I stayed here a few years ago under the previous owner and Rob has only improved what was already a wonderful place to stay! The grounds are gorgeous with plenty of outdoor seating, the house and rooms are spotless, you hear no neighbors, and it feels homey and spacious. The breakfast was incredible - build-your-own toast bar with a multitude of sweet and savory options. Rob makes most things in-house and he's an incredible cook! Coffee is plentiful and locally roasted. There's a mocktail/soda bar with great selections of simple syrups and flavors. Check-in is so easy and I love that the key gives you after-hours access so you can explore gorgeous Holland to your heart's content. Well done, Rob. You've created an absolute destination stay.

I'm not usually an "Inn" person but I love that it's in the heart of downtown Holland and you can walk everywhere (even if the winter). I also want to eat breakfast there every day if I could.

Lots of great positives here. The rooms are clean, mini-fridge, microwave, clean bathroom. Shower has shampoo / soap / conditioner dispensers which is great. Towels plentiful, clean. Beds are relatively firm. The TV - good selection of channels, and HBO is their jam there while others I have seen Showtime. It's all good since I like HBO. They also have good options to plug in your devices, extra outlets located on top of the end table and desk, and USB option so you don't have to get on you knees. Great concept. Breakfast options open until 10am which is solid. Pretty good options, the manager there cares about her customers and does a great job keeping it up and the quality too. My favorite is the oatmeal - which is great to eat throughout the day, something I don't make a lot at home. The eggs here are solid - typical omelet w/ cheese at times, but I love the scrambled eggs which are fluffy and good quality. Bacon here looks good but is thin and sometimes greasy and not as satisfying, wish it was thicker cut and crispier. Waffle stations available too. I like the yogurt options and also milk and chocolate milk. They also make bags of snacks with bottled water for you to take on the go and cannot eat there. I wish: - they had A2 milk or lactose free milk options - they had sausage links (I've seen at some comparable hotels in area) - but I don't really need the extra cholesterol so not a deal breaker. - They could do something about the plethora of kids that stay there w/ families. That's the only major downside here is some large family groups or teams stay there, and a lot of the parents don't watch their kids and allow them to roam around aimlessly. So one night they were running up and down the hallway until midnight - omfg I was irritated. And some of them treat this hotel like it's home so they don't mind yelling or talking loud in the hallways. Or the room above me - the kids are jumping and running around until late - omg. But it usually ends at midnight if you can handle that. There's also an indoor pool there with games. I have mentioned this and the staff are aware and said I need to let them know and they will say something. But they try to keep things under control and they are frustrated as well. Recently I noticed their prices have increased by nearly 50%, so I split my time w/ another hotel 25 min away, but overall when I am in this area I do like this Hampton Inn and do recommend them. Great rooms, clean, customer service, ample parking too.

Fast forward two trips later we're big fans. The property is well maintained, the staff are friendly, other guests have been welcoming and respectful, and there is so much to do. Holland State Park is great but this year (2018) Tunnel Park was the hit. We have 4 kiddos entertainment is important. I highly recommend a stay here.

First, the location is awesome. Across the street from a Lake Macatawa access (our balcony had a lake view) and down the street from the Holland State Park Lake Michigan Beach (perfect to watch the sun set). We also hiked Mt. Pisgah a couple of days (just down the street too). We stayed in the Newport (sleeps 8, 4 in beds, 4 in sofa beds). We loved the unit from the decor to the multi level layout and fully stocked kitchen. If someone in your party has trouble with stairs I might pick a unit that has an additional first floor kitchen/bar. There is a jet tub in the master bath and a private patio with a grill off the back of the first floor bedroom. There is also an outdoor grill with patio table seating right off the pool deck for entertaining. The salt water pool and hot tub (mostly the hot tub) was my fav, especially after climbing all those stairs at Mt Pisgah. 8 minutes to downtown Holland and 20 minutes to Saugatuck. Just down the street was a kayak and paddle board rental place. Additionally you get privileges at the Macatawa Golf Club which was very nice. It was worth every penny and we hope to go back again!

Extremely Disappointing Stay - Will Never Return…read more I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Holland, Michigan, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I was charged for waters that I never drank, and despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the hotel refused to refund me. According to their paperwork, the waters "weren't in the room," which is absolutely untrue -- we never touched them. The lack of accountability and professionalism from both management and staff was unbelievable. The room itself was also a major disappointment. The plumbing was terrible -- the sink backed up while brushing my teeth, and every time the toilet was flushed it looked like it was about to overflow. The hotel is under remodeling, and as soon as we checked in all we heard were drills, banging, and workers constantly around. At one point, a worker was right outside our window. I'm just glad we happened to be dressed. Overall, this was completely unacceptable. Between the poor room conditions, the noise, the privacy concerns, and being charged for something I didn't use, I will not be staying at this property -- or any Hilton hotel -- again. Very unprofessional on every level.

A few things to keep in mind, it is on eastern time zone, that's important if you're driving from the central time zone! Rob was gracious when I was running late to check in. A great place to relax and unwind after a busy day of play, shopping, or in my case working. Lounge by the amazing pool or gather with friends and family at the fire pit, or take a nap in the hammocks! The worst part was the management- outwardly rude, arrogant, and abrasive towards guests. Very strange behavior from them, would not recommend. Would definitely not recommend- especially if you are traveling with children.
