Luck would have it, my assistant chose this company to book my first surf lesson ever. Justin was not only clear, concise and knowledgeable, he also had me laughing the entire time and set me completely at ease in the water. I sincerely feel sorry for the other group having a lesson next to me with another company. They were missing waves, being knocked over and it seemed more like the instructor was just there to rent out surfboards. Ethos actually focused on the basics then got me on waves and helped me feel confident and comfortable within minutes of the lesson starting. I am already planning on coming back with my friend in a few weeks, then bringing my children for a lesson this summer. read more

Laguna Ethos - First lesson was 10/10 - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Laguna Beach, California

We signed our 8 & 11 yo boys up for their first surf lessons. After much research we decided on Ethos and they did not disappoint!! Abraham & Spencer were fantastic! Abraham was paired with our boys and we appreciated that he was very cognizant of our 8 yo's safety and was super friendly, encouraging, etc. We will be going back for more lessons for sure. Check out the two pics. They are worth a thousand words! Fantastic experience. Thank you for making this a great memory for us. read more

Went kayaking with Ryan and Justin while visiting my family in Southern California this last weekend. I was really appreciative of Justin as I had just hurt my hand the day before and he offered to be my kayak mate!! Despite my injury, we were able to lead the pack, but no worries, they will go at your pace!! Both Ryan and Justin were very skilled and knowledgeable. Our tour was comfortable, safe, and a great learning experience. Most cool, we saw both common and Bottlenose dolphins!! Dont have photos but we do have videos!! Highly recommend!! read more

Excellent choice! I am so happy I chose Laguna Ethos. Justin was amazing. His lesson was informative, encouraging, and positive. I had a blast! Can't wait to book again with Laguna Ethos. read more

Justin does a great job filling you in on local sights & history. A skilled & knowledgeable kayaker for sure. He gave good instructions on how to paddle and maneuver the kayak. It helps if you've kayaked before and if you have core strength - if you have a weak core and/or back, tell Justin so he can be your kayak mate. I paired with an older family member and the struggle was so real!! But Justin saved the day for us. Also, get up early and do as early as possible. It usually gets breezier by 11 which can be challenging for novices. You'll be glad you went early and will be glad you went kayaking in the beautiful Pacific Ocean. #SaveTheSeas read more

Awesome Kayak Tour! After reading the many positive reviews on Google and Yelp! we chose Laguna Ethos. Justin was waiting for us with all of his gear in tow. He clearing explained what we would be doing and gave us a safety chat. Any questions we would ask, he answered them with great thought. We were so amazed at how beautiful this location is. We would call it one of the best sights in the world. Justin gave us exceptional information on the history of Laguna Beach and of the sea creatures we could see and not see. For those of you that are not sure about your physical stamina, it was not physically demanding and pretty smooth paddling there and back. You are not rushed and can take your time. The staff can assist you if you need any help. We are recommending Laguna Ethos to all of our friends and family. You will have and amazing time! read more

My wife and I just took a kayaking tour with Jay and Scott. It was totally awesome. They were both very kind and were highly knowledgeable. They taught us how to kayak, taught us things about the ocean and the Laguna coast, and we even got to kayak around dolphins. Would highly recommend this trip! read more

Couldn't have asked for a better guide and experience! My six year old son was really excited to go kayaking for the first time and Justin made it awesome. We got to see dolphins up close (like 6 ft away), a few harbor seals hanging out in the keep bed and garibaldi. Justin is very good with kids and found a spot where my son could jump in and see the garibaldi with his goggles underwater - not an easy feat in high tide. Looking forward to taking my 12 year old nieces out soon. Thank you Justin, we had a great time. read more

The review is based strictly on the customer service, not the actual tour as we never went on it. I made reservations for a kayaking tour on 9/6 @ 11 a.m. It was supposed to be part of our getaway to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We drove around for over an hour looking for parking to no avail, not surprised since it was Labor Day weekend and the hottest weekend in years in SoCal. At 11:07 a.m., I called Justin to tell him we wouldn't be able to make it and ask if we could reschedule for the next day -- at whatever time he had availability.(To avoid losing the $159 for the tour, we were willing to cancel our plans for Monday). He returned my call within a couple of minutes to tell me they were totally booked for Monday -- Labor Day. He also asked that I check with him via text in about 1.5 hours to see what he could do as they were leaving for the tour. I texted him at around 2 p.m. asking to let me know if he could accommodate us. He said he could do it at 11 a.m. the next day. We arrived at the area, Heisler Park, shortly after 9 a.m. to avoid the parking issues. We walked around for a while until we got a text at 10:25 a.m. from Justin saying the tour was cancelled due to the rough waters and that they'd try again the next day at 11. Unfortunately, due to work obligations on the following day, that didn't work for us. While the cancellation was a total disappointment, we appreciated Justin's responsiveness, responsibility to ensure safety and willingness to work with us despite our inability to make our original reservations. The icing on the cake was we were refunded the $150 for the reservation without asking. Since we're in the Pasadena area, we visit Laguna regularly. We'll definitely go kayaking down there soon and rebook with Laguna Ethos. read more

Just went out with Justin today! I cannot recommend him enough. I felt so comfortable and safe and had the best time. I will most definitely be scheduling another lesson with them soon! We were out in the water practically the entire time. I really appreciated that every wave I took, I received feedback on by Justin. I really enjoyed having that second pair of eyes to help correct the small mistakes you can't see yourself. They have wetsuits and boards for everyone and a changing area for you. If you are looking for surfing lessons definitely come here!!! read more

Had a surf lesson with Justin and Joey, and it was a blast. Justin is a great teacher and kept it simple for a beginner like myself. While the lesson flew by, I managed to stand on the board a few times. Please note that this will be a physically demanding activity, so be sure that you're in good condition. Otherwise, you'll run out of energy and breath really soon (as I did). All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get their feet wet in surfing. read more

Laguna Ethos is the Southern California's best kept secret. I've been to Laguna before but never have had experience like this. Justin was incredibly patient, informative, and laid back. Me and my friend took surf lessons with Justin and it was a blast. Unlike other places I've had lessons at, he's super attentive and encouraging and makes sure you are having fun the whole time. He sticks by your side, assisting you so that you catch tons of waves (honestly impressive given my size). Highly recommend using Laguna Ethos if you're new to surfing! read more

Wow what a great tour. It was everyones first time kayaking in the ocean and we were a little nervous at first. The guides made us all feel safe and they were very knowledgeable with guiding us thru this amazing adventure. They even offerd us some time to go snorkling . The guides had so much information and history to share about the area. The 90 minutes was a perfect amount of time to see and do everything. Just need to get to tour 30 minutes early to find parking. Have fun. Im definitely going to do this again and try their other tours. Oh and our group size was not overcrowded like others I'd seen that day. They gave our group the VIP treatment. read more

Had so much fun on our kayak tour! Justin was very communicative leading up to the day of the tour. Parking can get crowded so just give yourself some time. The Laguna Ethos truck is located right outside the address he sends you, you won't miss it and you'll meet him there! Once you arrive you can leave whatever you need inside his truck that's locks up. Justin will even take pics of you out on the ocean if you don't want to worry about bringing your phone. Once down at the beach with paddle in hand and life jacket on, Justin will explain to you exactly what needs to happen for a safe embark into the ocean and how to maneuver the kayak once in the water for a smooth ride. Justin had a lot of fun facts to share while on the tour and was very personable. What a fun and relaxing experience to end our summer. Can't wait to tell all our friends about our experience. We'll be back! read more
