Blue Jacket Park is located in Baldwin Park, formerly the Naval Training Center. This park is about as wholesome as they get- lots of open green space, happy people and their dogs and/or children, little league baseball games, etc. The park gives you a great sense of community with so many people utilizing the place. The evenings I'm there I see people everywhere using the basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, track and open spaces. I know that the park is host to several events throughout the year also. The park is fairly new and well maintained. There are a handful of well lit, clean bathrooms and the landscape is well manicured. The fountain was kind of gross one night full of bubbles and enormous dead moths. My one complaint would be that they add a more modern playground. They have a retro one now, which is great, but too small. They actually still have an old fashioned merry-go-round and this huge aluminum slide (stuff they've outlawed in more recent parks because some kid somewhere got hurt even though we all grew up playing on this stuff...). read more

Blue Jacket Park is located within Baldwin Park, but it's part of the City of Orlando. It's probably the biggest park in the city without a lake on it. I mostly use the park as part of my jogging routine. I'll jog along it's paved sidewalks, the track next to Glenridge Middle School, but also along the dirt hilly parts, which I like to use as training for mud runs. The vast grassy areas are used by people playing all sorts of sports, like flag football. And there are 3 fenced in baseball fields (a reservation is needed), about 4 full length basketball courts, tennis courts, and a kids playground (that needs some needed upgrading). Mostly in the evening, I'll see little league teams playing here, and they have a concession stand open for them. And boot camps have setup shop by the fountain. There are bathrooms, but I'm confused by them, because I never, ever, see them open. Lots of scattered Water fountains, but they are dirty because people spit their gum in them or it's filled with sand/dirt, or worse, someone thinks it's funny to put a worm in. Besides the negatives, the positives outweigh living next to such a nice and lively park! read more

Blue Jacket Park is a great place for outdoor workouts and runs. There is a track that is great for a warm-up jog and the loop around the park measures a mile. If you prefer a longer distance, you can run to Lake Baldwin and complete a loop or two or three, if you're ambitious, around the lake (1 loop is = to 2.5 mi). I've also attended boot camps held at the park and those are fantastic- you are out in the sun, enjoying fresh air and getting a great workout. The park is well-lit at night and there is a clear view of the loop, so it is pretty safe. Another great safety quality is the fact that parking is so close by. No creepy walks through a forest to get to your car. My only gripe is I haven't quite cracked the code on the bathroom situation - sometimes they are locked, sometimes not. So, word of advice, if you are meeting a workout buddy here and have to use the restroom, incorporate an extra 15 minutes, in case you have to make a potty run to the Village Center. read more

Finally we are optimizing! We've recently started playing pick up soccer and were searching for a location that incorporated a central location and enough room to play if the soccer field was occupied. Anyway, this is a beautiful park, like in a real city. They have facilities for biking, skating (roller and in-line), tennis, soccer, baseball, and more. This is a park created from the ground up, rather than a cleared forest. This means that the trees are not close to mature and provide minimal shade for now. They did build a beautiful fountain which with some imagination you could picture a future Central Park type atmosphere.. I see this as a comfortable place to picnic, grill, walk, jog, whatever. They will earn the extra star when the trees grow in. All in one...hence optimized. read more

Beautiful, clean, and the sidewalks are incredibly well-kept (perfect for rollerblading!). Some people don't bring their dogs on a leash but they've always been well-behaved. Beautiful fountain and great views of the sunset. My favorite park in Orlando. There is a track, tennis courts, bball courts, and a playground, with clean restrooms and water fountains. read more

Has it really come to this? Look at yourself. Have you really gotten to the point in your life where you are reading a stranger's opinion about a public park online? I don't know how exactly you ended up here and frankly, I don't want to know. But I digress, Blue Jacket park is an excellent park, and I suggest that you go there. This park is pretty open and has a nice loop for running. There are also basketball courts and baseball diamonds, if that's your thing. What makes this park stand out is the neoclassical architecture on all the buildings (and even gazebos). Have you ever wanted to buy a bottle of Gatorade and a bag of Cheetos that is clearly labeled "not for individual sale" out of a miniaturized Parthenon? Well, now's your chance. This park is a great place to take your four-legged friends due to its open layout and relative lack of crowding. My main bitch and I usually go here every weekend to frolic in the fields and kick a soccer ball with our miniature Poodle. If you see us, please shout "my life is a cavern of despair, the depths of which cannot be comprehended!" read more

I love running here. The path seems very safe because it is almost smack in the middle of the surrounding neighborhoods. There are always people around doing various activities and there is a real track attached, if you want to practice track running. My favorite thing about this park is that there are several sidewalks cutting around and through the park so you can mix and math them to make your run either long or short. If you need a place to park to ride your bike, the park adjoins to Cady Way Trail. read more

Really fancy park with running tracks, soccer fields, baseball fields, and a really fancy fountain! Park is well lit for the runners and there are plenty of parking so you'll always see someone here exercising. Whether it's them playing some basketball, raquetball, soccer, baseball or just running this place is booming with people who live in the surrounding area! It really is a top notch public park! read more

Okay, I wanted to put 4 stars but there is no water park! All in all a GREAT place for families to congregate and enjoy a beautiful day! Its a huge huge park nestled between Baldwin Park community and Glenridge Middle School. There are large fields to play in, at any given time there is a flag or touch football game, martial artists practicing their craft, and kite flyers! There is a nice track and large sidewalk for jogging, running, strolling with the family or a loved one, and walking the pets. There are baseball fields also, and a playground for children. There are cement picnic tables scattered about, and a large cement pavilion you can rent out to have birthday parties or events in the park. There is a beautiful fountain as well, I've seen people use this for music videos, photo shoots, and even weddings! I love all the trees, they are so natural and beautiful, providing awesome shade for blanket picnics or cloud gazing! A great place to build community and see people enjoying their lives and families! read more

