Blue Jacket Park is definitely one of my favorite parks to visit. It is spacious with many opportunities to engage in various activities, from working out, biking, jogging/running, walking, picnicking, yoga - you name it, you can do it. While it is a lively park and can get busy from time to time, especially on the days the run/walk clubs are there, it is usually a nice park to visit solo and enjoy the peace of the surroundings offered. There is more than enough open green space and a good amount of seating throughout the park. The park also maintains various courts/area for various sporting events like baseball, volleyball, soccer, and various other outdoor activities. As far as proximity to other areas, this park is also located a short distance from the shopping and food eateries in Baldwin Park. So, after enjoying a great workout or just strolling through the park, you can pop over to Baldwin Park for some food and beverages. The only challenge, at times, is parking. Parking in this area (in general) is just tricky; however, there is street parking throughout the neighborhood near the park as well as a designated parking lot for the park itself. However, you can also park throughout the Baldwin Park area and just walk to the park from there. Before I close this out, I've gone to numerous events in this park as well, so it is great for hosting various community events (of course, with the proper permits, etc.). All in all, Blue Jacket Park is really just a great park. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and I still love walking around this park to this day. I used to come here to play tennis as a kid. The park is also pretty fun. I can still use the swings at least! One of my favorite things to do here is to walk around the park though. It's great exercise! It used to be a Navy base long ago, with a ship for training! Now it's a park with recently added plaques and statues to honor its past. read more

This is one of the biggest and coolest parks that I enjoy going to. I've visited this park for soccer practice, grass, volleyball games, and kickball practice as well. If you're looking to get some steps in, running, and still feel secured in the neighborhood, this Park is a place to do it. It is also in close proximity to the shopping center in Baldwin Park. I really love all of the homes that surround this park is. Each is unique and beautiful in its own way. The park is well maintained for all types of activities such as baseball, volleyball, soccer like football and other outdoor activities. After a workout you can easily walk to the shopping center area and get a cup of coffee, glass of wine or some of the best sushi in Orlando. read more

I love me a good park and I have to say that Blue Jacket Park (BJP) is one of the nicest in central Florida. It checks off all of boxes for me: walkable, nice scenery, public access to a variety of sporting activities, kid-friendly, pet-friendly, visual variety, open green spaces, occasional events, and easy parking. My wife and I go here regularly for walks with our baby but I've come plenty of times in the past to play basketball, go jogging, and play tennis. I haven't been able to play as many sports recently but love that the option is available there and that the area is fairly well kept by the city. One of my favorite things to do is grab a drink from a nearby spot, like coffee at Lineage or a snack from The Salty Donut, and go for a nice, long stroll around the park. It's always so nice to see people using the park and is at its best during the fall when the weather is gorgeous and Blue Jacket is full of people enjoying the public amenities. I love going to the occasional event at the park whether it's a local makers market, or the hot air balloon festival they have there each year. I've gone to a number of parks around town and other than Barnett Park, BJP is the next best in the area if you live near downtown. Lake Eola is third in my opinion. Worth the visit if you just want to stretch your legs and be off of your phone. read more

We came to the park as part of a local escape room but this is one of the nicest parks in Florida I have been to. Such a scenic little park that seems very well maintained and super walkable. With the fountains, sports fields and courts, open plots for pets and green space, this park really has it all. We were walking around this park for about an hour just taking it all in while we were doing puzzles and I have to say that the park was better than the escape room. If me and my friend had just come to the park without the escape room, we would've liked it just as much. It was great to check this park out and next time I am in town, I will definitely hang out here again. read more

I recently stayed with my friends who live in the area, and being on a hot girl walk kick I asked if we could go on a HGW. This is SUCH a cute little park that is very clean and well manicured. You can tell the folks in the neighborhood are friendly because everyone says hello to you on your walk. It's great for people watching and also dog watching. The park is super clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. Tons of green space, shady trees, and wide-open paths -- perfect for group workouts, a solo run, or even just a peaceful walk. My first time here, I joined a walking meditation group. It's a large park and feels safe. I've since then made it a rendezvous spot for friends who live in the opposite direction from me. My only complaint is that all of the bathrooms aren't available during the day I know signage exist on the closed bathrooms and advising you of where open ones are located. read more

