Very nice community park bisected by a rail line. A good bit of open grassy areas, dotted by fountains, shrubbery and walkways throughout. It runs along Park Avenue which is somewhat of an upscale shopping and restaurant district. Nice for a stroll, a meal, and some window shopping. Worth the drive.

The park was deeded to the city by one of its earliest benefactors, Chicago Industrialist, Charles Hosmer Morse. He donated Central Park to the town, but only so long as it is kept as a park. Central Park will revert to Mr. Morse's heirs if the town uses the property in any way other than as a public park. Running along Central Park is Park Avenue, a street lined with cute cafe's and interesting shops. SunRail operates a rail line through Winter Park on the former Atlantic Coast Line which brought the first pioneers to the area. There is an Amtrak and SunRail commuter rail station located in Central Park. The 11 acre park itself is large and open with towering trees, beautiful fountains, and inviting benches. My favorite part is the exquisite rose garden with the peacock fountain at the southern border of the park. It's perfect for taking pictures. Many events and activities are held here throughout the year including the annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, and the Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration. A visit to Winter park would not be complete without a stroll through this historic gem.

Central Park is located in Winter Park's trendy Park Avenue shopping area and offers a nice spot to take a break from shopping or to let yourself relax after a fine meal at one if the bounty of restaurants here. You can even chill here waiting to catch a train as the Winter Park SunRail train station connects to it. If you are seeking a spot to lose yourself in nature, this is not the place, it is little more than an open area with a few benches, fountains, and a nice little rose garden. But it is a great spot to stroll, to step away from the shops and restaurants and grab a bench for a few minutes. To sum it up, this park is a great fit for this neighborhood.

Central Park in Winter Park is a great way to spend some time outside in the Florida sunshine! There is a big open field with shade, benches, and a stage for events. It's nice to lay out a blanket in the grassy area and people watch. Make a visit to the rose garden when the flowers are in season. My go-to parking area is in the garage behind Panera. I usually patronize Panera and use their restrooms as well. Keep in mind there are rules on where and how long you can park in this garage. You can also test your parallel parking skills on Park Avenue. Surprisingly no dogs are allowed in the park area, but you'll see plenty of furry animals on Park Ave.

Really scenic, well kept park in the heart of downtown Winter Park. I especially love all of the varied plants from different sponsors in the area, from community organizations to corporations. The park itself is always kept up and clean. From time to time they have 5ks start and end runs here, which makes for a very scenic run. Plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes are close by to grab a cool drink or refuel. I suggest 310 South for a stuffed burger, fries and a cocktail! Panera also makes a good to go option if you prefer to picnic in the park without bringing anything to lug around. Overall: A Smaller park, but plenty of fun!

I absolutely love how beautiful and open this park is in the heart of Downtown Winter Park! Even though there's lots of traffic on either side and there's the constant hustle and bustle of pedestrians and shoppers going to and from the many restaurants and shops that line the streets, when you step into this park, you feel a sense of peace and calm. Things just kinda slow down as you walk the paths and see people reading on the benches or enjoying the sun on the grassy lawns. The rose garden has a decent amount of rose varieties and in the middle, is a beautiful peacock fountain. Around the park is also a variety of local artwork that is displayed, some of which puts me in the fall/holiday mood. This park is perfect for relaxing, perfect for working up an appetite before you go to the many restaurants in the area, or perfect for walking off that oncoming food coma after a hearty meal. This park is well worth spending some time here :)

One of my favorite "city parks" is this one. First off, it is within Winter Park's Antique District, which is a beautiful place to be. Secondly, it's in front of the Train Station, steps away from several shops and well known restaurants, has gorgeous gardens, including a breathtaking rose garden, a VERY appealing and romantic scenery ;) and it's walking distance from Winter Park's Historic Museum, Rollins College (maybe about 5 blocks) and Winter Parks' small, but popular Farmer's Market (only open on Saturdays). Definitely a fan!!

2017's Yelp 100 Challenge 1/100- 4th time here and I absolutely love it! The shops, park, people, and events are always delightful to see and there is always something fun to do. The last time I was here I visited Rocket Fizz and several other shops, this day, my sister and I were trying to find a gift for our mother so that she could have a little bit of Orlando at home in North Carolina. We found the perfect picture frame at one of the cute boutiques and then we visited a French pastry shop where we noshed on macarons and enjoyed the koi fish. We also wandered down beautiful alleyways and found cafes, bookstores, and even just quiet areas full of light for some perfect photo ops. I love Central Park in Winter Park, everyone should visit!

After Sunday buffet lunch at Mynt, walked down to this park and it was a revelation! I've been to this park before, but they've made improvements and it looks so pretty and green. The variety of plants was just amazing and I saw butterflies!! I really loved the whimsical and practical artwork - there was this pile of pillows that just invited you to have a pillow fight (unfortunately they were made of this strong fiberglass material so couldn't really do so). I also liked another piece that was three stools which invited you to sit on and pretty much all the artwork was interactive, which I loved! Great spot for sun worshippers, dog walkers, kids, and will be back!

This is one of my favorite grassy areas here in Orlando. It's large, easy to access, and near so many other beloved Winter Park destinations--the Farmer's Market, the Golf Course, Park Ave., Hannibal Square, restaurants, shops, etc.. Plus, this is the spot where you can catch a summertime Popcorn Flick. It's also located next to the train station. They are benches a plenty and a fountain in the center. Many trees adorn the lawns and windy paths will guide your way. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to bring your pet with you. Good for your shoes, but bad for your pooch. It's a nice place to come with a picnic basket, a book, or your sweetie. Next time you are in the area, take the time to stroll through, you'll be glad you did.

Love this park! The rose garden is beautiful and the food assortment across the stress is unbeatable in the area. Last night I was at a movie in the park...My friends and I brought mats to lay on, the weather was nice, and we all had a really good time. During Christmas time it's especially beautiful!

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
