Copper Indian Cuisine in Westchase was an excellent find…read more The restaurant is beautifully decorated -- there's a small bar when you first walk in, but the back dining area is really elegant, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. It immediately feels like a great place to sit down and enjoy a relaxed meal. Service was excellent. Our server, Dominic, was very attentive and gave helpful recommendations throughout the meal. Everything we ordered was delicious. The flavors were bold and well balanced, and the medium spice level was perfect -- flavorful with just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. I also asked for extra yogurt sauce just in case things got spicy, and that ended up being the perfect cooling addition. What we ordered: * Taj Mahal Premium Lager -- crisp, light, and refreshing. A great pairing with the spices in the meal. * Samosa Chaat -- we were told this is a traditional Indian street food. It consisted of vegetable samosas chopped up and topped with yogurt sauce, chutneys, and special spices, creating a great balance of creamy, tangy, and savory flavors. * Garlic Naan -- warm, soft, and perfectly garlicky. * Tandoori Platter -- a generous assortment of tandoori chicken, lamb chops, and shrimp, cooked in the tandoor with beautiful smoky flavor and spices. The platter was served with basmati rice and sauces on the side, which complemented the meats perfectly. Most of the meal was gluten-free, with the exception of the naan and the samosa chaat appetizer. I do wish they offered gluten-free naan or samosas, which would make an already great menu even more accessible. They also offer weekday and weekend happy hours (I included a photo of the menu for anyone interested). We will definitely be back. This will easily become our go-to Indian restaurant in the area.

We also did chicken 65, and a vegetable curry. The prefix menu could not have the spice level adjusted however I found it tolerable (I have a reasonably high spice tolerance) and the other items we asked for mild and they were perfect. The service was top notch. Extremely friendly and personable staff, we felt welcome from the beginning. We also had the chef come and check on us and the part that stood out to me is that everyone working here was happy and proud of their food. The interior of the restaurant is very nice. I loved the setup and the lighting. It was perfect for a romantic evening and for enjoying food with friends. I will absolutely come back. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa. The staff and excellent food made this an experience I will remember.

Heartbreaking food shortages for wedding catering and poor management - Proceed with caution…read more We chose Flames Indian Cuisine for our multi-day Indian wedding based on the owner's personal assurance that because the restaurant was local, they could not run out of food. Unfortunately, the reality was a bride and groom's worst nightmare. The planning process was incredibly stressful. It took weeks to get a finalized menu or contract, and we weren't even able to settle the payment until the week before the event. Communication was consistently delayed. Despite paying for a 200-person guest count and having fewer guests than contracted, we ran out of food at nearly every event. This was witnessed by our guests, the venue staff, and our wedding planner. When we confronted the owner, he blamed our guests for "eating too much" rather than taking responsibility for under-preparing. He promised an internal investigation and a resolution within a month. It has now been three months, and despite numerous follow-ups, he has completely ignored our attempts to resolve this amicably. In Indian weddings, food is a pillar of the celebration. To have our guests waiting 10+ minutes for refills that never came was embarrassing and a clear breach of our contract. I would strongly advise any couple to look elsewhere if you want a caterer who is professional and honors their commitments.

We snagged a table on a bustling Thursday evening, and the warm welcome from the staff set the tone: attentive, genuine, and zero rush. The interior is cozy with that inviting aroma of tandoor smoke and simmering curries wafting everywhere, making it feel like a hidden gem in the heart of the city. We started with the Vegetable Platter--crispy samosas bursting with spiced potato and peas, pakoras that were light and addictive, and paneer tikka so tender and smoky from the clay oven. For mains, the Butter Chicken was pure bliss: creamy tomato gravy clinging to juicy tandoori chicken pieces, rich but not overwhelming. The Lamb Rogan Josh stole the show--aromatic with cinnamon, cardamom, and garam masala, the lamb melting in every bite with that slow-cooked depth. We added a side of Garlic Naan, fresh and pillowy with just the right blister and buttery garlic kick, plus some fluffy Basmati rice to soak it all up. Everything was perfectly spiced (we went moderate, but the server guided us flawlessly), portions were generous enough for leftovers, and the bill came in under $60 for two with apps, mains, and naan--total steal for this quality. No desserts listed, but honestly, we were too stuffed to care. If you're craving real-deal Indian--think Goan curries, Chettinad heat, or tandoori perfection--Flames is your spot. Already booking round two. Tampa, consider me obsessed!

Never thought I would find it here! I was so excited!! Told Hubster I knew where we were going for dinner! He asked "where?" I said, "the Mall!". He looked at me like I had 2 heads. "Where?" he asked. "The Mall!" I told him. He knows me and malls and I am in them maybe twice a decade if something goes really wrong. "M-A-L-L?" he asked for clarification. "Yes!", I said, "they have Himalayan food! "OK, then", he said, still very bemused. Hubster had the chicken curry and I had the Himalayan combo. The curry definitely has some bite to it!!! But good sauce-to-rice ratio. And it came with a few raw baby carrots, zucchini slices and cherry tomatoes. Yum! My momo were delicious, as was the samosa. I have my new favorite place to eat!

What is a Momo? It's a delicate but sturdy skinned, handmade steamed dumpling filled with flavorful vegetarian, chicken or pork! It comes with nice mild or spicy peanut sauce but, these tasty Momos can stand on their own as well! The sauce is an extra bonus! They cost around $1 each so they definitely do not break the bank! I do need to mention that all three styles contain butter and the vegetarian contains paneer in case you happen to be avoiding dairy. The Chai Tea was excellent affording to my wonderful wife but it too contains dairy. Sangam, working the counter, was engaging, helpful, friendly and full of enthusiasm! Thank you Sangnam for cheerfully answering many questions. Awesome you were born in Nepal and can help bring the wondrous flavors from your homeland here for us all to try! Life is good with a new excellent cuisine! Nepalese!