To be honest, I don't really know all that much about Blue Jacket Park, and if you're looking for full & in-depth reviews of it, you'll probably want to scroll down and read the previous ones. I do come to the park at least a few times per month, however, as some friends and I play "pick up" soccer games here on Saturday mornings (and now, thanks to Daylight Savings Time, one weekday/week ... weather permitting). It's a great place to play and it's in a spot convenient to Baldwin, College and Winter Parks as well as to those who live downtown. My friends and I play soccer on the oval-shaped field in the middle of the running track (near the school), but the rest of the park is well-maintained, clean and seemingly useful to many people who visit it for reasons other than soccer. There are basketball courts, large open fields for events/etc. and even a baseball field (though I've never gone to that part of the park). We're happy playing here and I think the group I go here with will be here for the foreseeable future! If you see a horrendous soccer player running around on that grass on Saturday mornings, it's probably me. If you see an average or above-average goalkeeper, that's probably me, too ... once the group I'm with gets tired of seeing me play on the field and decides I'm of more use only making saves, if I can even do that. Haha. read more

Awesome park for all types of outdoor events!! Really spacious lots of greens and places to sit and chat. people surroundings are also very nice. read more

I started running at Blue Jacket a few months ago. I enjoy running on the track as well as the loop that passes the fountain. As someone who is new to running, I find that Blue Jacket is a perfect place for beginners. The people who I typically see are a good mix of walkers, runners, kids on bikes, and pet owners who bring their dogs to the park. As a woman, staying safe during my runs is the highest priority. I feel very safe at the park because there's always a sports team or group that's meeting for practice. It is nice to know that someone is always around. My only complaint is that the bathroom facilities aren't as clean as they could be. Otherwise, I have always had great experiences at this park! read more

Ran in the beautiful park for the first time. It's stunning and very clean. There was a group finishing sort of boot camp by the fountain when I got here. Plenty of people were using the park and had their dogs with them. All of them very friendly. Lake Baldwin is at the other end of the park and makes the run so much better! Definitely making this my new spot. read more

This park is located in/by Baldwin Park and boasts plenty of amenities, well-manicured and expansive fields, and a beautiful fountain! Anything that you wish to do in a park, Blue Jacket can most likely accommodate, and then some. Since I don't live in the area, my visits have been few and far between. But I've enjoyed every activity I've ever participated in. I've also brought our ever anxious dog here for walks, which is never a good idea when doing so on weekends as the park is usually overfilled with activity. Weekday evenings are much better if you hope to have more of a quieter stroll around. However, this park really isn't the strolling or quiet picnic kind with its lack of shaded pathways - it's more for sports or other active events. The only issue I've ever had with this park is the number of people who don't actually abide by the rule that pets must be leashed. Which really isn't the park's fault, so just be careful should you be afraid of dogs, or with people who are. =) read more

I have been playing Ultimate here at least once a week for the past three years, and every time I use the facilities (toilet), I am motivated to write to the city and thank them for the constant cleanliness. The park is always well kempt. AND! they have a roundabout for the kids (in the playground next to the bathrooms and the baseball fields); I thought these were outlawed. This park is lovely. read more

Love this park! Come early for training--lot of groups meeting up and getting fit.

Its a park that's open till 11pm, which is great for a late run. The track is shaped like a spermatozoa which a full revolution around the head and flagella is about 1.7 miles. It also has plenty of chicks running around in running shorts or yoga pants. There is a playground near the ballpark, and dog bowls for the pup. The neighborhood is definitely safe and well lit. read more

LOVE this park! Parking is sometimes tough though. There are always groups of people doing bootcamp, yoga or running. The park has a 2 mi loop and you can add a loop around the lake at Baldwin Park for a total of 4.5 miles. Well lit and I always feel safe. read more

This is a really nice park. I like taking pictures near the fountain. I like to come during the weekdays after work with the husband and our dogs to walk around and enjoy ourselves. It would be a nice place to play soccer or other sports with friends. read more

I love this park, I'm so lucky to have it right next to my house. Plenty of water fountains and nice to run around, not just one boring loop. Also I love that it's well lit and open late. Well maintained and spacious. read more

This park is a nice size, and great for ULTIMATE FRISBEE. I've only been to the main grassy area, where pick-up games of ultimate frisbee are played on Tues/Wed at 6pm and on Sunday at 9am. These dates/time often change, but Sunday is both the most consistent and the most attended. Bring one dark- and one light-colored shirt for teams, and some water because it can get hot. read more

Very clean and well-manicured park. You'd miss it if you drive by too fast, but it's a lot bigger than it looks from the road.

The park is excellent ! I was visiting Orlando on vacation / business. I was curious about the remains of the navy base that had once been there. This area is now a great park. I saw people jogging. I saw people pushing strollers. I saw young people working out with hand held weights. I saw a woman throwing items for her 2 dogs. If I could have a park near my house, I would want it to be like blue jacket park. read more

Spent a couple of months there...in 1984! Me and 80 of my closest friends would go on daily runs and exercise in the open spaces. We marched in formation and even sang songs. The place I remember doesn't exist anymore but I'll never forget it. It was the gateway to the greatest adventure ever! Hard to believe it's been 31 years. Go Navy! read more
