Sylvan Lake Park is one of my favorite parks to visit. It has big beautiful trees and lots of space to get lost in. If getting lost isn't your thing the park has tons of amenities. There are tennis courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, exercise area and fishing. They are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 10 pm...Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm.

Beautiful soccer fields and clean bathroom premises. I came here for a showcase soccer event for a family friend. Parking can be a hike so leave those Jimmy Choos at home. Walking areas can be muddy so be prepared. Bleachers to sit are exposed so bring something to sit on, and a hat if necessary.

Some very serious soccer Most of the world calls it football but here in the states we already have a cool sport named football so we call it soccer. Doesn't matter what you call it, here at Sylvan lake Park they take it very, very seriously. The park has six professional soccer fields and invites some of the best teams and players from around the world to kick around a funny shaped ball. Olympic and international teams have played here as well as well as a plethora of Olympic hopefuls. It seems somebody or lots of somebodies very good at the game of soccer are on one of the fields doing remarkable things with their feet. Even though the park is known for it's high level soccer, it is actually a 126 acre facility bordering the 188 acre Lake Sylvan. It also has six very well maintained tennis courts, sand volleyball pits, American football fields, and racquetball courts. Lots of programs and classes are held including some very cool outside weightlifting for women while we were there. Of course since the beautiful lake is sitting right next to the park boat ramps give access to some wonderful fishing and boating activities and there are plenty of trials and path for jogging, hiking or just walking around. For the less active souls, pavilions and shady spots are great places for picnics or just hanging around. I'm actually shocked that this park has not been reviewed before since it is something very, very special. A great example of space being utilized to get people active or at the very least outside watching other people be active.

This beautiful and well maintained park offers an array of recreational amenities. As a nature lover I enjoyed the many boardwalks with views of the lake and the sidewalk which meanders through the entire park. Kids will spend hours playing and on the two imaginative playgrounds. Our friends have their Rock Super Bowl at this park each year, they have been holding this event…read moreannually so it's their Rock Super Bowl IX. We had a blast! Basically, a battle of the local rock and roll bands - a variety of different members from different bands come together on two teams for one day with a purpose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are only $5, bring a foldup chair, 10x10 tent, a cooler and it's a great time watching all of our friends compete with one another on the field. Torcaso Cove Park is a great place to hold this event. There is a spacious field with plenty of space on the sidelines for fans. There are several parking areas available making parking easy for large events. There was plenty of space for a half-time show with live music right by the field. There were also a BBQ vendor and several other vendors on site selling food, jewelry, and other items. The park has a public restroom, a playground, splash park, sand pits, plenty of paved walking areas, a picnic area with tables, large pavilion, a beautiful bridge that crosses the heart shaped cove, the park has a bunch of Muscovy ducks waddling around and is dog friendly, what else can you ask for. Nancy and I really enjoyed our time at the park, we will definitely be back to bring our dog and take a nice walk. I just have to mention that it was a bit muddy on the field, even on a hot sunny day. So be sure to wear something you don't care about getting dirty.

This lovely neighborhood park was named in honor of Wilson Phelps, a Chicago businessman who toured…read morethe area in 1874 and purchased land east of Lake Osceola for a citrus business. In addition to growing citrus, Phelps sold lots to fellow Chicagoans and mentored Loring Chase and Oliver Chapman into turning this largely unsettled area into an upscale winter resort. Phelps, acting as a one-man chamber of commerce, provided the basis of the promotional materials used by Chase and Chapman who marketed Winter Park to wealthy northerners. This nearly six acre park, in Winter Park, provides both natural beauty and recreational opportunities. One of the nicest features of this park is the playground that was rebuilt in 2021 by Kompan Design with input from area residents. This playground was designed to improve physical, cognitive, creative, and social development while fostering imaginative play and friendships. Other park amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions available for rental, restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two hardcourts for pickleball. This park is fully fenced for safety and is beautifully landscaped and it is close to downtown Winter Park where you can find shopping and dining options. This park is the perfect place for a morning stroll, a birthday party, play, or a picnic. Phelps Park appeals to all ages. Community Parks don't come much nicer than this one.