What a great find. I was driving by and noticed the large park with monuments and knew I had to bring my pup for a stroll here. Early on a Monday morning we visited and there was plenty of parking available. I could see a father and son throwing a baseball, a mom workout group exercising, people utilizing the public workout equipment, and many people walking their dogs. Waste stations for your dogs was provided with poo bags. There was shady sidewalk areas to keep your dogs paws nice and cool. We explored some of the different monuments on site but the large water fountain was our favorite. Beautiful spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. I can see this being a great location for photos or nice picnic setup. Sports fields are also located here. This is close by to Winter Park, Baldwin Park, and sits at an intersection with a traffic light for easy access. I plan on my next visit to be a picnic with friends to enjoy the great weather! read more

Blue Jacket Park used to be the old navy training center. In 2000 the city designated 75 acres as a public park. The park hosts events like birthday celebrations, weddings , company picnics and fund raising walks/runs. In addition to soccer area, baseball field , softball field, playground and workout areas there is a Navy History Wall to enjoy. The memorial wall has ten panels that gives you the Navy's history in Orlando. My grandson's love to burn off energy running around what feels like endless green space and the playground. read more

Lovely park that has something for everyone! Plenty of walking trails and seemingly dog friendly. Tree shaded areas and of course sports facilities for just about everything. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamond, and soccer field, and a track and field space as well. Does look to get a bit busy and there is no reservation system to my knowledge for these spaces so arrive early if you want access. The park looked clean and well kept. I didn't use the restrooms but there were several located throughout. There was a nice amount of parking available as well. Definitely nice for families, athletes, or anyone looking to enjoy a nice day. read more

Blue Jacket Park is a park that spans across the borderlines of Baldwin Park, Winter Park, and Audubon Park. The park has large open fields, a lit circular walking trail, two bathrooms, one playground, three baseball diamonds, three basketball courts, three tennis courts, a public track, and several seating areas throughout. It's home to two gazebos where cookouts or gatherings can happen! What I love most about this park is it's versatility. With all sporting areas in one section and the other being this large open wide field that can be used for everything and anything. Which is exactly what it is used for during the Orlando Balloon Glow. Where once a year there are mini balloon rides where you go up and come back down. Blue Jacket Park is also home to many fitness groups like track shack running groups, Pilates in the morning, and tennis coaches for advance individual lessons. Overall if your looking to get some fresh air this park is definitely worth the drop by! read more

I find this to be a very nice park. I've been coming here a few times per week to enjoy fresh air, sunshine and get a little exercise. The park offers something for most everyone. There is decent amount of parking. For hanging out, there is a nice solid pavilion and a few park benches scattered around. For fitness, there is a sufficient pathway for waking, running, cycling, etc., bars for strength exercises, a track and tennis courts. You'll even find grassy areas for lounging or other activities. This is one of my favorite parks in Orlando! It's a great place for an evening stroll with your pup or for your next photo shoot (the steps by the fountain and the cute bridge are a great place to start). There's plenty of walking paths and fields for sports/recreational activities. I've noticed lots of people playing soccer and volleyball here on the weekends. There are also basketball courts, baseball fields, a running track, and tennis courts, playgrounds for kids, and picnic pavilions throughout the park. I've seen lots of family gathering and birthday parties being hosted here as well. The park is very clean and the bathrooms are well maintained. There is ample parking in the lot as well as multiple areas around the perimeter. You'll come across lots of folks walking their dogs here, especially since it borders the Baldwin Park neighborhood. They even have doggie poo bags readily available throughout the park so that you can clean up after your pup (very much appreciated). I'm trying to make our evening walks more of a routine and this is always my go-to spot! read more

