It was such a lovely day out
    Patricia R.

We finally found a nice dog park to bring my parents dog where she could get accustomed to being out and about. We stayed within the small dog area more since she isn't very comfortable around much larger dogs. It was nice to see lots of water bowls ready for them to drink water from and a spot to bathe your dog if it goes into the lake. We walked over to the small dog fenced area where we sat beneath the largest oak tree in have seen. It was nice to enjoy the day out with my parents and their lovely Boston Terrier.

Lake Baldwin has become part of my weekly routine and it's one of my favorite places to exercise. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful, with water views and lots of nature along the trail, so the walk never feels repetitive. The loop is about 2.5 miles, which is perfect -- going around twice makes a great 5 mile workout without it feeling super heavy or tiring. The atmosphere is very welcoming and family friendly. You'll see people walking, jogging, biking, rollerblading, or out with their dogs, and everyone is respectful of space and pace. It's lively without being overcrowded, which I really appreciate. Whether you're exercising, getting steps in, or just want a nice outdoor reset, it's a great spot to move your body and enjoy the fresh air. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a calm but active environment to get a walk or run in.

Small area, but an overall nice place that only enhances the area. Lake Baldwin Park Conservation Area is basically a walking path that falls between the condos and Lake Baldwin. I would definitely recommend here.

From WWII until the 1990's, the area that is now Baldwin Park was owned by the US military. In 1942 the Orlando Army Air Station was established and it encompassed what is now the Orlando Executive Airport, Baldwin Park, Audubon Park, the Fashion Square Mall, and the Koger Office Center. In the early 1960's the air station closed and the land was used as a Navy training center that trained over 650,000 recruits. In 1993 the base was closed leaving a 1,000 acre hole right near downtown Orlando. The land was turned over for community and economic development. The Lake Baldwin neighborhood takes its name from Robert H. Baldwin, who helped establish the naval training center in Orlando. The Lake Baldwin neighborhood was developed in 2007 and has won many awards including accolades from the National Association of Home Builders, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. The pristine neighborhood includes 15 different house styles including cottages, bungalows, and manor homes. The Lake Baldwin neighborhood is located on the shore of Lake Baldwin, one of two lakes on the former military property. Lake Baldwin Park is one of the parks located on the shores of Lake Baldwin. The park covers over 23 acres and offers gorgeous views of Lake Baldwin. This is the only dog friendly park in Winter Park and dogs are allowed off leash from 6 AM until sunset. Park amenities include restrooms, benches, picnic tables, fishing pier, playground, and a boat ramp for non motorized boats. I enjoyed riding my daughter's new Lectric e bike around the Lake Baldwin Jogging Trail which runs the perimeter of Lake Baldwin and connects this park to Harbor Park. There is a lot of fun and recreation to be had for both people and pups at Lake Baldwin Park.

Searching for True Love & Forgiveness? Talk to GOD and get a DOG! #ReflectDogs Love & Forgiveness This is probably one of the top 25 dog parks in the country, well at least out of the couple thousand I've been to. When you see how big the open area is you have to realize that the wooded area is about twice that size. The only complaint I could find in the reviews was somebody that didn't have very good recall of their dog or they were afraid to let their dog play with all the other Dogs? There is actually a bathroom that you can get into from inside the dog park there are multiple dual gate entries as well as plenty of parking. But be prepared to spend a few hours

I've been to Lake Baldwin Park many times. It's one of my favorite places to go bike riding. I would often come here right after work especially during the colder months. It was such a nice way to relax and unwind after a stressful day. I tend to be picky about the places I go bike riding, I want to be sure that it's safe and I've never had an issue here. Before this whole Covid thing started they used to do the first Friday of the month street fair and that was probably the best time to go bike riding because you'd get your exercise done and then see the street fair afterwards. The allure for me apart from the very nice natural scenery that the trail has to offer is also the restaurants and shops nearby as well. They've even added an independently owned brewery that has really good beer. Its nice to see people out in about, it brings a certain sense of normalcy. Apart from the bike trail, there's a dog park that seems to be very nice, a regular park where small children can entertain themselves, and a small little boardwalk that leads out into the water. I even saw a couple get married on that little board walk, it's very picturesque and lends itself as a romantic venue.

Lake Baldwin Park sits on the opposite side of Lake Baldwin if you're looking at it from Baldwin Park business area. There is a path that goes around the entire lake that leads to this park. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to walk there from New Broad Street. There is also a small parking lot if you wish to drive right up. There's a fenced in playground with swings on one side and a fenced in dog park on the other. Trees are plentiful. A bathroom and water fountain can be found next to the parking lot. The park backs right up on the lake and makes for a nice setting. There is even a boat ramp (no gas engines). What a wonderful, shady park near Baldwin Park!

Lake Baldwin Park is one of my absolute favorite places to go for a walk, get some fresh air and just mentally. For me, it's my favorite due to a variety of factors. First, it's a paved walk, which is a MUST if you're going on a walk with a stroller. Second, it's not an insanely long walk, I believe it's a few miles if you go around the lake once and I enjoy the view along with all the friendly folks you encounter. Third, there's a cute little area to rest, take pictures or even step out and grab a bite to eat. I do, however, recommend going early on a weekend before the heat is in full effect. As a bonus, this park has a couple of options you might not find elsewhere. There is a kids playground with swings and a playing area, which is great if you have children. I like taking my little one here to get on the swings. There is also a dog park available on the premises and if I had a furry little one I'd definitely take them there. They even have a section where you can clean your dog's paws after a day full of playing & running around.

Such a cute spot to take the pups! So relaxing and plenty of shade. They even have a little soo to rinse the dogs off.

I believe that this is the largest lake in Winter Park & one of the largest in Orlando & there is something for everyone in Lake Baldwin Park. A nice sized playground, bathrooms, water fountains, dog park, exercise trail, benches, boat ramp, walking path, nearby dining spots, native plantings, signage with horticultural info, & a small, wooded area with so much Spanish moss that you will think you are momentarily in the jungle. There are two walkways that lead out to the gazebos overlooking the lake (non-gas-powered boats are allowed here, but no swimming). It's a good destination.

Ask the Community - Lake Baldwin Park

Is it safe enough to take your dog off the leash? My dog is a runner and loves running away. Can she escape?

Most dog are off leash and seem perfectly fine. Plenty of space and surrounding got fence. Just make sure they don't swim off

Is there a basketball court here or a place to play bocce ball or kick a ball around, activities for not only dogs but people to? Can people go in the water with their dogs?

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
