable. Told them when I wanted to do, they said they could just order lenses, which is the first time anyone has said that out of the other 3 businesses. Everybody wanted to order special made lenses because they're high-end glasses but Scottsdale eyewear said there's already lenses. They just have to order them and throw them in. That being said, I was thrilled, I really wanted to turn my nice glasses into readers. Old people problems you know what I'm talking about... then came the price I was blown away! I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer.
