As someone who enjoys walking outdoors near bodies of water, I truly enjoyed this walk. There was a good amount of seating throughout the park. There were various other recreational courts that you can use alongside, public restrooms, outdoor grills, large fields to gather in for picnics, workouts, etc. There is also a good amount of public parking. Secret Lake Park is lovely, and it is also peaceful. You can fish or just enjoy overlooking the lakes in a moment of solitude. Speaking of lakes, Secret Lake Park is made up of a series of lakes at varying sizes that you can walk near/around. They also have some historical boards in the park that you can read about the history of the lakes.

Our friends have their Rock Super Bowl at this park each year, they have been holding this event…read moreannually so it's their Rock Super Bowl IX. We had a blast! Basically, a battle of the local rock and roll bands - a variety of different members from different bands come together on two teams for one day with a purpose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are only $5, bring a foldup chair, 10x10 tent, a cooler and it's a great time watching all of our friends compete with one another on the field. Torcaso Cove Park is a great place to hold this event. There is a spacious field with plenty of space on the sidelines for fans. There are several parking areas available making parking easy for large events. There was plenty of space for a half-time show with live music right by the field. There were also a BBQ vendor and several other vendors on site selling food, jewelry, and other items. The park has a public restroom, a playground, splash park, sand pits, plenty of paved walking areas, a picnic area with tables, large pavilion, a beautiful bridge that crosses the heart shaped cove, the park has a bunch of Muscovy ducks waddling around and is dog friendly, what else can you ask for. Nancy and I really enjoyed our time at the park, we will definitely be back to bring our dog and take a nice walk. I just have to mention that it was a bit muddy on the field, even on a hot sunny day. So be sure to wear something you don't care about getting dirty.

There are 3 play areas: 2 for the big kids, and a pirate themed area for the little kids. There is also a splash pad, and I will openly admit to running through recently, as I chose to go on my run when it was over 95 degrees. The park is very clean, and well cared for, and it's right next to the Winter Springs Police Department, and on this day they had an event bringing awareness to autism; I was offered a popsicle and gladly grabbed it. I sat on a bench to watch a soccer match, while I finished my cold treat, stretched a bit, put on my weighted vest, waved to the ducks, and took off. Perfect park on a perfect day :)

There are a few trees for shade near the playground but the splash pad is mostly in the sun. The splash pad is seasonal and $2 cash per person, is fenced in, and has an attendant. The playground has swings and couple fun climbing structures. The bathrooms are clean and there is a changing table in the women's restroom. We would come back to this nice park again!

One of the biggest pluses, especially here in Florida, is that the playground is mostly shaded. Every park should be this way. Overlook Park is located on Lake Jessup near the southern end of the beltway bridge. The park is surrounded by two sulfur springs of historical significance, one to the east and one to the west that give you the feeling as if you are on a small island. The three acre park has a pavilion with several picnic tables and a grill. Throughout the park are large oak trees covered in moss that provides a shaded canopy from the sun. Around the water's edge are Cyprus trees with their interconnecting roots, also known as Cyprus knees, that stick up out of the ground. As you look out towards the water, you can see a newly reconstructed boardwalk popular with local fisherman. I especially enjoyed the wildlife at the park which is home to osprey, various Florida wading birds, and the alligators of Lake Jessup. This is an especially picturesque and peaceful park with a rich depth of area history.

Gemini Springs Park is located in DeBary, Florida, 25 miles north of Orlando…read more Since you can no longer swim here due to high concentrations of bacteria in the waters, visitor attendance can be quite low. And since there's alternative parks situated throughout Central Florida that are swimmable, not many people will make the effort to experience Gemini Springs. In fact, I'd categorize this place as a local town park more than anything. It's free to visit and hours are sunrise to sunset. There were no names or signs for the hiking trails, so at times it felt like I was wandering aimlessly. But, the trees decorated with Spanish Moss exuded southern charm and most corners I turned felt like strolling along a nature trail. There's a dual sided passageway that acts as the centerpiece to the park and is also a dam spillway which (I believe) separates the DeBary Creek waters and the Gemini Springs area. I did spot a gator which almost caught a fish right in front of my eyes. I also noticed a soft shell turtle who appeared to be laying her eggs in the sand and some birds doing fishing of their own. Gemini Springs has picnic pavilions, a playground, a dog park, a fishing pier, plenty of grass to play around, and even camping is permitted here. Lastly, I'd like to highlight a section of the park that turns colorfully vibrant when the sun is shining... - Follow the concrete walkway (which you can't miss). - Then...you'll approach a tucked away corner of the springs. This area can be a rewarding moment for admiring the great outdoors. If you just pause and absorb the surroundings, nature's beauty shines through. It's a refreshing reminder that just because a park isn't as accessible as it once was, doesn't mean it should go unnoticed. I believe Gemini Springs Park can be a worthwhile half day visit.

My kid plays soccer here with Seminole Youth Soccer, and it's easily one of our favorite spots for practice and weekend games! The soccer fields are well maintained, and the sidelines have plenty of space for families to relax and cheer on their teams. Between matches, it's not unusual to spot a few deer wandering through the trails, which always feels like a little dose of magic in the middle of a busy day. Beyond soccer, the park offers a small playground, tennis courts, and beautiful walking and biking trails shaded by trees -- perfect for getting some steps in while the kids play. There's ample parking, clean facilities, and it always feels safe and family-friendly. Whether you're here for youth sports, a morning jog, or just some quiet time in nature, Sylvan Lake Park is a true Heathrow treasure.
