I was born and raised in Holland, and I think Lake Ranch Resort is the best value lodging in the area! I always recommend it to people who let me know they'll be visiting. It's great for families, couples, or friend groups. It's a perfect location, with walkable access to the state park, hiking, food, ice cream, and more. Quick drive to downtown Holland. The rooms are air conditioned. The pool is well-maintained and iconic. There's a volleyball court and campfires. It's locally-owned. There really is no better place to stay. I recommend walking to the General Store for fresh donuts and nitro brew coffee in the morning. It's a hidden gem! Getting a takeout pizza and eating it on the marina is a great idea too. read more

Bill has been fantastic, its clean, well maintained and it's close to the beach and downtown. The pool is always perfectly heated. We stayed for the Tulip Festival and Lake Ranch Resort was great. Close enough to downtown but far enough away from the traffic. The room was very clean and kept in nice shape. The staff was awesome and so friendly and helpful. I would stay again without any hesitation. It has gas grills along with any utensils and plates needed. Great location and scenery. We rented two of the one bedroom units for three nights. Our group was 3 adults & 3 kids (kids are age 6,4 & almost 2). The pool is heated to 85 degrees & was a great place to spend a lot of time. It is fenced separately from the courtyard which is nice. The courtyard had some small ride on toys, a little tykes basketball hoop, shuffleboard court & net for volleyball. There's a very nice grill & gazebo area. It was relaxing to sit out on our patios & watch the kids play. Being in units 30 & 32 we were far enough back from the boat docks that the kids never headed that way (of course we kept eyes on our kids because the dock isn't fenced off.). It's a short walk to the General Store & it's not far to walk to the beach on Lake Michigan. Because this is a small resort, there is never a crowd. One of us lives in California, two in Oregon & one adult & the three kids in Chicago. Bill is a gracious host & made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We will be back! read more

We've been looking for a place this nice to stay in Holland. Our room was spotless and just the right size for 2 people. Lake Ranch is right on the bike trails, close to the beach, and had the perfect chairs for an afternoon of reading. The host, Bill, was extremely accommodating. Lake Ranch is a really nice place. They have a great location. Several miles from town BUT right on Macatawa and close to Ottawa Beach SP, marinas, Ottawa Beach Inn, and a few other businesses. My only issue is that it seems a bit pricey, but that's because of the location. I can understand summer, but after Labor Day the rates should be even lower IMO. Don't expect upscale hotel amenities as it's a cottage-style condotel. It IS clean and comfortable. Kitchenette really helps. My wife thought the bathroom could have been a bit fresher. Bed was great, pillows were awful. When we go again we're bringing our own. Should have thought of that anyway. It's something we usually do when we drive to an overnight stay. Shower was great, I thought. Water was hot enough for my wife, who likes a damn near scalding hot shower. They have wifi but I never got it to work. Not sure if there was a problem, but we didn't want to invest the time in researching a fix. Also nighttime was cold, and the heaters in the room are loud (this is not a year-round resort; heaters are small wall units). Room was smaller than it seemed in the photos. They have an outdoor pool and a game room/sitting room with movies and games, and shuffleboard. Otherwise the lakes/boating are THE attractions. Mt. Pisgah is across the street. Climb the 239 steps for great vistas of both lakes. Good workout. They seem to be sticklers about parking, I imagine if they weren't that people would park in their lot to avoid paying for car entry into the state park beach. Any complaints we have are quirky ones, but it's a solid 4 stars - maybe 4.5. The people who manage it are really nice and attentive. read more

Two friends and I go somewhere on a girl trip each year while my sister-in-law takes care of my disabled husband. We choose carefully since we have a limited time. I am the one who does all the internet searches and reservations once we have decided where we want to go. This year we decided on Holland, MI and would have been fine staying either in Holland or Grand Haven. Since we like to be near water if we can, my search resulted in choosing Lake Ranch Resort. From the moment I called to make reservations I had a good feeling - Bill Grimes was so helpful and friendly and sounded very down-to-earth and the place sounded great. Located on Lake Macatawa it sounded like a perfect location for us. Once we arrived and I saw the outside, I had a sinking feeling because it looked on the older side. But it looked well maintained. One friend and I checked in and again, Bill Grimes was great. He was friendly and VERY helpful about things to do in the area. He pulled out a map and drew circles and arrows and told us all sorts of things to see and do, many of which we actually did - such as going to Itty Bitty Bar, Mt. Pisgah, right across the road, and the Moynihan Gallery in town. When we got into our room, all my misgivings disappeared. The room was lovely, clean and well equipped. We were in the end room with 2 bedrooms and our view was fantastic. We absolutely loved our time here and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Holland. Great place! We stayed here for one night. We were looking for something reasonably priced near the beach. Our room was cute and nicely decorated. It was a cottage feel. Able to park right in front of your room. Free wifi. Kitchenette was handy. Clean. Right on a lake and marina. Nice chairs to sit outside. Shuffle board and pool. Bill at the front was nice and helpful. Close to Holland State Park, which was really nice. We ate at the Ottawa Beach Inn and I highly recommend it! Cute small town and nice place. read more

We stayed here for my husbands birthday. It was perfect!! The location cannot be beat. I have a couple "must haves" when staying away. Food & drinks within walking distance & water close by. Lake Ranch has them all!! Not to mention the state parks right there. Bring your bike to get around this quaint little town, you won't be disappointed. read more

We have been going to lake Ranch for years and were there this past weekend to see the tulips and to do some fishing. We always enjoy our visits and a big part of our satisfaction is the property manager, Bill Grimes Bill is always very welcoming and will do whatever he can to make your stay an enjoyable stay the location is perfect that offers walking distance to the Michigan state Part and Lake Michigan , situated on a large lake that offers fishing on the docks steps from your room , and minutes from the quaint downtown area of Holland. The rooms are clean and pretty quiet and relaxing. We usually do quite well catching fish off the dock right by the resort, even though we did not do as good this last visit as we typically do We still had a very relaxing and enjoyable time though We highly recommend this facility for a great getaway . read more

My little family of 3 stayed here for a long weekend this weekend. What a great place to stay! We have a toddler and I wasn't sure what to think from photos about if this was a child-friendly place to stay. It was perfect! There was a great playground with a sandbox, kids toys near a roped off shallow area of the AMAZING, heated, saltwater pool, and plenty of toys in the courtyard. The kitchenette in the room was equipped with dishes and everything needed and the room was extremely clean. We'll definitely be back to stay here next time we are in Holland! read more

We found this place last minute for a 2 day trip we were taking to explore Holland and go to New Holland Brewery. They had a quaint room that fit our needs that was priced just right. The owner Bill was so friendly and helpful. He even had a map that he flagged with places he thought we would like to visit. It was the end of the season and not many guests but I imagine it would be a great place for a family vacation in the summer. read more