Blue Jacket Park is a wonderful oasis in an ever growing city. There is a fountain, walkways, athletic fields, pavilions, and more to give people in the community a nice respite from the concrete and asphalt of man's creation and allow the simple pleasure of walking in that which was created before us. We need places like this, a place to feel a bond with nature, to not feel overwhelmed by a world that is being transformed more and more into urban sprawl. We need a place to be, to unwind, to enjoy either solitude or to gather with those family or friends and celebrate life. This park offers such a respite. I recommend a visit. read more

For 30 years the land this park is on was a naval training base. During that time the boot camp launched 625,000 military careers and trained sailors in electronics maintenance, navigation, nuclear power, and fleet weapon systems. In 1973 Orlando was the sole site of recruit training for enlisted women. The thousands of service personnel trained here were known as Blue Jackets. The last 459 recruits graduated on December 2, 1994 and the command closed on March 31, 199 In 2000, 75 acres of this historic site was designated as a park. To commemorate it's history, a 10 panel Navy history wall was added to the park. The Memorial Wall tells the story of the Navy's history in Orlando. The panel describes what it was like to be a recruit, a female Blue Jacket, and what the Navy is doing In Orlando today. In 2018 a bronze statue of a woman in a Navy uniform called The BlueJacket Recruit was added to the park to honor the 188,000 female recruits who graduated from the nation's first co-Ed boot camp. The statue stands next to one added in 2016 called the Lone Sailor of a male seaman waiting for his ship to come in. The history wall, statues, pier monument and compass rose are located at the south end of Blue Jacket Park along with the baseball fields. Other park amenities include grills, trails for walking, biking, and jogging, picnic tables and pavilions, playgrounds, restrooms, exercise stations, lighted athletic fields, tennis courts, and open space. Many events like 5K runs, birthday parties, and weddings are held here. This is the perfect place to exercise, take the kids to play, picnic, attend events, or just reflect on the sacrifices o our men and women in the military have made to keep our country safe. read more

5 Stars for a gorgeous park with sports courts and fields that are free. I've been to Blue Jacket Park for relaxing with a picnic blanket, sketching the fountain, and also to use their tennis courts. But there is so much more to do at BJP. Along with the tennis courts (free, but first come/first served), they have 4 full size basketball courts, a baseball field, and a track. The park is always bustling, particularly the basketball courts in the evenings where it looks like tons of people meet up for vociferous and enthusiastic pick-up games. It's fun to watch, even if you aren't playing. The bball courts are right next to the tennis courts. There are only three tennis courts but I haven't waited for more than 20 minutes for a court since there's a 1.5 hr courtesy limit. Though they aren't the most beautiful courts, they are free, and that makes them 5 stars to me! The park is otherwise scattered with families during the weekend and even more-so during one of the community events. I so appreciate the ability and access to affordable courts! read more

I come to this park a lot actually. Either when I'm riding my bike around the Baldwin Park vicinity, or when my friend and I meet up to play tennis. It's very well kept, pretty, and its got everything you want in a park including a race track! Like I previously stated; I come sometimes to play tennis and their courts are well kept. Sometimes all the courts are taken so you'll have to wait. They have lights that come on during the evening so the sun setting wont ruin your game. I'm not 100% sure if you can grill at this park, but they do have picnic pavilions. read more

Super spacious park with a good amount of people so it doesn't feel empty when you're there. My boyfriend and I go there for the tennis courts 2-3 times a week and usually don't run into any issues of grabbing a court. There's 3 tennis courts that have lights and are open late. If you want to go and 100% get a court, go after 8pm or on a weekend. read more

A wonderful park with tons and tons of green space and walking/biking/running/dog walking friendly sidewalks! We've walked this park and also attended several 5ks here. The only issue here is that the parking nearby is limited when it gets busy. When there is an event or run the parking goes quick. I recommend you allow ample time before hand to arrive early to get a decent spot. The green area has some areas that allow dogs, but they are completely welcome on sidewalks. They ask that you, of course, clean up after them if needed. There are trash cans every few hundred feet. Overall: A Parking can get tricky but otherwise an excellent park for just about anything! read more

