I've had many lovely dinners at the Grill but tonight was definitely an exception. The pasta Alfredo was so awful. It came out looking like an overflowing cheesy creamy soup. Very unappetizing looking. You couldn't even see the pasta. It tasted like a jar Alfredo sauce and lots of it. I have had this dish there before and it was always delicious. I asked for asparagus on top instead of a protein. They cut the asparagus into pea size pieces so I couldn't even taste them. They never should have let that bowl leave the kitchen! We were there on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The staff were extra friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating is dog friendly. We had the macadamia crusted haddock for $23 - it was not very bland - Breading didn't have much flavor, and the sauce that came with that was watery and had no taste. It wasn't served with lemons. We asked for some other kind of sauce that would be good with fish and some tartar sauce & lemon as well. It was a little bit better, but not too much. It was served with white rice with a few pieces of fresh cilantro on the top.... That didn't have any flavor either we added some salt and pepper to see what we could do - even some tartar sauce, but it was kind of a lost cause. This is usually served with a side of asparagus, but they were out, so we had fries- The fries were good. We've had the crabcakes for $22. They weren't horrible. Just not a lot of flavor. Once again, we asked for lemon tartar sauce, and more of the garlic aïoli-but even that had no flavor. This is also typically served with asparagus I had broccoli instead. I give them a star for service and ambience, and one for food. We have been here before but just for a happy hour and we had a good experience so we're going to give it another try. read more

Excruciatingly disappointed with what was supposed to be a special meal. Entire party left feeling upset after waiting almost 2 hours to be served. Elderly ailing parent had been looking forward to dinner with family here for weeks- seated at 5:30 on a weekday and ordered as soon as someone would take our order. Took ages to get drinks and appetizer came out after 6pm, with only one beverage refill over the course of 2 hours. After 7pm, 4 of the 7 meals trickled out and we were told the other 3 (including the ailing parent and a toddler waiting patiently for a kids meal) would be out soon. After 20 minutes the 3 remaining meals still had not been served and when kindly asked when the rest of the food would come out a server very angrily & defensively argued that "the hot food had to come out first, we are very busy". You kidding me? We are steps from the kitchen and you serve half of the table and the rest has to wait almost 30 minutes to get their food? After being dismissed by the servers (still waiting on 2 meals) and asking to talk to the manager repeatedly, she continued to hide in the kitchen. When she finally came out she complained that it was trivia night and that was as good as they could do. The wait time for food is one thing, but serving half the table and being irritated when asked when the other half of the meals would arrive (you guys all see the child and man in a wheelchair still waiting!) is out of control. The manager assured us she "would take care of it" and then came back later with around 30% off the check. Really negative experience, had heard good things about their food but without a doubt not worth it. Needed that time to be a nice dinner together and management really dropped the ball. Went on a Wednesday for lunch and they were slammed with large groups. Had to park across the street as the lord were full. There was a slight wait for the table but we were seated on the screened porch. The server was great and the hostess checked back twice (so apologetic for the wait). This was our second visit to the Waterfront Grill but it will definitely not be our last. Both times the food was outstanding. I am now officially hooked on their grouper sandwich, especially with the asparagus - perfectly prepared. My wife has some mobility issues and Slade came to our rescue. Service was attentive without being invasive. Jay, our waiter, was there when we needed him and not there when we just wanted to enjoy the fantastic views from the second-floor dining room. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, which were delicious, $13.99, a little pricey, but sea scallops are expensive to begin with. Then we ordered the Cesar salad with salmon and the Strawberry avocado salad. Both were delicious. Adding the salmon to the salad was an extra $8.00, which made for an expensive salad. The drinks were reasonably priced. The staff members were all very nice and accommodating. Would definitely eat there again. The food was excellent. I had a Greek Salad with chicken and it was THE BEST. My husband had the Swamp Fries and our friends had the crabcake dinner. It was all great! Nice to sit on the patio in the shade and enjoy the breeze off the lake on a sunny, mild Friday. The restaurant is clean, has a small list of craft beers, and a decent menu. The location and views were great. Restaurant was clean and well decorated. We had very high hopes. Unfortunately, the food was not very good. We ordered the chicken and Maui sandwiches. The buns were not toasted and not super fresh either. Fresh, toasted buns would have made a huge difference. The pineapple on the chicken sandwich was not grilled as specified, chicken was over cooked and dry, and it really could have used some more sauce. The Maui was sadly not fresh and tasted awful. My husband and I are new residents of Mount Dora and found this waterfront gem while exploring the surrounding areas. Fantastic sunset views with large outdoor patio. The gentlemen working the host stand was very kind. They have a great sized bar and upstairs dining area. We visited on a Sunday night and Samantha was our server. She was friendly, professional and upbeat. We loved being able to enjoy a breeze from the waterfront. They just added a smaller sized outside bar area by the marina which we will def try next time. We enjoyed the steak bites as an app. Portion size was good, there were a few chewy pieces but overall good flavor. I enjoyed the grilled haddock which I can never find here in Florida! My husband said his burger was prepared to the correct temp and had good flavor, fries were good. We will def be back and look forward to this being a regular spot to enjoy. read more
