Night blooming cereus on a tree

I have been going to mead botanical gardens for years. My favorite time to go is during the Night blooming Cercus. It only blooms one night each year and is absolutely beautiful.

This is a very beautiful garden with lots of paths to explore. Camelias were in full bloom when I went and they were so gorgeous. There's lots of varieties of plants and flowers. I noticed a yoga class taking place and some people had picnics or were walking their dogs or riding bikes, so it was nice to see that there's so much anyone can do here and explore.

This is such a gorgeous little spot to come with family and enjoy the area. Came to have a cute little picnic and nothing beats the nice wind, beautiful scenery, and sound of quiet and nature. They even have a cute little lake to sit by with picnic tables and big chairs.

You've gotta soak in wild Florida moments whenever and wherever you can, and Mead's beautiful botanical park and garden is a delightful little place to do it! It's tucked into Winter Park and filled with bird watchers, yoga groups, and individuals just looking for some peace. I swear I see something new every time I go. There's always little magically moments that seem straight out of a fairytale. Last time, I even came face to face with a woodpecker in the mulberry tree. I felt like a damn Disney Princess.

This is an excellent place for a picnic or to bring your dog, but the trails are a bit muddy and wonky. There aren't as many flowers or decor to see for a botanical garden. Feels more like your typical Florida swampy trail. It is a great place for performances and events as they have 2 outdoor stages. :)

This is hands down the best free experience you can get. Beautiful nature trails and gorgeous plants in bloom. It's peaceful and serene

Small and wild, it has so many varieties, a great place for green thumbs. Me has non but still enjoyed it. Many volunteers are working there, who are friendly and talkative, even thanking us for feeding the mosquitos ha ha ha. Ops I only managed to kill one, unintentionally, as I was scratching my itchy leg.

As an out-of-town traveler looking to kill some time, I loved this little park. There are some pretty gardens that were in bloom even in January. There is a man made creek and pond. I saw turtles, a painted bunting, a great egret and a little blue heron at the pond. It's peaceful to stroll.

Situated near winter springs is this massive park with so much to do. We started the morning by walking the entire perimeter of the park and were in pure amazement. Afterwards we went and watched the turtles go in and out of their homes. The park is so beautiful and well maintained. The perfect place to bring friends or family to have a gathering, bbq, or party. Plenty of flowers for anyone who loves color, and a huge field to toss a ball or frisbee, and beautiful ponds for anyone looking for wet nature. We had such a good afternoon that we lost track of time and missed our lunch reservation.

Today, my work held a training at the Azalea Lodge and it was a great location! There was enough room to sit about 100 participants and the chairs were comfortable for the 6 hours we were sitting in them. The only complaint, is the WiFi connection was not able to handle that many people on it. Other than that, it was a great place to host a work event! I spaced on getting picture from inside, but I did snap one right outside the lodge as it was too beautiful to miss!

First time coming here, I definitely wanted to get away from alot of the touristy overpopulated parts of the Orlando area and escape somewhere beautiful to clear my mind. Sure, it's a popular place but there was hardly any people here. This place is definitely worth coming here, there's so many amazing plants, nature and vast scenery to explore where your walk could feel like you're in a garden to a bayou to open fields. There's a garden too off in the distance. How could I forget the little theaters too for various events! My only thing I didn't like about my time here is that there seems to be old boardwalk trails but they are apparently cut off from everything and just left there rotting away. I'd like to see that hopefully reopened.

A great botanical escape in the middle of Winter Park. It's set up like Florida used to be, which I love. The amphitheater is nicely done for event or performances. The Azalea Lodge is a beautiful place for parties or receptions as well. Come for a picnic and take a long walk. Lots of hidden places to see.

A beautiful garden to explore in the area. They have a ton of beautiful local flowers and wildlife. It's a nice sized property to explore. It made me feel like we were in Jurassic park in some parts which was pre pretty neat.

Ask the Community - Mead Botanical Garden

    Can we have picnics here?

    Yes!

Is it safe during the pandemic?

There weren't many people when we went. It was nearly empty so I personally don't see a problem with going, if one does decide they want to go.

Does anyone know if Mead Botanical Garden is dog friendly?

When we were there four months ago, they were. Just need to have them on leash.

They host various exhibits at different times of the year to keep things fresh. I was there for Origami in the Garden, which ran from February to September last year, and they had 13 different origami sculptures scattered around the gardens. We got lucky for parking, which seemed plenty, but the gardens was host to several private celebratory events. The people at the welcome center were very friendly and informative, letting me know where to go and giving me useful guides. There's also a small cafe and marketplace before you make your way to the gardens. Overall, the grounds has a fair ratio of both shaded and unshaded areas with different plant species organized in some manner that goes beyond my understanding. You MUST make sure you are well protected by the UV, as it bears down. You should consider thirst quenchers, too. It wasn't too crowded, and there's plenty of semi-secluded spots for a peaceful picnic. I loved that the origami exhibits allowed us to have goals along the grounds. If I go here again, I'd be interested in touring the historic Leu house. The "secret garden" was not really anything except a bunch of foliage, in my opinion, so it was kind of a waste of time trying to find it. The map is very helpful, and the paths are distinguished enough to not get lost. It looks like they had several beautiful options for wedding venues. The Leu Gardens is a great place to pair with some downtown Orlando or Winter Park exploration.

As the name implies, this park is at its peak during azalea season, but don't be discouraged if these colorful blooms are till hidden- there is so much more to discover in this park. Take a walk along the path that meanders under the bridges and around the creek. You'll find tons of special spots where you'll want to pause, take a picture, and enjoy a moment of peace (just thinking about it is putting me in a zen mood!). The park also has a nice stage area which is small, but can be used as a wedding location (I've been a bridesmaid here!). I wouldn't recommend going to the park at night, as it doesn't have lights and can get a bit creepy, but during the day make sure to get your pup on a leash, pack a light lunch, and get ready for the best picnic ever!

Would be a nice spot with the right eye to take photos. The oaks are old and hold so much wisdom. The hard part is finding where to park. The only spot is on the side of the road. I saw people walking dogs through the park too. It's shaded and if you want sun, there are parts that the sun shines through. Enjoy!
