Came here for Vegan Festival. Great time. Bathrooms and playground and splash pad for kids. Pretty big park for dogs as well.

Veterans Day weekend presentation

The park itself is very nice but the reason for our visit was to see the traveling Vietnam War Memorial. With parking located around the perimeter of the park we easily found a spot as we were arriving earlier in the day. I can tell that there will be a lot of visitors over the weekend as the display will be there until Veterans Day. We strolled around the park after viewing the emotional display under the cover of American flags along the pathway. At the far end of the park they were setting up for the Veterans Day carnival complete with rides, games and food vendors. Normally the park is a quiet area to sit and enjoy a picnic or the kids have a rather substantial size play area they can visit with a parent or Guardian. If I lived in the area I would probably spend a lot of afternoons walking or sitting and just enjoying the calm and peace around me.

Lovely Xmas lights

This Park is the main greenery spot for the city of Apopka and it's fairly large! I ended up going here at nighttime to check out the Christmas lights and loved the variety including a menorah! There is a nice gazebo in the middle and we passed lots of families with young'uns running around, a couple of dog walkers and also a few young lovers! Mum tells me the park hosts lots of events - now that I'm living here on a more permanent basis, looking forward to checking it out some more! Yelp 209/2017

Great location and parking is ample for site. First Thursday of the month they host the "Apopka Food Truck Round Up" which has about 10 regular trucks and 2-3 rotating visiting/guest trucks. The Food Truck Round Up should show up on the right of this review in Yelp. Here is some more information from the Apopka Government Website: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kit Land Nelson Park is a 5 acre facility located off of Park Avenue between First Street and Orange Street. It features several picnic areas, a gazebo, tennis courts, racquetball courts and playground. Originally known as "City Park", Kit Land Nelson Park was renamed in honor of Katherine "Kit" Land Nelson, Mayor John Land's sister, after she passed away. Kit was a great supporter of our parks and foliage industry and was a proud member of the Apopka Woman's Club.

Newly added splash pad.

There's a lake with a dock, and plenty of green space and covered pavilion areas. There is also another park space across the street with another kid's play area. That one is an oldet style, but still nice and well-kept. There are tons of pavilions and grilling areas with nearby parking. You can really have your own space here. Overall, very nice park with all the bells and whistles.

Boy, did we not expect to see what we saw! Peacocks! Just living their lives amongst this beautiful serene park. Just make sure to respect the wildlife here, as well as anywhere else. I did not approach the peacocks, I waited for the peacocks to approach me at a safe distance. This park is quiet, beautiful, relaxing, and fully equipped with playground equipment for all ages. It also has a volleyball court and nice pavilions that you can rent out and barbecue at. There are even campgrounds out here on the property. There are so many things that you can do here in this beautiful little oasis of a place. Come take advantage of all that you can see and do! Take my word for it. You will not be disappointed.
