If you're someone looking for an elevated dining experience, namely entrees and appetizers that don't taste like bland sysco/big distributor bundles, this is not the place for you. If they are not using big distributors, then they have bigger issues to worry about because the food is honestly not good and overpriced; one shouldn't pay that much money for inferior food. The "brown butter" gnocchi dish was a 4/10 and seemed out of place with the other items on the confusing menu (no real theme or pattern to the food offered). The service was horrendous too, in case you were wondering. To the owner or managers who should have/should be doing this: go sit at every table and order food if the menu; notice the little problems at each: the chairs being too narrow on the patio (i'm not even a chud so idk how heavier folks manage this), the tables being not level, the soggy Caesar salads and appetizers falling off the cheap plates that are too small/the wrong shape for the food item....get a notepad and write down the issues. Little things like this influence your guests stay and experience and it is not difficult to fix them. There is such potential at this place and the owners need to get better, elevated, and high quality items on the menu with real chefs to see it through. Not fine dining per se but an exceptionally fine experience that makes the hike to Salem County entirely worth the petrol. A cozy, picturesque location offers a "greatest hits" liquor-first menu of burgers, steaks, chops with Asian-fusion afterburners. Certainly not what I was expecting but I really liked the mash-up. Some our meal was misunderstood but the meal still turned out well and we flowed with the waiter. The bread & mixed oil they start you off with is perfect starter. The oil has an Italian vibe with no pepper flakes. Broccoli cheddar soup is a full hearty bowl and pairs nicely with the flakey bread. We were seated in the most gorgeous area outdoors. We had a sunset view and water view. The service was surprisingly fast and welcoming! I absolutely loved the food . The last time I went to Lake House was April 3, 2025. I have been there before, plenty of times. The location is stellar, the views are stunning, and the layout of the restaurant and bars are ideal. The view from the back bar is amazing. The new-ish outside patio/bar/seating area was the smartest option for that space. Really, you have to see it all to believe it. I'm a simple man, so I would venture to say the place is rather fancy, but not uptight. The menu offers some seriously gourmet dinners, but also other fare that isn't so upscale, if you will. I sometimes stop after work for a late night chicken BLT and a few beers. See? Simple. The service is excellent. I love that when I walk in, the person managing the front desk can tell me if there's room for me at the back bar. Neat! I don't make it here often, but often enough to know that I'll come back as much as possible. Yes, I recommend you give the Lake House an opportunity to WOW you! read more

When using a gift card at The Lake House, the staff treated it as a credit card and charged an extra 3.5 % the same as if it was a Visa etc. When questioned, the answer was it's our policy. I really disagree that a gift card should be treated as if it was a credit card, that $100 gift card is only worth $96.50. Stopped by on the way back from Cape May - worth the trip! Great Lake front location. We sat outdoors but there are lots of inside seating and bar areas. We had a steak salad and prime rib sandwich. Both very good. Service was also excellent. One comment - the steak salad was served in a huge deep bowl. We had to ask for another plate so you could get to all the ingredients and slice the steak. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Surely worth a visit. read more

They accept reservations by phone or online. I recently went with a party of 8 so I made a reservation. We were easily accommodated. The food was delicious. I had the grilled shrimp spinach salad, and have to give them credit for good-sized portions. There was a decent amount of shrimp and bacon on the salad, but it was really pretty salty. I wanted to try the chili lime dressing, but it (sadly) wasn't very good. It turned out to be more like ranch with no heat to speak of, and no hint of lime either. On the other end of the spectrum, the cheesesteak nachos were a hit. The caramelized onions made the dish absolutely delicious. We got really good service, both from the bar and our waitress. Zero complaints there, and props to the friendly wait staff. If you dine in the evening, the amber lighting isn't great. I noticed some people having to use the light on their phone to read the menu. If you're there for a romantic dinner, it's more appropriate, with the lake view and open flame candles on the table. There's also a bar area where it appears that regulars enjoy hanging out on game nights. Local rumor has it that the place is haunted, so head out there while it's Halloween season, and you might get a little thrill into the bargain! read more

Just happened upon this restaurant while visiting in NJ via Google. The atmosphere is awesome, the veggie burger and fries were delicious. My daughter ordered flatbread, parmesan risotto, and steamed broccoli. Everything was delicious, but the service was a bit slow, even though it wasn't crowded on a Tuesday night. Ordered dessert to go, when I checked the bag, it didn't look like what we were shown. When we finally flagged down our waitress, she took it back, just to bring it back to say they ran out of churro's. IT WAS A CHURRO CAKE! Noodles had a funky smell, the chicken was less than a 1/4" thick, burnt crust on bottom and when they put the noodles and marinara on it was very watery which water logged the burnt, skinny, rubbery chicken. On a Sunday evening we decided on a whim we wanted to go out to dinner somewhere we haven't gone in a while. We checked a few spots and no one had availability, so we decided to check Lake House. They had reservations available and without realizing they close at 8, we made 7 pm reservations. We were sat immediately and there were only 3 other tables dining inside. The outside had live music and seemed pretty busy, but we realized they were closing in an hour and decided to make our choices fast. We started with drinks, I got a dragonfruit mojito and everyone else got white sangria, and cheesesteak egg rolls. The cheesesteak egg rolls had great presentation, and were really good. They had green pepppers inside, which are not typical for cheesesteak egg rolls, but were a welcome addition. For our entrees we were kind of all over the place. I got the braised short rib and penne, which came with a side Caesar salad, and the rest of our party got the prime rib sandwich with waffle fries, and the three cheese chicken pesto spinach flatbread. I had the opportunity to try everything and I have to say I was impressed. The short ribs were great and the only thing I would change is a different type of pasta other than penne, like an orechettie, the flatbread was huge and had great flavor, the waffle fries were super crispy, and the sandwich was great dipped in the au jus. We opted to split the brownie bomb for dessert and we came to a consensus. We need to come to Lake House more often. I can't wait to go back and try the short rib sandwich or guiness sliders. read more