This place is a breath of fresh air! The wide open space is filled with beautiful trees to complete the scenery. It is a good environment to just relax after taking a few laps around the park. There are quite a few playgrounds at this location that are open to the public of course. There are also a few designated areas to practice sports if you have the time. The basketball court seems to be the one being utilized the most. Another part that draws people in is the fountain As well as the bridge were some prom goers will take their pictures when it's the season for it. Overall this park is very relaxing and has quite a few benches to sit in the sun or shade as well. It also seems to be a wonderful place to have a picnic or bbq. read more

We had my friends after memorial gathering here. Her family set up food and drinks and music for all of the attendees of the memorial. Besides my own family serving us Sonny's for after a funeral, this was the biggest meal I'd had after something like that. The park was very easy to find. Parking was a breeze and you could see the area they were in from where we parked. It was overcast that day and drizzled some. But the rain held out so we could visit and chat with everyone. I met most of my friends family. I wanted to thank them, but I get really awkward in those situations. I already felt bad I was late to the memorial. But they said it doesn't matter, at least I showed up. I hope to go to this park again on a not so sad day so I can fully enjoy it with my daughter. read more

This is a really great city park commemorating the over 600,000 men and women who trained and graduated from Navy Basic Training (RTC) in Orlando from 1968 until 1995. The park now has baseball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas, and soccer fields. It's huge, open fields also serve as hosts to fitness groups and family reunions. What a beautiful, sunny park for a quiet retreat or an exciting event, all located in a great part of town. ALL NAVY PERSONNEL: There's a new statue (April 2018) in recognition of the female sailors who attended training here. There is a Recruit Training Command (RTC) Orlando Reunion held every 2 years on even years (began in 2016). It's open to US Navy graduates and family of RTC Orlando. Between 100-200 men and women attended the 2018 reunion who shared memories and photos of their time in Orlando and of serving in the US Navy. Events included outings, games, local tours and special guest presentations. Guest speakers included retired Captains and a serving Navy Admiral. This is another great park inside the Baldwin Park community that you can go to exercise or other activities with your friends or family. They have a really nice sidewalk for bikes, rollerblading, jogging etc. They have playgrounds for kids as well as other sports fields and even a fountain to relax and read a book if you wanted to. They also do plenty of events in this park when coronavirus is not happening. read more

Great park and one of my favorite places to go for a run. If you want to get a track workout in, you can hit up the track. It does get busy sometimes with various groups out there but never had a problem using the track. There's also some good shade and very close to lake Baldwin. There are a couple of baseball fields, restrooms, and water fountains. I've also seen boot camp classes and small groups doing yoga. The park is safe and there is plenty of parking. I also have run through the surrounding neighborhood. You can actually get a hill workout right here in central Florida (next to Lake Sue). Overall a great park and one of my favorites in the area. read more

I like to start my jog here and then continue running to the trail on the lake. There's restrooms, water fountains and a playground too. Right now, there's some construction going on. There is plenty of parking here at this dog-friendly park. They have public restrooms and water fountains for their visitors, including short fountains for your furry friend. You'll see people running around the track at every time of the day, as well as little leagues playing on the baseball fields and groups playing soccer in the open field. Parking is abundant, but if you go when all of the fields, track, and basketball courts are being used, you might have to park in the Glenridge Middle School lot adjacent to the basketball courts. The park is about 2/3 of a mile from Lake Baldwin & Fleet Peeples Park, so it's a great place to go for a run or walk your dog if you want to get some miles in! read more

As a runner Blue Jacket Park is one of my favorite spots in Orlando. One full loop around the park is equivalent to one mile. Perfect for counting miles without the need of a fancy GPS watch. The park also offers a track for speed work and easily connects to Lake Baldwin. You can start at Blue Jacket Park, run a straight shot to Lake Baldwin, and complete beautiful 2.5 mile loops around the lake. Blue Jacket Park also offers vast amounts of open green grass that are perfect for picnics or playing touch football with friends. The park offers plenty of restroom and drinking facilities and is very dog friendly. I live a good distance from the park, but I always find it's worth the drive. Especially for those 6:30am marathon training runs, you are always sure to see another runner so you will never feel alone. read more
