I have an '86 560SL and a '98 S420 Mercedes and Jerry keeps them going. He knows Mercedes like no one else, and I've owned a Mercedes for over 20 years. His prices are honest and reasonable compared to the MANY other mechanics I've used for my Mercs. His neat and tidy shop is conveniently located in Lafayette, about a 10-15 minute walk from the BART station. There is no substitution for experience. All the guys in the shop are great and they've pulled my cars back from the brink many times over the years. They always explain what the problem is and show you exactly what they're going to be doing. I've learned a lot about cars from them. Before I found Jerry and Santiago, I was on the verge of getting rid of my cars because they were too expensive to maintain and were breaking down all the time and I felt like a fool. Now they run like almost new! read more

I took the car to the Mercedes dealership in Walnut Creek to get it fixed and they said the water tank was in tact and did not need to be replaced (typically $800-$1200 with labor and was the majority of my bill from Santiago). read more

Santiago is always so friendly and helpful whenever we bring our car in. I love that he is usually able to take our car in quickly and return it quickly. read more

After a runaround with questionable mechanics all over the Bay Area, I found quality, excellence and great customer service in one place. Thank you Lafayette Motors for everything. My stress level due to car problems has reduced significantly after I found this place. It is such a peace of mind to be able to trust that they have your best interest at heart and are genuinely interested in making sure you are heard. Thank you Jerry!!! read more

Jerry and Santiago are the bomb! Jerry has been servicing our Mercedes Benz cars since 2008. Jerry is a full fledged MB mechanic and has been working on them for decades. Knowledgable and flexible. Pricing is certainly a LOT less than dealerships and is competitive with any other shops nearby. I recommend... Highly recommend. read more

Prices seem higher than other shops. After I picked up my car, I called other shops on Yelp with high ratings and asked for estimates without telling them anything had been done. Estimates from other shops were 20-30% lower than what I paid Lafayette Motors for the same work. Also, two shops advised that the repairs I listed was extensive and replacement of certain parts was probably unnecessary, so I should reconsider whether or not I wanted them to perform all that work. It's possible shops give you a lower estimate to get your business, but in my experience, good places do not deviate from the estimate by much, if at all, when it's time to pay. The best indie mechanics have never charged me more than the estimate, even if it took them longer. Also, repairs took longer than what I've experienced with other mechanics. Maybe there is a parts supply issue, longer time required to diagnose the problem, or longer time required to perform the job. I've had better value and work elsewhere. I struggle to find any reason to return with my business. read more

I have had Jerry and Santiago work on many of our cars , including mercedes, audi, lexus, 52 MG, 68 and 78 camaros. They do great work , are timely and honest . I cant recommend them highly enough . read more

Jerry and Santiago are great! I've been taking my two cars ('12 BMW and '04 Mercedes) to Lafayette Motors since moving to the area in 2015. They've taken time explaining things to me, and indulging my curiosity as an engineer. Best mechanics I've had. read more

They know your Mercedes and will fix it right. No BS, no stupid rip off prices that often come with Mercedes repairs. No hard upsell to scare you into fixing the stuff that can wait when money is tight. Recommended 100%. read more

Allow me to be the first 2016 review for this incredible company. As a first timer, I was incredibly impressed with the efficiency of Jerry & Santiago. They were professional & explained in minute detail everything they did. I am thrilled to say I would return in a heartbeat & that I trust Jerry in everything he says. read more

The level of professional service provided by Lafayette Motors is not only of the highest quality but also very reasonably priced. Every time I drop off my Mercedes Benz or my BMW, I ALWAYS leave with the peace of mind that I am being well taken care of. They are always up front with what my cars need and at the same time never pushing or pressuring me to do the repairs. I value the time they take to sit with me and break down the full comprehensive inspection done on my cars. Because of this, I can drive with the outmost confidence that my vehicles are operating safely and at it's highest performance. I recommend all my family and friends over to Lafayette Motors for their vehicle maintenance and repairs. These guys are by far one of the best mechanics out here and truly a benefit to the surrounding community. read more

This placed was highly recommended, Jerry helped with my car's repair last year every went ok , but recently I brought my car again to check engine light this time Santiago helped me he was very nice until I decide not to do the repair at his shop because my car's warranty would cover for the repair at the dealer, Santiago then charged $180 for checking the source of the problem he actually told me over the phone that He was not charging for the diagnostic since they had worked on my car in the past. I am not against paying a fee but He should've said something since the beginning, He charged close to what the dealer charges. My opinion Santiago was a little dishonest and overcharged for the service provided. read more

Jerry and Santiago are the best! They not only do exceptional work, but are absolutely trustworthy. I would never take my Mercedes to the Mercedes Benz dealer in Walnut Creek again after I found Lafayette Motors! read more

I own a 2002 Jaguar XK8 coupe. I purchased the car in 2012 and have had the car serviced there exclusively after examining a few other shops in the East Bay. I have owned sports cars for 40 years and and can evaluate a good mechanic quickly. Carlos Caicedo is a master mechanic who is technically proficient and very experienced. He diagnoses issues correctly and explains the method by which he will proceed with a repair. All costs are clearly identified so as to avoid unpleasant surprises. The repairs are done correctly and quickly. Equally important is that he is honest and does not try to upsell unnecessary work. Finally, if a mechanical issue arises occasionally Carlos is ready to answer the phone and provide his expertise to solve the problem. The ownership of my Jaguar has been a worry free experience thanks to Lafayette Motors. Jon O. read more

After months of issues with my BMW it finally broke down. I got the recommendation from a friend to take my car to Lafayette Motors. These guys went above and beyond in helping me. The scenario could've opened me up for being taken advantage of by a mechanic but they went far beyond what they had to do in order to help me out. I will be taking my car back there again for regular services and if any issues should come up in the future. read more

Jerry is awesome! He was able to put my knowledge to shame in about three minutes flat. He knows Mercedes cars inside and out, and every trick/tool in the book to keep them running in top condition. I'm convinced he could work on my car blindfolded and do a better job than anyone else I've come across. They're fast and fair, with no surprises. I drive my car with confidence that it will last me forever, as long as it's under Jerry's watch. read more

Lafayette Motors just repaired our car and we are very pleased with the work and service. The car was in and out in one day, the mechanic called to explain what was wrong, what parts would be ordered and what the cost would be. There was also a light out that he fixed and rotated my tires as well! The shop does great work and most of all they are very honest and efficient. We will for sure be taking our cars there on a regular basis. read more
