Some officious and racist girl at the attendant stand tells me I can't use it because it's expired. She tells me she doesn't have the code buttons to put in (her first excuse) then tells me she can't let me thru bcoz it's expired and she can't do anything about (causing a long line behind me while she argues with me and then says I should pay the difference) her second excuse. Then she says she needs to call her supervisor who tells her to take all my expired receipts (all paid car washes mind you) and take my license down so as to not let me get future car washes. (Seriously, all this for an $8 car wash) she then tells me that she'll let me go and to never come back because "We don't want your kind back here!" This is the racist comment that Just put me over so I tell her to F off. To make matters worse as soon as my car exits the car wash, this bald older a hole confronts me and screams at me as to why I made his employee cry and why I was screaming at her. I tell this douche that he needs to train his employees to not scream at customers and that his employee is a racist and said she didn't want my kind here! He tells me that his employee would never say that as if he witnessed the whole thing which he did not and just walks away. Nice job alienating a long time customer. Never more! After all the weird weather, back and forth with snow and rain, and soooo much dirt, I celebrated the first warm day of the year and treated our car to a bath. It was time. It was a simple bath, with no bells and whistles, but now I can drive around with dignity in the school drop off line. If you didn't know, there's a car wash in the back of Shell. It's hidden, unless you see the sign at the pump. The great thing is if you plan to use the car wash, you have two options. Pay at the pump and receive $.10 off each gallon of gas, or if you don't want gas you can head to the attendant at the car wash and pay for one of the following three options: * Regular wash $5 * Plus wash adds sealer wax and under carriage rust inhibitor $6 * Premium will get you wheel brightener and polish wax for $7 I take the cheap seats for $5 and haven't tried the upgrade services, but there is no extra tip to pay, so maybe next time. You are on your own here, and they do have interior vacuums available right around the corner from the wash. There is a yearly car wash plan available. They gave us an optional punch pass. After a few washes the next one is free!

That said, you still get subjected to some of the same bullsh*t that you see elsewhere on the West Side. Q: Are those other people pumping gas into their vehicles? A: Nope. The patrons are just parking at the pumps for extended periods of time to purchase hot chips, sugar water and lottery tickets. Protip: Purchase a gallon of gas here to get yourself to Oak Park where you can fill your tank for a fraction of the cost.

Analyze that! This Shell rarely, if at all, has any issues with pumps, cc machines, etc. They keep it running like a fine oiled machine. Quite a few pumps to choose from. Multiple different exits and entrances. Talk about convenience...right off 41 North. They always have windshield fluid in the containers and squeegees to brighten up that windshield. The moment I walked outside to see my car after it got through the car wash I noticed my Nissan grill emblem was missing!! I immediately stopped the guy who was ready to clean my car to find it immediately. It was on the floor several feet away from the machines. The female cashier of the car wash came out and she took a look at it and saw that it wasn't going to just fit back on the grill, because well... the machine broke it off. I immediately asked her what they were going to do about it. She proceeds to tell me in a rude and condescending tone ' um well excuse me I'm only the cashier I don't know what to tell you." Are you f***** kidding me? You're business just broke a piece of my car off and you're going to make me feel as though it's my fault, and better yet not even offer to pay for/ refund me for my car wash. The only reason this place gets a star is for the awesome assistant manager who was interrupted during an oil change to fix it for me, and was really good about it. The oil change service I came in for was as simple as coming in and out, everything was taken care of without any trouble. They also took care of my check engine, which turned on due to some thermometer problem. Note: Two customers came in just to say Happy New Years to the owner and gave him a holiday gift, which proved even further that the owner just loves to make his customers feel welcomed.

He always does honest work for a more than fair price. He's honest about the amount of time it takes to do the job and informs you along the way. He doesn't push repairs or parts, merely informs you and let's you make an informed decision based on all the variables. I'm a life customer now and so thankful to have found shop.
